A majority of menopausal women experience serious depressive symptom because they are disturbed by their menstruation stop and by multiple physiological symptoms. The purpose of this study is to analyze the related factors of depressive symptom of menopausal women in Korea. A multiple regression model was used to study in association with depressive symptom, controlling for socio-economic characteristics, health status and behavior characteristics, women's health, and family support characteristics. For the data, Menopausal women were 4,680 peoples were selected for this study. PASW 18.0 was used to study in association with affecting factors of depressive symptom in the menopausal women The study shows that Education level, Marital status, Income, Employment status, Activity limitations, Perceived health status, Perceived body Image recognition, Current smoking, AUDIT, Frequency of induced abortion, Frequency of eating out, Breakfast with family, Lunch with family were associated with depressive symptom of menopausal women in Korea.
Purpose: Diabetes Self Management Behavior (DSMB) is crucial for the elderly with diabetes to prevent diabetes complications and to improve their quality of life. The Purposes of this study were to investigate the current status of DSMB and to identify motivational factors related to DSMB in community dwelling older adults with diabetes. Methods: The subjects were 150 diabetic elderly who visited 2 community senior centers in S city. DSMB scale consisted of 5 sub-domains; Being active, healthy eating, regular medication, glucose monitoring, and foot care rated by a scale with a range of 0 to 7. Personal motivation(i.e., intention to behavior) and social motivation including family support and health professional support were measured. Results: The mean score of DSMB was 4.27. The mean score of intention to behavior was 2.52. DSMB was related to Intention to behavior (r=.461, p<.001), family support (r=.342, p<.001), and health professional support (r=.284, p<.001). In regression analysis, a total of 33.4% of variance in DSMB was accounted for by intention to behavior, family support, and health professional support. Conclusion: To improve DSMB of the elderly, diabetes educator should consider on the strategies across both personal and social motivation related to DSMB.
This study examined the mediation effect of life satisfaction between social support and loneliness. The subjects were two hundred and eighty fifth grade elementary school and second grade middle school adolescents in Seoul. The instruments used were questionnaires about loneliness and other factors relevant to loneliness. Social support factors existing in an adolescent's external environment include the support of parents, peers, and teachers. And life satisfaction as a psychological characteristic was concerned with the adolescent's sense of self, school life, home environment, and family relations. Data were analyzed by using the t-test, Pearson's correlation and regression. Major findings were as follows: (1) There were significant differences in parent and teacher support, satisfaction with school life, home environment, and family relations between early adolescents and mid adolescents. (2) Parental, peer, and teacher support, contentment with oneself, school life, home environment, and family relations were negatively related to the fifth-grade early adolescent's loneliness. Peer support and contentment with oneself, school life, and home environment were negatively related to the second-grade middle adolescent's loneliness. (3) Life satisfaction had a mediation effect between peer, parental, and teacher support and loneliness in fifth grade early adolescence. Whole life satisfaction had a mediation effect between only peer support and loneliness.
This study examined the current status of consumer competency such as consumer knowledge, consumer role attitude, and consumer skill and the related factors among female marriage immigrants. The data were collected from 220 female marriage immigrants living in Yeungnam region. The results of this study were as follows. First, the mean for consumer knowledge was 5.555, the mean for consumer role attitude was 4.067, and the mean for consumer skill was 3.841. Second, the results of t-tests and ANOVA showed that there were differences in the category of consumer knowledge according to age, educational level, marriage duration period, and Internet contact frequency. And the differences were found in age, educational level. communication with family about consumption and TV contact frequency for consumer role attitude, whereas in age, educational level, marriage duration period, employment status, communication with family about consumption and communication with friends about consumption for consumer skill. Third, according to the regression analyses, educational level was significant for consumer knowledge. Additionally, communication with family about consumption and TV contact frequency were significant for consumer role attitude, and age, educational level, communication with family about consumption and communication with friends about consumption were significant for consumer skill.
Objectives: Adulterated food education in adolescence period is very important because dietary management related to food safety is not made in a short period. This study aimed to identify dietary lifestyle factors which drive adulterated food management among middle and high school students. Methods: Data was collected from 270 middle and high school students in Daegu using a self-administered questionnaire in March and April of 2015. Data was analyzed using frequency analysis, one-way analysis of variance, ${\chi}^2$-test, factor analysis, reliability analysis, regression analysis, and cluster analysis. Results: The results of factor analysis indicated that adulterated food management awareness was classified into necessity, difficulty, and food purchasing anxiety. The adulterated food management capability was sub-grouped into environmental grasp, food identification, cooking hygiene, and situation management. The adulterated food management efficacy composed of management confidence, action intention, and knowledge. Dietary lifestyle comprised of gustation, family, and health factors after factor analysis, and it consisted of all seeking group, gustation seeking group, family seeking group, health seeking group, and family and health seeking group after cluster analysis. The gustation, family and health factors were significantly affected the factors of awareness, capability and efficacy of adulterated food management (p < 0.05). The frequency of health conditions, helping with meal preparation, and the times of eating out were significantly different according to seeking groups of dietary lifestyle (p < 0.01). The scores of awareness, capability and efficacy of adulterated food management of family and health seeking group were significantly higher than the other seeking groups (p < 0.05). Conclusions: This study suggests that adulterated food management education programs should account for gustation, family and health factors of dietary lifestyle to be effective for adolescents.
