Effective way of cooking oil fire extinguishment is using water mist system which has cooling and smothering effects. Low pressure water mist system has advantage because it is compatible with existing sprinkler systems. To increase the effectiveness of low pressure water mist system, additives can be used which increase the momentum of water particle and the chemical effect. In this experiment, aqueous film forming form(AFFF) agent is used as additive and the effect of additive concentration and water pressure are experimented. For the extinguishment of cooking oil fire such as soybean and olive oils, AFFF agent is effective and can decrease the fire extinguishing time and water consumption.
A water mist system was considered as a possible alternative to a gaseous suppression system that can not prevent re-ignition after fire extinguishment for a power transformer room. This study deals with the fire suppression capability of the water mist systems. High-and low-pressure water mist systems were examined to compare efficiency of both systems. The power transformer examined in this study occupied about $7\%$ of a $10m\times10m\times$ transformer room. Full-scale suppression tests were performed for six different fire scenarios: two spray fires, three pool fires and one cascade fire. The fire suppression test results demonstrated that the high-pressure system was superior to the low-pressure system, especially considering oxygen depletion and the ambient temperature distribution.

The robot introduced in this paper is the Fire-Extinguishing Rescue Robot for indoor work which is considered to be a part of the Operation for Future Developmental Power. It is briefly introduced about the background of how we began this project, our goals, where we are today and what we would like to achieve from now on. Main contents include introduction to the equipments for Fire-Extinguishing Rescue robots that have been developed in advanced countries and the compositional concept of the developmental process, the GUI schematic, searching methods for fire inside a house, mechanical schematic and the present conditions of how the core technologies are developing through.
Purpose: Recently, large-scale forest fires caused by climate change, natural disasters, and human factors have been increasing every year in the East Coast and Taebaek Mountains region. Although forest fire extinguishing using helicopters is currently increasing, the need to introduce air force transport aircraft has continued to be raised due to the importance of early fire extinguishment to respond to large forest fires and the difficulty of extinguishing forest fires between sheep. This study seeks to present a plan for developing a post-fire management system for several aspects - achieving operational objectives, overcoming the operating environment, selecting a staging area, and efficient operation measures - to efficiently perform forest fire extinguishing missions using Air Force transport aircraft. Method: Based on literature research on forest fire extinguishing, forest fire extinguishing experiments using fixed-wing aircraft, and the operation status and operation method of forest fire extinguishing helicopters, the pros and cons of helicopter operation and the effects of large forest fire extinguishing using a large transport aircraft (C-130) Analyze the effectiveness of operation through analysis. Results: When extinguishing a large forest fire, an effective CM (Consequence Management) application plan was derived, including effective operation, control, command system, dispatch request, and forest fire extinguishment when integrating helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft (C-130). Conclusion: The application of the concept of CM (Consequence Management) is partially applied to some areas of chemical, biological, and radiological (CBRNE) protection in Korea, but efficient operation, control, and command systems are established when integrated operation of helicopters and large aircraft (C-130) in forest fire extinguishment. the concept of CM (Consequence Management), which is operated in advanced countries, was applied for safety management, dispatch requests, and forest fire extinguishing, thereby contributing to the establishment of a more advanced disaster and post-disaster management system.
Full-scale fire extinguishment tests were conducted to develop loaded stream fire extinguishing systems for protecting underground transmission cables. The dimension of test mock-up was 5.5m height${\times}3m$ width ${\times}6m$ length, and six 154kV OF cables were piled up. Gasoline was used to ignite cates. Linear heat detection cables were installed on top of 154 kV OF cable and discharge nozzles were installed on the top and sidewalls, respectively. As a result, both surface fires and deap-seated fires were extinguished successfully within the specified 3 minutes by discharging loaded stream agent.
The present study describes the cooling performance of two kinds of water mist systems used in fire extinguishment. The cooling is necessary for the prevention of an auto re-ignition of the power transformer. A heat source for such the re-ignition is the accumulated thermal energy in the dielectric oil from the transformer core. Because of the weight of the real core, reduced-scale experiments are carried out. A similarity analysis Is also performed to determine the discharge time of the water mist systems from the experimental results. The discharge time to prevent the re-ignition in the real-scale transformer is estimated about 12 hour from the similarity analysis of the reduced-scale experiments.

Over 100 experiments have been conducted at the University of Maryland to evaluate the performance of a water mist fire suppression system for protection of an interstitial space below a raised subfloor. Experiments are conducted as part of an ongoing research effort to compare the fire suppression capabilities of various water mist system designs in a raised subfloor space. Water mist system design parameters considered in the investigation include means of actuation, concentration of water mist required for extinguishment of fires, and delivery mechanisms of water mist within close proximity to the fire. Delivery of the required concentration of water mist within close proximity to the fire is a principal factor governing the adequacy of water mist systems. Two sets of experiments have been conducted to document the performance of water mist system designs. One set is involved in documenting the concentration of water mist as a function of position within the space. The second set of experiments is concerned with the ability of water mist system designs to control fires in the space. One result of the research is the assessment of the ability of a water mist system to control fires at particular locations as a function of water mist density at that location.

Analyzed in the NFDS, The average number of fires in vinyl temporary buildings is more than 1,000 in annually. And the number of deaths and injuries was around 30 people in every year. According to the National Fire Agency, There are 142,386 vinyl temporary buildings for Agriculture and Fishery, of which 4,720 are residential vinyl temporary buildings in illegally. Model house is subject to regulation in fire-related law. But, even though it's the same temporary building, Vinyl temporary building is not subject to regulation. For this reason, Vinyl temporary buildings are left in the blind spot of fire safety. Therefore, In this study, We propose that amend of Act on installation and management of firefighting systems, make of temporary fire safety controller, develop and apply of alarm system that is connected to a single-alarm smoke dretector, organize and operate volunteer fire brigade of the crop group to prevent and extinguish the fire.

Large scale fire tests were conducted to develop water mist nozzles as a component of fixed water- based fire fighting systems for Ro-Ro spaces and special category spaces. Fire scenarios for this system consist of two cases which are for cargo fire in a simulated truck and for passenger vehicle fire, and each case has 3 different tests according to the position between fixed water mist nozzles and fire source. Every experiment proceeded for 30 minutes and acceptance criteria were based on gas temperature, fuel package's damage and ignition of targets. This study primarily dealt with the experimental results of cargo fire and focused on fire suppression capability in accordance with discharge pressure, flow rate and flow characteristics like swirl and penetration of the developed water mist nozzles. It appeared that low pressure water mist nozzles with about 40 L/min were able to control fire occurred in Ro-Ro spaces.
