Application of AI models for predicting properties of mortars incorporating waste powders under Freeze-Thaw condition

  • The usability of waste materials as raw materials is necessary for sustainable production. This study investigates the effects of different powder materials used to replace cement (0%, 5% and 10%) and standard sand (0%, 20% and 30%) (basalt, limestone, and dolomite) on the compressive strength (fc), flexural strength (fr), and ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) of mortars exposed to freeze-thaw cycles (56, 86, 126, 186 and 226 cycles). Furthermore, the usability of artificial intelligence models is compared, and the prediction accuracy of the outputs is examined according to the inputs (powder type, replacement ratio, and the number of cycles). The results show that the variability of the outputs was significantly high under the freeze-thaw effect in mortars produced with waste powder instead of those produced with cement and with standard sand. The highest prediction accuracy for all outputs was obtained using the adaptive-network-based fuzzy inference system model. The significantly high prediction accuracy was obtained for the UPV, fc, and fr of mortars produced using waste powders instead of standard sand (R2 of UPV, fc and ff is 0.931, 0.759 and 0.825 respectively), when under the freeze-thaw effect. However, for the mortars produced using waste powders instead of cement, the prediction accuracy of UPV was significantly high (R2=0.889) but the prediction accuracy of fc and fr was low (R2fc=0.612 and R2ff=0.334).

  • Let W(z) be a power series with operator coefficients such that multiplication by W(z) is contractive in C(z). The overlapping space $L(\varphi)$ of H(W) in C(z) is a Herglotz space with Herglotz function $\varphi(z)$ which satisfies $\varphi(z)+\varphi^*(z^{-1})=2[1-W^{*}(z^{-1})W(z)]$. The identity ${}_{L(\varphi)}={-}_{H(W)}$ holds for every f(z) in $L(\varphi)$ and for every vector c.

  • In this paper, we investigate the problem of transcendental entire functions that share two values with one of their derivative. Let f be a transcendental entire function, n and k be two positive integers. If $f^n-Q_1$ and $(f^n)^{(k)}-Q_2$ share 0 CM, and $n{\geq}k+1$, then $(f^n)^{(k)}{\equiv}{\frac{Q_2}{Q_1}}f^n$. Furthermore, if $Q_1=Q_2$, then $f=ce^{\frac{\lambda}{n}z}$, where $Q_1$, $Q_2$ are polynomials with $Q_1Q_2{\not\equiv}0$, and c, ${\lambda}$ are non-zero constants such that ${\lambda}^k=1$. This result shows that the Conjecture given by W. $L{\ddot{u}}$, Q. Li and C. Yang [On the transcendental entire solutions of a class of differential equations, Bull. Korean Math. Soc. 51 (2014), no. 5, 1281-1289.] is true. Also we exhibit some examples to show that the conditions of our result are the best possible.

Electrical and Structural Properties of $CaF_2$ Film for TFT Applications (TFT응용을 위한 $CaF_2$ 박막의 전기적, 구조적 특성)

  • TFT의 게이트 절연막으로 사용되는 절연체는 우수한 절연특성과 낮은 계면포획전하밀도($D_{it}$)를 요구한다. 이에 본 연구에서는 우수한 절연특성을 가지며, 격자상수가 Si과 유사한 $CaF_2$의 증착 특성을 연구하였다. 진공증착법을 이용하여 p형 Si(100) 기판위에 $CaF_2$의 기판온도, 두께를 변화시켜 전기적, 구조적 특성을 평가하였다. 또한 Si 기판에 방향에 따른 박막의 특성을 조사하였다. 구조적 특성분석으로부터 Si(100) 기판의 경우 $CaF_2$는 (200)방향으로 주도적인 성장을 하였으며 기판온도를 상승시킴에 따라 (220)방향으로도 성장을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 열처리 전후의 구조적 특성은 SEM을 통해서 확인 할 수 있었다. 열처리 전후의 특성 변화로부터 저온($100^{\circ}C$이하)에서는 기판과의 성장방향과 동일하였으며 고온($200^{\circ}C$이상)에서는 기판방향과는 다른 방향 성장 결과를 얻었다. 전기적 특성평가를 위하여 C-V 특성을 평가하였다. C-V 특성으로부터 Si(100) 기판의 온도가 $100^{\circ}C$, $1455\AA$ 두께로 증착한$CaF_2$ 박막의 $D_{it}$$1.8{\times}10^{11}cm^{-1}eV^{-1}$로 낮은 값을 가지 고 있었으며 0.1MV/cm에서 누설전류밀도가 $10^{-8}A/cm^2$ 이었다.