This study was performed to investigate the frequency of dairy beverage consumption and factors which affect the dairy beverage consumption of women. The subjects were 1,012 females living in Seoul. They preferred milk, yakult. flavored milk, liquid yogurt, semi-solid yogurt, and low fat milk in order of frequency. The consumption of the dairy beverage was not related to season. The respondents knew that the dairy beverages were nutritious and good for their health. More than fifty percent of them answered that dairy beverages tasted good. The consumption of milk and yakult were related with their occupation, habitual aspect, and practical factors. The consumption of liquid yogurt was affected by their family income, habitual aspect, practical factors and familarity with that beverage. The consumption of semi-solid yogurt was affected by their family income, health status, habitual aspect, and practical factors. The consumption of most beverages were affected by the recognition of those beverages rather than by socio-demographic factors. In order to enough drink dairy beverage, nutritional education messages should encourage consumption of dairy beverages. Policies that make students access dairy beverages at school should be promoted.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze correlation effect size between Basic Psychological Needs (BPN) and factors affecting BPN. Methods: This research was reviewed and synthesized systematically by meta-analyse. Fifty-eight published studies between 2008 and 2016 were sampled and the effect sizes were acquired. Results: The major findings were as follows. In general, medium correlation effect sizes were found. Competency among sub-factors of BPN showed highest effects. Parental factor was more related to BPN than school and individual factors. Parenting behavior and family psychological backgrounds were the most crucial factors in the parental factors. School adjustment was the most critical factor in the school factors. In school grade, the elementary school was more related to BPN than junior high school and high school. Conclusion: Based on these results, we suggest a number of components for parent-education programs, and information for future research.
The purpose of this study is to investigate some related factors which influence subjective economic well-being of the urban housewives, based on family cohesion and adaptability. Questionnaires were distributed to the 1,800 housewives residing in Seoul. The 1261 data obtained were analyzed by Frequency, Percentage, Mean and Multiple Regression. The major findings of this study were summarized as follows. (1) There were significant differences on the economic well-being of the urban housewives according to the social demographic variables, the objective variables, the perceptions of the subjective variables, the conjugal variables, the perceptions of the subjective economics well-being by the urban housewives were in the rank of the perceptions of the subjective(R²=.37), the objective variable(R²=.33) and the family cohesion and adaptability(R²=.28). Based on the above findings, this study concludes that the intermediary variables. such as family cohesion and adaptability are essential elements for comprehending the urban housewives’economic well-being. Accordingly in has been found that the value of family remains important factors to guide in despite the radical changes. If greater attentions should be directed to the social welfare, the quality of family life could be improved and stabilized.
There's an opinion that it may be a combination of change of values and social economic factors that caused low fertility of Korean society. This study intends to analyze actual conditions of family children values and gender role centered on university students in a marriageable age so draw a policy implication for overcoming low fertility. Main findings of this study are like following. First, as for analysis of childbirth intention shows average score of $3.35{\pm}1.142$ presented sex distinction that men have a higher tendency to women. Second, in gender role attitudes, it shows that gender role related on women's social activities($2.06{\pm}0.739$), traditional gender role in family($2.41{\pm}0.789$) influence on childbirth intention (p<0.001). Third, in family children values indicates moderate scores($2.95{\pm}0.648$) that son's position in family ($2.33{\pm}0.911$), relation between children and parents($2.80{\pm}1.050$), individual's position in family($3.56{\pm}0.671$) influence on childbirth intention(p<0.000) in the traditional values. Measures against low fertility will prove effective when family values are established favorable to marriage, childbirth, rearing, gender equality is settled in a society as a whole and related systems.
The purpose of this study is to examine the stress level and factors percepted by the married women during family life, and to identify the related variables influencing on stress level. For this purpose, questionnaires were distributed to the 650 married women who have been living in seoul. Among them 463 data were selected. For data analysis, the statistical method such as the factor analysis frequency distribution percentile , t-test, ANOVA, Duncan's Multiple Range Test and Stepwise Regression Analysis were used. the major findings were summarized as follows; 1) The general tendancy of the stress level percepted by the married women during family life was relatively low. 2) The household background variables(age, level of education, income, type of family, number of children, status of employment ) have turned out to be significant on the stress level of married women except family type. 3) All the social-psychological variables(socio-economic status, communication interaction, resources perception, psychological satisfaction) showed significant differences according to the stress level percepted by the married women during family life. 4) The level of work identity was the important factor on the stress level percepted by the married women during family life. 5) In Stepwise Multiple Regression Analysis, the married women's stress level during family life was greatly influenced by variables such as the resource perception and the psychological satisfaction.
