We propose an automatic modulation recognition scheme which extracts pre-defined key features from the received signal and then applies equal gain combining method to determine the used modulation. Moreover, we compare and analyze the performance of the proposed algorithm with that of decision-theoretic algorithm. Our scheme extracts five pre-defined key features from each data segment, a data unit for the key feature extraction, which are then averaged over all the segments to recognize the modulation according to the decision procedure. We check the performance of the proposed algorithm through computer simulations for analog modulations such as AM, FM, SSB and for digital modulations such as FSK2, FSK4, PSK2, and PSK4, by measuring recognition success rate varying SNR and data collection time. The result shows that the performance of the proposed scheme is comparable to that of the decision-theoretic algorithm with less complexity.
This paper presented an efficient transceiver structure of multiband Frequency Shift Keying (FSK) signals with direct sequence spread spectrum for maintaining covertness and performance. In aspect to covertness, direct sequence spread spectrum method, which multiplying by Pseudo Noise (PN) codes whose rate is much higher than that of data sequence, is employed. In aspect to performance, in order to overcome performance degradation caused by multipath and Doppler spreading, we applied multiband, turbo equalization, and weighting algorithm are applied. Based on the simulation results, by applying 4 number of multiband and number of chips are 8 and 32, experiments were conducted in a lake with a distance of moving from 300 m to 500 m between the transceivers. we confirmed that the performance was improved as the number of bands and chips are increased. Furthermore, the performance of multiband was improved when the proposed weighting algorithm was applied.

Interest in mountain accidents among the technical trends of disasters in Korea is increasing continuously. When accidents occur, the most common methods are location tracking and accident reporting using smartphones, and rescue activities are being carried out by using them. In this paper, we proposed an improvement of wireless safety system for mountain climbing safety using 447 FSK. Using the 447 MHz band transmitter / receiver, it accumulates position coordinates and data through position transmission and rescue signal transmission in case of anomalies. If a sender is out of the threshold of the set area range, a danger warning notification can be generated to quickly exit the danger zone. Provide services. In addition, it is considered that the health condition of the sender is continuously checked and the receiver is warned when the specified threshold is exceeded, so that it is possible to respond to the sender's disaster.
This paper proposed an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) based biomimetic communication method using a dolphin whistle which covertly transmits communication signals to allies. The proposed method divides the dolphin whistle into several time slots corresponding to a number of OFDM symbols, and modulates the communication signal by mapping differential phase shift keying (DPSK) symbols into subcarriers that have the frequency bands of the dolphin whistle in each slot. The advantages of the proposed method are as follows: In the conventional Chirp Spread Spectrum (CSS) and Frequency Shift Keying (FSK) based biomimetic communication methods, the discontinuity of the frequency contour is large, but the proposed method can reduce the discontinuity. Even if the modulation order is increased, the degradation of the mimicking performance is small. The computer simulations demonstrate that the Bit Error Rate (BER) and mimicking performance of the proposed method are better performance than those of the conventional CSS and FSK.

This paper presents a new method for shift keying using the combination of scaling function and wavelet named scaling wavelet shift keying (SWSK). An algorithm for SWSK modulation is carried out where the scaling function and the wavelet are encoded to 1 and 0 in accordance with the binary input, respectively. Signal energy, correlation coefficient and error probability of SWSK are derived from error probability of frequency shift keying(FSK). The performance is analyzed in terms of error probability and it is simulated in accordance with the kind of the wavelet. Based on the results, we can conclude that the proposed scheme is superior to the performance of the conventional schemes.

A FSK receiver RF block has been developed for Dubaisat-1 Low Earth Orbit satellite. The receiver has Doppler tracking function which compensate frequency shift on uplink channel for commanding the satellite. It consist of LNA, downconverter and IF module. The IF module has Doppler tracking circuitry which sweep and lock on to input signal. It satisfies the requirement of the Dubaisat-1 in mass, power consumption, tracking speed and BER performance.

Methods used for exploring marine resources and spaces include positioning a probe under water and then recalling it after a specified time. Hydro-acoustic Releasers are commonly used for positioning and retrieving of such exploration equipment. The most important factor in this kind of system is the reliability for recalling the instruments. The frequently used ultrasonic signal detection method can detect ultrasonic signals using a fixed comparator, but because of increased rates of errors due to outside interferences, information is repetitively acquired. This study presents an effective ultrasonic signal detection algorithm using the characteristics of a resonance and adaptive comparator Combined with the FSK+ASK modulator. As a result, approximately 8.8% of ultrasonic wave communication errors caused by background noise and transmission losses were reduced for effectively detecting ultrasonic waves. Furthermore, the resonance circuit's quality factor was enhanced (Q = 120 to 160). As such, the bias voltage of the transistor (Vb= 3.3 to 6.8V) was increased thereby enhancing the frequency's selectivity.

In this paper, the performance of the selective combining according to the channel selection decision method of frequency diversity is evaluated in the underwater frequency selective channel. The underwater acoustic channel in the shallow sea has a complex multipath characteristic by combining various environmental factors such as boundary surface reflection and sound wave refraction according to the water temperature layer. In particular, frequency selectivity due to multipath causes energy fluctuation in a communication channel, which reduces SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) and deteriorates communication performance. In this paper, we applied the frequency diversity technique using multiple channels to secure the communication performance according to the frequency selectivity by multipath. For each channel, 4-FSK (Frequency Shift Keying) and selective combining were applied, the performance was evaluated by applying the maximum value, average value, and majority decision of the signal in order to decide the demodulation channel selection of the selective combining.

Underwater acoustic communication channel is often defined as a multipath fading channel since the multipath arrivals from various paths interfere with each other and cause frequency dependent constructive or destructive interference in received signals. Therefore signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of received signal fluctuates as a function of frequency. In addition, sea surface fluctuation induces frequency dependent time variant signal fading due to coherent component variation of surface bounce path. The frequency shift keying (FSK) system is known to be less sensitive and more robust under these interference and fading, and M-ary frequency shift keying (MFSK) system is adopted to increase a data rate. In this study, a bit error rate (BER) of 4 channels 4FSK system are examined in shallow sea multipath channel. Experimental results show that RS code reduces efficiently the BER of 4FSK system since frequency dependent time-varying fading is characterized to give burst errors. The BER of a different data rate or different source-to-receiver range depends on not only the channel coherent bandwidth but also frequency dependent multipath fading.

Recently, by emerging of the ALE techniques that make it possible to providereliable communications link automatically, high frequency communiation is newly used as emergency communication and back-up for satellite communications. ALE signal is transmitted in burst, and the received signal is subject to distortions by detrimental multipath fading channels. In the case of that channel, the performance of ALE system is highly dependent upon that of synchronization techniques. In this paper, M-ary FSK signals are detected by a bank of bandpass filter, which is implemented using recusive DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform). Also an acquisition and trancking algorithm are designed uisng parallel structure and early-late-gate methods respectively. Finally, we verify the performance ofthe proposed synchronization algorithm by the computer simulation.
