  • 전력계통의 과도 안정도 해석의 접근방법에는 SI(Simultaneous Implicit)법과 PE(Partitioned Explicit)법 두 가지방법을 사용해오고 있다.

  • The airfoil design optimization procedures based on the Navier-Stokes equations were developed, This procedure enables more realistic and practical transonic airfoil designs. The modified Hicks-Henne functions were used to generate the shape of airfoils. Five Hick-Henne functions were used to design upper surface of airfoil only. To enhance the ability of Hick-Henne function to generate various airfoil shape with limited number of functions, the positions of control points were adjusted through optimization procedure. The design procedure was applied to the single-point design for the drag minimization problem with lift and area constraints. The result shows the capability of the procedure to generate much realistic airfoils with very small drag-creep in the low transonic regime. This is mainly due to the viscosity effect of Navier-Stokes flow analysis. However, in the higher transonic range tile drag-creep appears. The multi-point design is shown to be an effective way to avoid the drag-creep and improve off-design performance which is very similar in the Euler design.

  • A program is developed for generating the dynamic equations for the robotic manipulators using the symbolic language muSIMP/ MATH. The muSIMP/ MATH is a LISP-based computer. algebra package, devoted to the manipulation of algebraic expressions including numbers, variables, functions, and matrices. The muSIMP-MATH can operate on personal computer such as IBM-PC. The program is developed, based on the Lagrange-Euler formulation. This program is applicable to the manipulators with any number of degrees of freedom, and maximum number of degrees of freedom is set to be six in this program.

  • This paper presents a numerical method to analyze the electromechanical-coupled field in the spindle motor of a computer hard drive and investigates dynamic response due to the electromechanical excitation, i.e. unbalanced magnetic force and centrifugal force for the rotational asymmetric motor. Magnetic field is calculated from Maxwells equation and voltage equation by introducing nonlinear time-dependent finite element analysis. Mechanical motion of rotor is calculated by solving Newton-Euler equation. Electromechanical excitation and dynamic response are characterized by analyzing the free response of a rotating rotor and Fourier analysis of the excitation force and resulting vibration of a rotor. It shows that centrifugal force produces the unbalanced magnetic force even in the rotational symmetric motor. It also shows that resonance produces quite considerable vibration even when the high excitation frequency with small amplitude matches with the natural frequency of the spindle motor.

  • Steady-state and transient performance for the medium scale civil aircraft turbofan engine was analyzed. Steady-state performance was analyzed on maximum take-off condition, maximum climb condition, and cruise condition. At 90%RPM of the low pressure compressor, the partload performance was economized. The transient performance was analyzed with cases of the step increase, the ramp increase, the ramp decrease, and the step increase and ramp decrease for the input fuel flow. For the transient performance analysis, work matching between compressor and turbine was needed. Modified Euler method was used the integration of residual torque in work matching equation. At all flight condition, the overshoot of the high pressure turbine inlet temperature was appeared in the step and ramp increase case, and the surge of high pressure compressor was appeared in the step increase case and the ramp increase case within 5.5 seconds of maximum climb condition.

  • A study has been made on the fabrication of a dual mode(a longitudinal and shear mode) ultrasonic sensor using a single PZT piezoelectric ceramic element. We investigated the mechanism of the dual mode sensor that generated both of the longitudinal and the shear waves simultaneously with the single PZT element. Through the analysis of analytic wave propagation equations, all the possible crystal cuts have been examined to determine appropriate Euler transformation angles for efficient excitations of the dual modes. We studied the performance of a PZT element as a function of its rotation angle so that its efficiency is optimized to excite the two waves of equal strength. Experimental examination of the waveform on a delay line(STS303) setup confirms that the ultrasonic sensor can transmit and detect both longitudinal and shear waves simultaneously.

  • The ration of payload to weight of industrial robot amounts form 1:10 to 1:30. Compared with man who have a ration of 3:1, it is very low. One of the goals for the next generation of robots will be a ration. This might be possible only by developing lightweight robots. When two-link flexible arm is rotated about an joint axis, transverse vibration may occur. In this paper, vibration dynamics of flexible arm is modeled by using Bernoulli-Euler beam theory and Lagrange equation. Using the fact that matrix $\dot{D}-2C$ is skew symmetric, new controllers which have a simplified structure with less computational burden is proposed by using Lyapunov stability theory. We propose deterministic and adaptive control laws for two link flexible arm, and the validity of the proposed control scheme is shown in computer simulation for two-link flexible arm.

  • In this paper, the design and implementation results of the optical flow estimator (OFE) for moving object detection (MOD) in advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). In the proposed design, Brox's algorithm with global optimization is considered, which shows the high performance in the vehicle environment. In addition, Cholesky factorization is applied to solve Euler-Lagrange equation in Brox's algorithm. Also, shift register bank is incorporated to reduce memory access rate. The proposed optical flow estimator was designed with Verilog-HDL, and FPGA board was used for the real-time verification. Implementation results show that the proposed optical flow estimator includes the logic slices of 40.4K, 155 DSP48s, and block memory of 11,290Kbits.

  • The Formulation of a new Hermite straight beam element to eliminate the shear locking is presented. All the kinematic variables in Timoshenko beam are reinterpreted by the consideration of equilibrium equations together. It shows that when the modified transverse displacement field is used the Timoshenko beam looks apparently the same as the Euler beam. The element is formulated for the modified transverse displacement field to have the same interpolation scheme as that in the Hermite element. Transformation Matrix which relates a modified nodal vector with nonmodified one is also introduced to deal with general boundary conditions. Several examples are demonstrated and discussed for the purpose of verification of the concepts employed. The solutions obtained reveal that the element describes of the beam quite correctly, showing no locking and that it is also applicable to the analysis of both thin and thick beams.

  • The trajectories for high-energy electrons in water under magnetic fields were calculated approximately by numerical method. A differential equation for electrons under magnetic field was built and the calculation code was devised by Euler method. Using the code, the trajectories for electrons with energies of 3, 5, 10, and 15 MeV in water were calculated in the presence of magnetic fields parallel and perpendicular to the incident electrons. Since we considered only the energy loss and the directional change for primary electrons, there are errors in this calculation. However, based on the results we were able to explain the variation of dose distributions by the external magnetic fields in water.
