Structure Optimization and 3D Printing Manufacture Technology of Pull Cord Switch Components Applied to Power Plant Coal Yard (발전소 저탄장에 적용되는 풀코드스위치 부품의 구조최적화 3D 프린팅 제작기술 개발)

  • Recently, 3D printing technology has been applied to make a concept model and working mockup of an industrial application. On the other hand, this technology has limited applications in industrial products due to the materials and reliability of the 3D printed product. In this study, the components of a full cord switch module are proposed as a case of a 3D printed component that can be used as a substitute for a short period. These are hub-driven and lever lockup components that have the structural characteristics of breaking down frequently in the emergency operating status. To ensure the structural strength for a substitute period, research of structure optimization was performed because 3D printing technology has a limitation in the materials used. After optimizing the structure variables of the hub-driven component, reasonable results can be drawn in that the safety factors of the left and right switching mode are 1.243 (${\Delta}153.67%$) and 3.156 (${\Delta}404.96%$). The lever lockup component has a structural weak point that can break down easily on the lockup-part because of a cantilever shape and bending moment. The rib structure was applied to decrease the deflection. In addition, optimization of the structural variables was performed, showing a safety factor of 7.52(${\Delta}26%$).

  • Many 3D printing technologies are being used in various industries, and their demands for well-educated engineers are increasing. Moreover, novel technologies are being developed to overcome the limits of existing 3D printing technologies. In this regard, adequate education and a related curriculum especially in the Mechanical Engineering field, which is the basis of the industry, is essential. In this paper, the development of the 3D printing curriculum and its assessment in Mechanical Engineering education are proposed. The education program consisted of lectures and practice. It consisted of major 3D printing technologies, such as SLA, FDM, SLS, LOM, and Polyjet. Moreover, post-processing, room temperature vulcanizing (RTV), and coloring were also taught. The effectiveness of the proposed education program was assessed by the questionnaire survey, and the results were analyzed. Areas of improvement were deduced from the survey results.

  • MRI scan is a useful method in the diagnosis of musculoskeletal excellent contrast of the organization. Depending on the patient's musculoskeletal examinations state the type of aids provided the aid is used there is also challenging as well as the costs do not vary. This study was produced by the use of 3D printing technology, an MRI aids. Aids in the production process, then through 3D modeling and then convert stl files using (3D MAX.2014, Fusion360) slicing programs (Cubicreater 2.1ver., Cura 15.4ver) converted to G-code printed on the FDM scheme (Cubicon Style, output was MICRO MAKE). The use of assistive devices before and after images Clinical evaluation method palliative $3.20{\pm}0.88$, $3.95{\pm}0.76$ after using the aids used to aid improved the quality of the image.   • Recently, the demand for eco-friendly parts has increased to reduce materials and parts that use fossil fuels. This has exacerbated the increase of energy prices and the enforcement of regulations by environmental agencies. Currently, polylactic acid (PLA) is a solution, as a common and eco-friendly material. PLA is a biodegradable material that can replace traditional petrochemical polymers. PLA has great advantages since it is resistant to cracking and shrinkage. When it is manufactured, there are few harmful byproducts. Improvement in the brittleness characteristics is another important task to be monitored throughout the production of industrial parts. Improvement in the brittleness property of products lowers the tensile strength and tensile elasticity modulus of the parts. This study focused on the mechanical properties of 3D-printed PLA parts. Tensile tests are performed while varying the infill print parameters to evaluate the applicability of PLA in several industrial areas.

A Case Study of Three Dimensional Human Mimic Phantom Production for Imaging Anatomy Education (영상해부학 교육을 위한 3차원 인체 모사 조형물 제작 사례 연구)

  • In this study, human mimic phantoms outputted by three-dimensional (3D) printing technology are reported. Polylactic acid and a personal 3D printer - fused deposition modeling (FDM) - are used as the main material and the printing device. The output of human mimic phantoms performed in the following order: modeling, slicing and G-code conversion, output variable setting, 3D output, and post-processing. The students' learning satisfaction (anatomical awareness, study interest) was measured on 5-point Likert scale. After that, Twenty of those phantoms were outputted. The total output took 11,691 minutes (194 hours 85 minutes) and the average output took 584.55 minutes (9 hours 7 minutes). The filament used for the experiment was 2,390.2 g, and the average use of the filament was 119.51 g. The learning satisfaction of anatomical awareness was 4.6 points on the average and the interest of the class was on average 4.5 points. It is expecting that 3D printing technology can enhance the learning effect of imaging anatomy education.

