Methods: The data were collected from 175 patients diagnosed with tuberculosis at three general hospitals located in two provincial cities in South Korea from September 1 to November 31, 2020. The 160 questionnaires were analyzed using IBM SPSS WIN 25.0. Results: The patients' average score for tuberculosis-related knowledge was 15.85±5.87 (out of 25), for family support it was 22.03±9.20 (out of 35), and for medication adherence it was 5.11±2.68 (out of 8). There were significant differences in tuberculosis-related knowledge, family support, and medication adherence according to patients' general characteristics and significant positive relationships among tuberculosis-related knowledge, family support, and medication adherence. Factors affecting patients' tuberculosis medication adherence were history of stopping the medication, the importance of treatment among tuberculosis-related knowledge and family support, and these factors could explain 78% of patients' taking tuberculosis drugs. Conclusion: It could be concluded that the importance of tuberculosis treatment and family support are very important for improving patients' rates of medication adherence. Therefore, medical staffs caring for tuberculosis patients need to manage patients' medication of tuberculosis drugs with continuous consultation.

  • Purpose: This cross-sectional study was carried out to identify factors influencing the health-related quality of life according to socioeconomic level during early adolescence. Methods: Participants were 617 middle school students in $1^{st}$ and $2^{nd}$ grade. All measures were self-administered. Data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0 program and factors affecting the health-related quality of life were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Duncan test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis. Results: According to the level of Family Affluence Scale (FAS), 19.1% of the participants were in the high class, 66.5% in the middle class, and 14.4% in the low class. We have found statistically significant differences among the high, middle, and low classes regarding the health-related quality of life, health perception, resourcefulness, family function, and social capital. The most influential factors of the health-related quality of life were found to be resourcefulness, family function, and social capital in the high and the middle class. Conclusion: The implication of this study is that it is important for the Education Ministry and middle school teachers to help adolescents develop internal coping resources as well as to develop school-curriculums considering social values and norms related to social capital in order to improving their health-related quality of life.

  • Purpose: The purposes of this study were to (a) explore the prevalence of sleep patterns of middle-aged women; (b) identify the relationship between subjective sleep quality and its related variables; and (c) predict the possible explanations of how the related factors affect subjective sleep quality of middle-aged women. Methods: A total of 256 women aged 40-60 years were purposely sampled and given self-administered questionnaires in a cross-sectional, correlation coefficient design. The data was analysed using t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The results were as follows; (a) a total of 40% of the women were poor sleepers as defined by a global PSQI score >5; (b) there were significant differences in quality of sleep related to type of family, number of present illnesses, and use of medication; (c) health promoting behaviors, family functioning, depression, and climacteric symptoms were significantly related to subjective sleep quality; and (d) 34% of variance in subjective sleep quality can be explained by climacteric symptoms, depression, type of family, and spouse. Conclusions: Our findings suggested a high proportion of poor sleeping in middle-aged women. Poor sleeping appeared to have poor health promoting behaviors, lower family functioning, worse depression, and higher climacteric symptoms. Climacteric symptoms, depression, type of family, and spouse were independent risk factors for poor sleeping. Nurse professionals should screen for sleep problems in middle-aged women with a biopsychosocial and behavioral aspect.

  • The purpose of the present study was to examine the desire of married women to be re-employed and the factors related to this desire. The study gathered information from 240 women who gave up their jobs and careers after marriage. Information included their career history, current psycho-social condition, and family situation. Multiple regression and covariation structure analyses indicated that the desire of married women to go back to paid work was influenced by family economic condition, psycho-social condition, and child care situation. Specifically, the study found that family's monthly income and the age of the last child were negatively related to the women's desire for re-employment. On the other hand, economic pressure and achievement motivation were positively related to the women's desire. Finally, the study found that socio-economic background and external social support were not significantly related to the women’s wish to go back to the workforce.

The major findings are summarized as follows: (1) Family resilience was closely related to gratitude and four types of child-rearing attitudes. Gratitude was closely related to four types of child-rearing attitudes. And rejective attitude had significantly negative relations family resilience and gratitude. (2) The significant factors affecting family resilience were mother's education level, gratitude, affective attitude, rejective attitude, autonomous attitude and controlling attitude which explained 63% of the variance.
