  • Purpose: To analyze the trends of study related with case management in Korean nursing in order to present the direction for future research. Methods: This article reviewed 15 studies from 7 nursing Journals and dissertations published in Korea from 1995 to 2006. The studies were examined according to the research topics, research subjects and methods and research results. Results: Only 15 articles related to case management were published in nursing journals between 1995 and 2006, most of which were from 2001 to 2003. The majority of the articles (53.3%) was experimental designs and their subjects were mostly adults (72.7%). The major topic of the articles was the effects of nursing interventions, followed by development for case management model, applying program for CM and developing case management strategies. Conclusion: This study suggests the need for further research in various areas of case management and the development of case management theory related to nursing.

  • Relationship between body and space is fundamental in space design. The perception and concept of human body in each age directly affected the space makings of that time. Thoughts on human body are related to various periodical backgrounds such as culture, art, technology and etc. Body-Space relationship has been changed through different epochs and is being changed in the present time too. In contemporary cities, architectural programs has been fragmented and activities of individuals become more articulated. The rigidity of each architectural program has been forced to be more flexible amalgamation of diverse behaviors by dynamic urban time-space formations and patterns. Based on this current situations, new experimental designs that question the existing preconceived relationship between body and space in different views. These design experiments attempt to overcome the solid physical fixation of architectural buildings and to directly relate human body to intelligent devices, technologies, machines as well as spaces. This research focus on the innovative design projects in which body, machine, space are smartly compound as one organization. The purpose of this study is to examine the new Body-Space relationship as well as some relevant case projects in contemporary fashion, furniture, interior design and architecture.

  • Secondary batteries with high performance are essential in widespread use of modern portable devices such as cellular phones and laptop computers. High energy density, long cycle life, and safety are some of important requirements for secondary battery. To achieve such characteristics, a mixing proportion of electrolyte solution ingredients in the battery should be carefully chosen. In this paper, using statistical design of mixture experiments (DOME), we attempt to find an optimum condition of designing the secondary battery. DOME has a distinct feature in that the experimental region is represented by simplex, rather than hypercube, because the sum of blend proportions should be unity. Several designs based upon this point have been proposed for mixture experiments. Among them, an extreme vertices design is employed in this paper because there are a couple of blend constraints to be considered. In order to investigate how the mixing proportion interacts with other manufacturing factors, a fractional factorial design is also included across the extreme vertices design. As a result, we find that the blend proportion of solution ingredients has a significant effect on battery performances. By simultaneously optimizing two battery capacities, this paper proposes an optimum blend proportion according to process factor settings.

  • Since the first commercial NMR spectrometer came out in 1953 from Varian, much of the hardware development has been improved and matured through commercial equipments. Many of magnetic resonance laboratories however still build and use home-built spectrometers, which are satisfactory even with the consideration of educational purpose only. The home-built NMR spectrometer could be further advantageous and could be often an only option for investigating new ideas with demanding experimental conditions or new hardware support. A solid state NMR spectrometer was designed with extra interest in stochastic experiment and built for an 8.93 T superconducting magnet from Oxford instrument. Super-heterodyned system was implemented for the transmitter and receiver parts. Intermediate frequency (IF) for the heterodyne system was chosen to 70 MHz for the first and the second channels, with additional 120 MHz for the third channel for maximum NMR frequency capability. We will show overall schematics, and discuss the designs with detailed diagrams, then demonstrate the applicability of home-built spectrometer with stochastic-excitation in solid state NMR and in applications to quadrupolar nuclear Spins.

  • A novel controller design is presented for the recently proposed electric springs (ESs). The dynamic modeling is analyzed first, and the initial Bode diagram is derived from the s-domain transfer function in the open loop. The design objective is set according to the characteristics of a minimum phase system. Step-by-step optimizations of the Bode diagram are provided to illustrate the proposed controller, the design of which is different from the classical multistage leading/lagging design. The final controller is the accumulation of the transfer function at each step. With the controller and the recently proposed δ control, the critical load voltage can be regulated to follow the desired waveform precisely while the fluctuations and distortions of the input voltage are passed to the non-critical loads. Frequency responses at any point can be modified in the Bode diagram. The results of the modeling and controller design are validated via simulations. Hardware and software designs are provided. A digital phase locked loop is realized with the platform of a digital signal processor. The effectiveness of the proposed control is also validated by experimental results.

  • Traditional criteria for optimum experimental designs depend on the specifications of the model; however, there will be a dilemma when we do not have perfect knowledge about the model. Box and Draper (1959) suggested one direction to minimize bias that may occur in this situation. We will demonstrate some examples with exact solutions that provide a no-bias design for polynomial regression. The most interesting finding is that a design that requires less bias should allocate design points away from the border of the design space.

  • This paper discusses nested design models when nesting occurs in treatment structure and design structure. Some are fixed and others are random; subsequently, the fixed factors having a nested design structure are assumed to be nested in the random factors. The treatment structure can involve random and fixed effects as well as a design structure that can involve several sizes of experimental units. This shows how to use projections for sums of squares by fitting the model in a stepwise procedure. Expectations of sums of squares are obtained via synthesis. Variance components of the nested design model are estimated by the method of moments.

  • Beauty Art is an act which makes a face beautiful using various methods such as permanent, manicure and make-up. Recently, Beauty Art is recognized as the personal culture expressing the value of beauty and spirit. Therefore, there are growing interests in the comprehensive study of Beauty Art nor only from the beauty industries but also from academia, because Beauty Art is the high value-added field and Is recognized as a style of the dress. The purpose of this study is to open a new view to understand the Nail Art as a fold of experimental plastic art. The arctic expression is added to Beauty Art to develop it from the routine technique of the make-up and hairstyling to creative art. Assemblage is adopted to provide Beauty Art with fine harmonious expression which develop Nail Art into interesting and unique art area. Assemblage meaning compounding or collection is a technique through which three-dimension is added to two-dimension paintings, and which is an expression of an art work by recollection of miscellaneous articles or waste materials. Assemblage is a term which Jean Dubuffet coioned first in order to differentiate collage used by Picaso or Braque. Here, I present Nail Art Designs which applied Jean Dubuffet's works focusing on Automaticity and Happenstantial phenomena of materials, Materialization, and Directness. These features are characteristics of Assemblage which basic frameworks are fantastic collection, accumulation, constructive collection, and object collection.

  • A steam jet vacuum system that will be implemented in a multi-effect desalination plant is numerically investigated. The objective of this study is to numerically investigate the performance characteristic of the steam jet vacuum system for the sea water distillation process. The effects of design parameter such as nozzle size and converging duct angle are discussed in order to get a better understanding of flow characteristics inside the steam ejector and subsequently pave the way for more optimum designs. The simulation results have been in good agreement with experimental data and have well reproduced the shock train phenomena of the throat region.