  • Objectives: This study aimed to review the characteristics of three-dimensional printing technology focusing on printing types, materials, and health hazards. We discussed the methodologies for exposure assessment on hazardous substances emitted from 3D printing through article reviews. Methods: Previous researches on 3D printing technology and exposure assessment were collected through a literature review of public reports and research articles reported up to July 2018. We mainly focused on introducing the technologies, printing materials, hazardous emissions during 3D printing, and the methodologies for evaluation. Results: 3D printing technologies can be categorized by laminating type. Fused deposition modeling(FDM) is the most widely used, and most studies have conducted exposure assessment using this type. The printing materials involved were diverse, including plastic polymer, metal, resin, and more. In the FDM types, the most commonly used material was polymers, such as acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene(ABS) and polylactic acids(PLA). These materials are operated under high-temperature conditions, so high levels of ultrafine particles(mainly nanoparticle size) and chemical compounds such as organic compounds, aldehydes, and toxic gases were identified as being emitted during 3D printing. Conclusions: Personal desktop 3D printers are widely used and expected to be constantly distributed in the future. In particular, hazardous emissions, including nano sized particles and various thermal byproducts, can be released under operation at high temperatures, so it is important to identify the health effects by emissions from 3D printing. Furthermore, appropriate control strategies should be also considered for 3D printing technology.

A Study on Problem Solving of 3D Printing Production of Scaffold Using ADRIGE TRIZ Algorithm and DOE (ADRIGE 트리즈 알고리즘과 실험계획법을 이용한 인공지지체 3D프린팅의 제작문제 해결에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we investigated the problems and solutions in the production of scaffolds using commercially available FDM 3D printers. We used ADRIGE TRIZ algorithm to systematically analyze the problems and suggest solutions. We printed scaffolds using suggested solutions. We measured the pore size and printing time of the scaffolds. We have confirmed that the printing precision is greater than 99% and the printing time is decreased by half. The suggested solutions proved its validity through experiments and showed satisfactory results.

  • In 3D printing technology, materials that can be printed are increasing along with the development of material engineering, and materials that can be used in the field of radiation are also increasing. Therefore, depending on the composition and density of the materials used, the applied field can be different and applied, so the composition and characteristics of the materials must also be considered. In this study, 10 filaments with different properties were selected using a 3D printer of the FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) method, and the brightness change of each filament was checked using a diagnostic X-ray generator, and the CT number was measured through CT. I wanted to find a material similar to bone. As a result, a material called silicon carbide was found, which has a similar brightness and CT number to bone. It is thought that further research will be presented as basic data for various studies with a density similar to that of human bones.

Usefulness Evaluation and Fabrication of the Radiation Shield Using 3D Printing Technology (3차원 프린팅 기술을 이용한 차폐체 제작 및 유용성 평가)

  • In the medical field, X-rays are essential in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, and the use of X-rays continues to increase with the development of imaging technology, but X-rays have the disadvantage of radiation exposure. Although lead protection tools are used in clinical practice to protect against radiation exposure, lead is classified as a heavy metal and can cause harmful reactions such as lead poisoning. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the usefulness of the shield fabricated using materials of FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) 3D printer. In order to confirm the filament's line attenuation factor, phantoms were fabricated using PLA, XT-CF20, Wood, Glow and Brass, and CT scan was performed. And the shielding sheet of 100 × 100 × 2 mm size was modeled, the dose and shielding rate was measured by using a diagnostic X-ray generator and irradiation dose meter, and the shielding rate with lead protection tools. As a result of the experiment, the CT number of the brass was measured to be the highest, and the shielding sheet was manufactured by using the brass. As a result of confirming with the diagnostic X-ray generator, the shielding rate was increased in the shielding sheet having a thickness of 6 mm upon X-ray irradiation under the condition of 100 kV and 40 mAs. It measured by 90% or more, and confirmed that the shielding rate is higher than apron 0.25 mmPb. As a result of this study, it was confirmed that the shield fabricated by 3D printing technology showed high shielding rate in the diagnostic X-ray region. there was.

A Study on the Development of 3D printed garments for Fashion Show (패션쇼를 위한 3D 프린팅 의상 디자인 개발 연구)

  • This study develops 3D-printed-garment collections for a fashion show presentation. A design concept using traditional patterns that consisted of garments regarding the limitation of the printing technology was investigated in order to develop the collection. The structures of the connecting joints of the textile parts which could be easily and sturdily interconnected were invented. Wearability as garments that could be naturally worn on the human body were sought. As a result, four 3D-printed-garments were developed. The 1st garment composed of objects based on a 'Yeon-Dang-Cho'-pattern was constructed as a geometric robe style using a FDM 3D printer and transparent TPU filaments. The 2nd and 3rd 3D-printed-garments composed of an object based on a 'Boe-Sang-Hwa'-pattern was constructed as a distorted one-piece exaggerating the silhouettes of shoulders and waist parts as well as a straight asymmetric tunic style that used the same printer and material as the 1st garment. The last garment composed of an object based on a 'Boe-Sang-Hwa'-pattern printed using a SLA 3D printer and flexible-liquid-resin was constructed attaching the objects on the fabric material by the hot-press machine. The four developed garments were presented in the opening fashion show of 'the 6th International 3D-printing Korea Expo'. This study provides a basic case for related studies to adapt 3D-printing technology in textile pattern development of garment construction.
