Purpose: The increasing number of high-risk pregnancies has led to a greater emphasis on psychological well-being in nursing care. However, reducing depression does not automatically equate to increasing happiness. This study aimed to systematically examine the factors influencing happiness and depression among high-risk pregnant women in South Korea. Methods: This correlational, cross-sectional study was based on the ecological systems theory. In total, 152 high-risk pregnant women completed a self-report survey questionnaire available online or offline. Data were analyzed using hierarchical regression analysis. Results: The first model (individual system) identified pregnancy stress and mindfulness as significant factors influencing both happiness and depression. The second model (microsystem) identified medical status at the time of the survey, maternal-fetal interaction, marital intimacy, and social support as additional significant factors influencing either happiness or depression. In the third model (mesosystem), maternal-fetal interaction and paternal-fetal attachment were no longer identified as significant factors. Although the fourth model (exosystem) did not identify community service as a significant factor, individual (pregnancy stress, mindfulness) and microsystem (marital intimacy) factors were found to influence happiness and depression. Medical status at the time of survey and social support were additional factors that influenced happiness, but not depression. These factors explained 51.2% and 55.5% of the variance in happiness and depression, respectively, among high-risk pregnant women. Conclusion: Different factors at the individual and microsystem levels affected happiness and depression among high-risk pregnant women. Hence, efforts to reduce depression among these women should be accompanied by efforts to actively promote happiness.
Purpose. This study was conducted to provide basic data on the subjective happiness index and identify factors influencing college professor and staff by describing their perception of general characteristics, health behavior, suicidal ideation, and subjective happiness index. Methods. A survey was conducted with 198 professor and staff who were working University on K city. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression with SPSS window 18.0 program. Result. The Mean scores of Subjective happiness in college professor and staff was 4.66 on a scale of 7. There were significant differences on the subjective happiness Index for the followings: age, breakfast for 2 day, blood pressure (Lt systolic), health status index (EQ-VAS). There was a negative correlation between the subjective happiness Index and suicidal ideation. Factors influencing of subjective happiness in college professor and staff were identified as age (${\beta}=.201$), breakfast for 2 day (${\beta}=-.180$), blood pressure (Lt systolic) (${\beta}=-.244$), health status index (EQ-VAS) (${\beta}=.408$). These factors explained 35.1% of variance in subjective happiness in college professor and staff. Conclusion. Results indicate that factors influencing subjective happiness are suggesting the need to establish policies of health behavior. health behavior program for a life of happiness among college professor and staff.
This study was conducted to investigate a correlation of factors that have an influence on the happiness of college students, and to investigate the effect of factors on happiness of college students by analyzing the structure of influencing factors of happiness. To this end, 430 freshmen in college were selected and tested on character, self-esteem, self-leadership, and happiness. The measurement tools used in this study were the 30 questions of Character Scale that Choi Min-Soo and Im Eun-Young(2013) developed and modified by Im Eun-Young(2015), a Self-Leadership Scale of Manz(1998) classified into behavioral strategy and cognitive strategy that Wang Ji-Seon(2011) translated and modified. a Self-Esteem Scale(SES) of Rosenberg(1986) that the researcher modified and used, and The Oxford Happiness Questionnaire of Hills and Argyle(2002) that Choi Yo-Won(2002) translated and the researcher modified. According to the research result, for correlation with happiness, self-esteem was .86, self-leadership was .74, and character was .66, and for correlation with self-leadership, character was .70, self-esteem was .66, and correlation between character and self-esteem was .57. Secondly, for direct effect on happiness, self-esteem was .62, character as .20, self-leadership was .19, and for direct effect on self-leadership, character was .49 and self-esteem was .38. Thirdly, indirect effect of character on happiness through self-leadership was .94 and indirect effect of self-esteem on happiness through self-leadership was .73. Through these research results, it was identified that character, self-esteem, and self-leadership of college students are the influencing factors on happiness, and that self-esteem is the biggest influencing factor on happiness of college students among the three variables. The results of this study suggested that university students' personality had a positive relationship with self-esteem and that university students' personality, self-esteem, and self-leadership altogether had a direct influence on happiness. Moreover, both personality and self-esteem of university students had an indirect influence on happiness through their self-leadership.

Purpose: This study was conducted to provide basic data on the nursing Happiness Index and identify factors influencing nurses by describing their perception of lifestyle, health behavior, nursing professionalism, Happiness Index, and turnover intention. Methods: On July 2012, 700 nurses from 10 general hospitals were surveyed, but 23 were omitted due to missing or incomplete data. The focus of this study was the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Happiness Index, consisting of 11 OECD identified topics concerning living conditions and quality of life. Data were analyzed using $x^2$-tests, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression with SPSS/WINdow 14.0. Results: Mean score for nurses' Happiness Index was 3.03 on a scale of 5. There were significant differences on the Happiness Index for the following: age, marriage, children, education, position, work experience, wages, number of beds, medical institution, health behavior, weight, and meal patterns. There was a positive correlation between the happiness index and nursing professionalism but a negative correlation between the happiness index and turnover intention. Conclusion: Results indicate that factors influencing happiness are autonomy, sense of calling and turnover intention suggesting the need to improve nursing professionalism for a life of happiness among hospital nurses.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the happiness level of one-person households according to gender in Korea and identify factors influencing householders' happiness. Methods: This was a descriptive correlational study design using the 2017 Community Health Survey data. The participants were 8,724 male and 16,810 female individuals in one-person households. Complex samples descriptive statistics, cross analysis, general linear model, and multi-order regression were conducted to identify the health status, health behavior, and factors influencing happiness. Results: The mean score of happiness was higher in female than male individuals. The main factors of happiness of male householders were suicide thought experience, subjective health level, and experience of having necessary medical services. The main factors of happiness of female householders were suicide thought experience, household income, depression experience. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop and implement nursing interventions and policies according to priorities for the happiness of one-person householders.

Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the relationship of health status, aging anxiety, social networking, generativity, and happiness and to investigate the main factors influencing happiness of late middle-aged adults. Methods: The study collected data from a total of 153 middle-aged men and women aged 50 to 64 years old from a consumer panel of Macromill-Embrain, the biggest online survey provider in Korea. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient and a stepwise multiple regression using the SPSS 22.0 program. Results: The subjects' happiness mean score was 16.17±9.29. Statistically significant differences in happiness were found according to education (F=4.38, p=.014), economic status (t=5.13, p<.001), and religion (t=2.18, p=.031). Happiness was correlated significantly with health status (r=.41, p<.001), aging anxiety (r=-.62, p<.001), family support (r=.43, p<.001), friend support (r=.36, p<.001) and generativity (r=.63, p<.001). The factors influencing happiness of late middle-aged adults were generativity (𝛽=.37, p<.001), aging anxiety (𝛽=-.35, p<.001), family support (𝛽=.20, p<.001), and economic status (𝛽=.13, p=.033). The explanatory power of the model was 58.0%. Conclusion: This study will be used as basic data when developing a nursing intervention program for successful aging by identifying factors that affect the happiness of late middle-aged adults.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify the factors influencing the happiness according to gender of the elderly living alone. Methods: This cross-sectional study used the raw data from the 2015 Community Health Survey. The subjects of this study were 14,705 elderly people aged 65 years or older, of which 2,198 were male elderly and 12,507 were female elderly. Results: The factors influencing the happiness of both male and female elderly were household income, depression, subjective stress level, subjective health level, quality of life, and lack of required medical service experience (p<.05). In addition, the male elderly were affected by the age, and the female elderly were affected by education, sleep time, walking and breakfast practice, and health screening (p<.05). Conclusions: It is necessary to develop and apply programs that can reduce the stress to increase the happiness of the elderly living alone, and efforts should be made not to cause a blind spot in terms of the health and welfare of the elderly living alone.
Purpose: This study tries to systematically understand factors that explain levels of happiness among pregnant women in the Ecological systems theory. Methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted with 169 pregnant women in Korea. Collected data from self-report questionnaires were analyzed by hierarchical regression analysis using the SPSS statistics 23 program. Results: A total of 5 models were examined according to individual, microsystem, mesosystem, exosystem, and macrosystem in the Ecological systems theory. In the first model including individual factors, extraversion, neuroticism, and physical and psychological change constitute significant factors explaining happiness. In the second model with microsystem factors and in the third one with mesosystem factors, marital intimacy appears to be a significant factor. In the fourth model including exosystem factors, community service is a significant factor. In the final model with social atmosphere, personality (${\beta}=.15$ for extraversion; ${\beta}=-.30$ for neuroticism), physical and psychological change (${\beta}=-.15$), marital intimacy (${\beta}=.35$), and community service (${\beta}=.18$) turn out to be significant. These factors explain 59% of the variance of happiness in the pregnant women in Korea. Conclusion: Considering the fact that pregnant women's happiness is explained by microsystem and exosystem factors as well as individual factors, developing intervention programs that can promote influencing factors such as marital intimacy and community service is necessary to improve levels of happiness among pregnant women in Korea.
This study investigates the effects of economic factors on happiness in terms of life satisfaction, one of the most important goals in human life, and examines the moderating role of financial management in the effect of financial stress. Data were collected total 341 individuals in Daejeon, Korea(235 college students and 105 women). The factors influencing life satisfaction were analyzed multiple regression analysis. Effects of moderating variables were tested hierarchical regression analysis. Subjective financial stress was related to both individualistic happiness and collectivistic happiness, whereas objective financial stress had a negative effect only on collectivistic happiness. Financial management (specifically control of expenditure behaviors) had positive effects on both individualistic happiness and collectivistic happiness. Financial management moderated the relationship between financial stress and happiness. The results have important implications.

This study examined the factors influencing the happiness of employees of the SME manufacturing industry. Data were collected from 139 employees using structured questionnaires, and were analyzed by a t-test, one way-ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and Hierarchical regression analysis using SPSS/WIN Ver 18.0 program. In general characteristics, happiness was significantly associated with age, level of education, religion, monthly income, monthly income satisfaction, position in the working area, and way of working. Happiness was positively correlated with self-esteem and perception of interpersonal caring behavior, and was negatively correlated with job stress. The factors influencing happiness was self-esteem and perception of interpersonal caring behavior, which explained 46.6%. Self-esteem and the perception of interpersonal caring behavior should be considered for improving the happiness of employees. The results will form the basis of nursing interventions to increase employees' happiness in the SME manufacturing industry.