Germination of Hybrid Ginseng Seeds, and Activities of Lipoxygenase(LOX) in Panax ginseng Species (교잡인삼의 종자발아 특성 및 Lipoxygenase 활성 비교)

  • An investigation was conducted to ascertain the basic information on characteristics of embryonic tissue development among Korean Ginseng, American ginseng, $F_{1}$ hybrids and $BC_{1}F_{1}(F_{1}$ pollen back cross to $BC_{1}=Korean\;Ginseng)seeds$. The specific activities of lipoxygenase (LOX) and the protein assays were made during the above embry­onic growth period at 5 or 25 degree C. The results are summarized as follows: The fresh weights(mg) of germinating seeds were significantly different among species. Ginseng seeds were stratified at $5^{\circ}C\;for\;60\;days$ the ratios of embryo/endosperms in $P.g.,\;P.q\;or\;F_{1}\;were\;about\;90{\%}$. The ratio was in $BC_{1}F_{1},\;79.2{\%}$ during the same period. The ratios of embryo/endosperms of seeds of P.g. or P.q. germinated at $5^{\circ}C$ showed rather higher values as compared to that at $25^{\circ}C$ LOX specific activity the highest in the $F_{1}$ and decreased in the order of P.g., P.q., and $BC_{1}F_{1}$. The highest LOX specific activity was shown at 80 days after sowing, followed by 70 days sowing, the least LOX activity was shown at 60 days.

  • Let $\mathbf{c}=\{c_n\}_{n{\in}\mathbb{Z}}\in{\ell}^1(\mathbb{Z})$ and $\{f_n\}_{n{\in}\mathbb{Z}}$ be a frame (Riesz basis, respectively) of $L^2(\mathbb{R})$. We obtain necessary and sufficient conditions of $\mathbf{c}$ under which $\{\mathbf{c}{\ast}_{\lambda}f_n\}_{n{\in}\mathbb{Z}}$ becomes a frame (Riesz basis, respectively) of $L^2(\mathbb{R})$, where ${\lambda}$ > 0 and $(\mathbf{c}{\ast}_{\lambda}f)(t)\;:=\;{\sum}_{n{\in}\mathbb{Z}}c_nf(t-n{\lambda})$. When $\{\mathbf{c}{\ast}_{\lambda}f_n\}_{n{\in}\mathbb{Z}}$ becomes a frame of $L^2(\mathbb{R})$, we present its frame operator and the canonical dual frame in a simple form. Some interesting examples are included.

  • In this present work, the authors obtain Fekete-Szeg$\ddot{o}$ inequality for certain normalized analytic function $f(z)$ defined on the open unit disk for which $$\frac{{\lambda}{\beta}z^3(L(a,c)f(z))^{{\prime}{\prime}{\prime}}+(2{\lambda}{\beta}+{\lambda}-{\beta})z^2(L(a,c)f(z))^{{\prime}{\prime}}+z(L(a,c)f(z))^{{\prime}}}{{\lambda}{\beta}z^2(L(a,c)f(z))^{{\prime}{\prime}}+({\lambda}-{\beta})z(L(a,c)f(z))^{\prime}+(1-{\lambda}+{\beta})(L(a,c)f(z))}\;(0{\leq}{\beta}{\leq}{\lambda}{\leq}1)$$ lies in a region starlike with respect to 1 and is symmetric with respect to the real axis. Also certain applications of the main result for a class of functions defined by Hadamard product (or convolution) are given. As a special case of this result, Fekete-Szeg$\ddot{o}$ inequality for a class of functions defined through fractional derivatives are obtained.

  • Potentiometric cell oxygen sensors using $CaF_{2}$ were fabricated for monitering the oxygen partial pressure in the low temperature range ($300^{\circ}C{\sim}$500^{\circ}C). The disk type oxygen sensors consist of a reference electrode: Air($O_{2}:21%$)|Pt, a solid electrolyte $CaF_{2}$, and a sensing metel Pt electrode. And the change in open circuit emf of the disk type cell was about 45mV for the oxygen concentration range, $0.1%{\sim}10%$, at the cell temperature of $400^{\circ}C$. Also, the reference electrode incorporated type sensor showed the change of 40mV for 0.1% to 10% oxygen partial pressure range.

  • Reaction of Re(O)(PPh3)2Cl3,I, with 2,3,4,5,6-pentafluoroaniline (C6F5NH2), produced Re(NC6F5)(PPh3)2Cl3, II. The product has been characterized by 1H-NMR, elemental analysis, and X-ray diffraction. II crystallizes in the orthorhombic system, space group Pna21 with cell parameters a=18.763Å, b=14.737(2)Å, c=16.707(3)Å, Z=4. Least-square refinement of the structure led to an R(wR2)factor of 0.0455(0.1148) for 3319 unique reflections of I > 2σ(I) and for 174 variables.
