  • In the linear model which consider both the multivariate parallel-line bioassay and the multivariate linear calibration, this paper presents a Bayesian procedure which is an extension of Hunter and Lamboy (1981) and has several advantages compared with the non Bayesian techniques. Based on the methods of this article we discuss the effect of multivariate calibration and give a numerical example.

  • Raman vibrational Q0branch spectra of pure CO are measured by using the technique of quasicw inverse Raman spectroscopy utilizing a pulsed single-frequency laser source. This approach gives enhanced sensitivity compared to earlier work which employed CW lasers, allowing extension of that work to higher accuracy, higher J states, and higher pressure. Fitting laws with pertubation theory and modified energy gap(MEG) theory are described, and the line broadening and shifting coefficients of J=0 to 24 are determined with both fitting laws.

  • The Jensen and Mercer inequalities are very important inequalities in information theory. The article provides the generalization of Mercer's inequality for convex functions on the line segments. This result contains Mercer's inequality as a particular case. Also, we investigate bounds for Shannon's entropy and give some new applications in zeta function and analysis.

  • The study analyzes the development of slim-fit formal pants patterns for middle-aged men. This study suggests a new pattern that complements the problems of the existing fit on the basis of the standard nude size for middle-aged men with lower garments through the analyses of one-tuck pants patterns from 5 popular brands. As a result, the waistline is lowered by 0.8cm out of consideration for the waist circumference. The crotch extension is reduced by 1.5cm, the back crotch length is revised, the center back waist point is raised by 0.9cm, and the hip line is straightened. The slim-fit is perfected of the new lines from the thigh to knee-line.

  • Let X be a complex manifold of dimension n $n{\geqslant}2$ and let ${\Omega}{\Subset}X$ be a weakly q-convex domain with smooth boundary. Assume that E is a holomorphic line bundle over X and $E^{{\otimes}m}$ is the m-times tensor product of E for positive integer m. If there exists a strongly plurisubharmonic function on a neighborhood of $b{\Omega}$, then we solve the ${\bar{\partial}}$-problem with support condition in ${\Omega}$ for forms of type (r, s), $s{\geqslant}q$ with values in $E^{{\otimes}m}$. Moreover, the solvability of the ${\bar{\partial}}_b$-problem on boundaries of weakly q-convex domains with smooth boundary in $K{\ddot{a}}hler$ manifolds are given. Furthermore, we shall establish an extension theorem for the ${\bar{\partial}}_b$-closed forms.

  • This paper deals with the numerical methods for the reconstruction of the source term in a linear parabolic equation from final overdetermination. We assume that the source term has the form f(x)h(t) and h(t) is given, which guarantees the uniqueness of the inverse problem of determining the source term f(x) from final overdetermination. We present the regularization methods for reconstruction of the source term in the whole real line and with Neumann boundary conditions. Moreover, we show the connection of the solutions between the problem with Neumann boundary conditions and the problem with no boundary conditions (on the whole real line) by using the extension method. Numerical experiments are done for the inverse problem with the boundary conditions.

  • In order to study the influence of a circular inclusion on a stress field neat a crack tip, mutual interference of a crack and the circular inclusion is analyzed by using the two dimensional boundary element method program made for the analysis of a bimaterial inclusion. The stress intensity factor of an inclusion which has small stiffness is a little greater than that of large stiffness in the near-by crack tip, and similar values tends to appear for distant crack tips. A line crack shows the repetition phenomena which caused by stress mutual interference depending on the radius and stiffness of an inclusion, and the repetition phenomena becoms weak in the inclusion which has large stiffness. Stress mutual interference shows repetition phenomena after extension of a line crack by the length of the radius of the inclusion which has small stiffness.

  • Experimental investigations have revealed significant mismatches between analytical estimates and experimentally measured deflections of transmission towers. These are attributed to bolt slip and joint flexibility. This study focuses on effects of joint flexibility on tower deflections and proposes criterions for permissible deflection limits based on the stresses in joints. The objective has been framed given that guidelines are not available in the codes of practices for transmission towers with regard to the permissible limits of deflection. The analysis procedure is geometric and material nonlinear with consideration of joint flexibility in the form of extension or contraction of the cover plates. The deflections due to bolt slip are included in the study by scaling up the deflections obtained from analysis by a factor. Using the results of the analysis, deflection limits for the towers are proposed by limiting the stresses in the joints. The obtained limits are then applied to a new full scale tower to demonstrate the application of the current study.

  • In recent years, the Thin Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display (TFT-LCD) is used in a variety of products as an interfacing device between human and them. Since TFT-LCDs have trend toward larger Panel sizes and higher spatial and/or gray-scale resolution, pixel charging characteristic is very important for the large panel size and high resolution TFT-LCD pixel characteristics. In this paper, both data line precharging method and line time extension (LiTEX) method is applied to Pixel Design Array Simulation Tool (PDAST) and the pixel charging characteristics of TFT-LCD array were simulated, which were compared with the results calculated by both PDAST In which the conventional device model of a-Si TFTs and gate step method is implemented.
