Soft error correction controller for FPGA configuration memory (FPGA 재구성 메모리의 소프트에러 정정을 위한 제어기의 설계)

  • FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array) devices are widely used due to their merits in circuit development time, and development cost. Among various FPGA technologies, SRAM-based FPGAs have large cell capacity so that they are attractive for complex circuit design and their reconfigurability. However, they are weak in space environment where radiation energy particles cause Single Event Upset(SEU). In this paper, we designed a controller supervising SRAM-based FPGA to protect configuration memory inside. The controller is implemented on an Anti-Fusing FPGA. Radiation test was performed on the implemented computer board and the result show that our controller provides better SEU-resilience than TMR-only system.

  • Recently the telematics system is used widely. Users want to high quality communications. Since the primary advantage of using an array is to enhance a desired signal and reject jamming interferences, array signal processing is essential to satisfy unmet demand of user. In general, beamforming is a spatial filtering operation performed on the data received by an array of sensors. So we propose the beamformer design that use FPGA for real time processing. And we use zero-padding interpolation for high resolution data.

  • In this paper, hardware implementation of interface and control between two robots, the master and the slave robot, are designed. The master robot is the motion capturing device that captures motions of the human operator who wears it. The slave robot is the corresponding humanoid robot arms. Captured motions from the master robot are transferred to the slave robot to follow after the master. All hardware designs such as PID controllers, communications between the master robot, encoder counters, and PWM generators are embedded on a single FPGA chip. Experimental studies are conducted to demonstrate the performance of the FPGA controller design.

  • This paper presents the design of high speed bit and word processor for sequence logic control using a FPGA. This FPGA is able to execute sequence instruction during program fetch cycle, because the program memory was separated from the data memory for high speed execution at 40MHz clock. Also this processor has 274 instructions set with a 32bit fixed width, so instruction decoding time and data memory interface time was reduced. This FPGA was synthesized by V600EHQ240 and Foundation tool of Xilinx company. The final simulation was successfully performed under Foundation tool simulation environment. And the FPGA programmed by VHDL for a 240 pin HQFP package. Finally the benchmark was performed to prove that the designed for bit and word processor has better performance than Q4A of Mitsubishi for the sequence logic control.

  • This paper describes a design of a vector control module for AC motor using high density FPGA. In the proposed vector controller, the vector control blocks including inverse dq transform, space vector PWM and quadrature encoder pulse module are implemented in a FPGA using a VHDL. The simulation results are provided to show the validity of the proposed vector control module.

  • The third-party FFT IP cores available in today's markets do not provide the desired speed demands for optical communication. This study deals with the design and implementation of a 256-point Radix-4 100 Gbit/s FFT, where computational steps are reconsidered and optimized for high-speed applications, such as radar and fiber optics. Alternative methods for FFT implementation are investigated and Radix-4 is decided to be the optimal solution for our fully parallel FPGA application. The algorithms that we will implement during the development phase are to be tested on a Xilinx Virtex-6 FPGA platform. The proposed FFT core has a fully parallel architecture with a latency of nine clocks, and the target clock rate is 312.5 MHz.

  • This paper rotates to tile FPGA that is reffered to as the UTOSPI. The design goal of the FPGA is to convert the UTOPIA-3 bus interface to the SPI-3 bus interface, so that the SAR chips on the ATM interface board can be interfaced to the packet processor through this FPGA. We Propose a new architecture that has two Dual Port RAMs and flow control signals. To buffer data, the UTOSPI has a Dual port RAM in the receive direction and the same size of that in the transmit direction. This design has been implemented, compiled, and tested using a Xilinx Virtex-I XCV-300E FPGA.

  • Domestically, we are capable of designing high-end memory semiconductors, but not in processors, resulting in unbalance. Using Vivado as a development enivronment and implementing the processor on a Xilinx FPGA reduces time and cost dramatically. In this paper, the popular language VHDL which is widely used in Europe, universities, and research centers around the world for the digital system design is used for designing a pipelined 32-bit ARM processor, implemented on FPGA and verified by Integrated Logic Analyzer. As a result, the ARM processor implemented on FPGA could execute ARM instructions successfully.

  • Field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) are widely used for verification in chip development. In order to verify the circuit programmed to the FPGA, data must be input to the FPGA. There are many ways to communicate with a chip through a PC and an external board, but the simplest and easiest way is to use a universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter (UART). Most recently, most circuits are designed to be internally connected to the advanced microcontroller bus architecture (AMBA) bus. In other words, to verify the designed circuit easily and simply, data must be transmitted through the AMBA bus through the UART. Also the AMBA bus has been available in various versions since version 4.0 recently. Advanced peripheral bus (APB) is suitable for simple testing. In this paper, we design a circuit for UART-to-APB interface. Circuits designed using Verilog-HDL were implemented in Altera Cyclone FPGAs and were capable of operating at speeds up to 380 MHz.

  • In this paper, we propose a high-speed modular multiplication algorithm which revises conventional Montgomery's algorithm. A hardware architecture is also presented to implement 1024-bit RSA cryptosystem for digital signature based on the proposed algorithm. Each iteration in our approach requires only one addition operation for two n-bit integers, while that in Montgomery's requires two addition operations for three n-bit integers. The system which is modelled in VHDL(VHSIC Hardware Description Language) is simulated in functionally through the use of $Synopsys^{TM}$ tools on a Axil-320 workstation, where Altera 10K libraries are used for logic synthesis. For FPGA implementation, timing simulation is also performed through the use of Altera MAX + PLUS II. Experimental results show that the proposed RSA cryptosystem has distinctive features that not only computation speed is faster but also hardware area is drastically reduced compared to conventional approach.
