This paper compares simplified and finite element method (FEM) models for tower and blade in dynamic coupled analysis of floating wind turbine. A SPAR type wind turbine with catenary mooring lines is considered in numerical analysis. Floating body equation is derived using boundary element method (BEM) and convolution. Equations for mooring line, tower and blade are formulated with theories of catenary, elastic beam and aerodynamic rotating beam, respectively and FEM is applied in the formulation. By combining the equations, coupled solutions are calculated. Tower or blade may be assumed rigid or lumped body for simplicity in modeling. By comparing floating body motions, mooring line tensions and tower stresses with the simple model and original FEM model, the effect of including or neglecting elastic, rotating and aerodynamic behavior of tower and blade is discussed.
The FEM(Finite Element Method) can be used to analysis SRM(Switched Reluctance Motor) as it can account for the salient pole geometry of the stator and rotor and the nonlinear properties of the magnetic materials. However, FEM requirers a lot of computer memory and computing time because, the kind of SRM drivers is verity and the switching strategies are various for one SRM driver. In this paper we proposed the method of analysis of a SRM which results are similar to FEM and has very short computing time. The Inductance and torque for each phase current at each rotor position are calculated by using two-dimensional nonlinear FEM analysis. Using the look-up table of inductance and torque and the voltage equations of SRM we obtained the phase current and torque. To verify proposed algorithm, 3 phase 6/4 SRM is analysed and found a good agreement with FEM results. And computing time is about 1/1600 of the FEM analysis.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of capsulated slurry phase change material (PCM) on the thermal crack in mass concrete by experimental work and FEM analysis. In this study, three conditions of samples were prepared for evaluating the level of hydration heat, i.e., a material condition, a cement paste condition and a concrete condition. Also, a compressive strength test was conducted for FEM inverse analysis. Based on the results of the experiment, exothermic function coefficients of concrete with encapsulated slurry PCM were deducted by the inverse analysis. After that, they applied to FEM analysis of the mass scale concrete structures. From the results of this experiment, $31^{\circ}C$ capsulated slurry PCM had no super cooling phenomenon in the material condition. In the cement condition, hydration heat decreased by 34.61J when PCM of 1g was mixed. In the concrete condition, PCM of 6% was deducted as the best level in hydration heat absorption. In FEM inverse analysis, rate coefficient of reaction gradually decreased when PCM mixing ratio increased. But, temperature-rise coefficient increased when PCM mixing ratio exceeded 6%. For the inversed exothermic function coefficients applying to large scale concrete structures, a thermal cracking index increased by 0.05 when PCM of 1% was mixed.
Spring constants (displacement per unit applied load) of MEMS socket pins of given structures were computed by theoretical analysis and confirmed by the finite element method (FEM). In the theoretical analysis, the displacement of pins was calculated based on the 2-dimensional bending theory of the curved beam. For the 3-dimensional modeling, CATIA was used. After modeling, the raw data were transferred to ANSYS, which was employed in the 3-dimensional analysis for the calculation of the stress and strain and loaddisplacement The theoretical analysis and the FEM results were found to agree, with each showing the spring constants as 63.4 N/m within a reasonable load range. These results show that spring constants can be easily obtained through theoretical calculation without resorting to experiments and FEM analysis for simple and symmetric structures. For the some change of shape and structural stiffness, this theoretical analysis can be applied to MEMS socket pins.
This paper presents a comparative study of reinforced soil slope by using LEM and SSR-FEM. Current analysis methods for reinforced soil wall are based on LEM. SSR-FEM assumes a reduction of soil strength by a factor to reach a critical state prior to failure based on continuum mechanics. In this study the comparisons are concerned with the factor of safety and the potential failure surface in reinforced soil wall. We investigated the stability of the reinforced soil wall with a slope of $60^{\circ}$ by LEM and SSR-FEM. The comparisons indicated good performance of the SSR-FEM on stability analysis of reinforce soil wall.
CB100 is one of the channel type products in the steel beam. In this study, rolling process of CB100 is analyzed by 3D FEM simulation and rolling process. FEM simulation result is compared with rolling process data. Also the intermediate & finishing roll stress analysis is carried out and the suitability of the roll through roll stress resultant analysis is evaluated. In order to decrease the roll stress, new pass schedule is developed for stable load balance between intermediate and finishing rolling stand. Therefore new rolling pass schedule is verified by the analysis results of rolling process and roll stress. By the analysis results, the credibility of rolling process analysis was obtained and it was determined that the possibility of roll damage between intermediate and finishing mill was high. So the new pass schedule was developed. Through the result of rolling process and roll stress analysis, it was obtained that the reduction of roll stress and stable load balance.
FEM analysis of the smart skin structure, and application of the sandwich structures investigated. The honeycomb manufactures only provide stillness of thickness direction and transverse shear modulus. Although these are dominant mechanical properties. the other mechanical properties are needed in FEM analysis. Hence, this work shows procedures of obtaining those mechanical properties. Honeycomb material was assumed to be ar, isotropic material and properties are estimated by its dominant honeycomb properties. The other honeycomb properties are then obtained by mechanical properties of Nomex. Buckling test and three point bending test were simulated by ABAQUS. Both the shell and solid element models were used. The results were compared with experimental results and analytical approaches. They showed good agreements. This study shows a guideline of FEM analysis of smart skin structure using commercial a FEM package.
Lightweight design, safety, vibration, energy absorption capability can no longer achieve without adhesive bond joint. Base on those concepts and cost reduction, adhesive bond FEM model development has been done. The FEM analysis and experiments were conducted in this study. Crash condition is 143 Kg Hammer weight and unit meter Height. and then These test results were used to develop resonable FEM model. To estimate which FEM model is resonable, compare hybrid joint specimen experiment results with FEM analysis results. Conclusively this study achieves optimization bonding model related crash and adhesive bond jointed hat profile crash characters.

A permeability of concrete is a very important factors evaluating durability. So, we are carrying out a lot of relational data bases and experiment regarding a permeability. In order to evaluate a permeability of concrete, we are proceeding study on the water penetration and diffusion in concrete by water pressure. Because a way to evaluate a permeability of concrete has a limit. We will present a good method of evaluating durability of concrete using the water penetration depth of concrete by water pressure. To carry this out, we executed experiment with penetration depth of concrete by water pressure and verified it though FEM analysis.
