Performance Prediction of a Solar Power System with Stirling Engine (Matching Collector/Receiver with Engine/Generator Systems) (스털링엔진 태양열 발전시스템의 성능예측(집열기.수열기 및 엔진.발전기 시스템의 조화))

  • The simulation analyses of a solar power system with monolithic concentrator by using a stirling engine are carried out to predict the system performance in four test sites. The site has different intensities and distributions of direct solar radiation respectively. Seoul, Pusan and Cheju in Korea, and Naha in Japan are selected as test sites. To accomplish the same demand of a 25 kW output that the power level of a system has, it needs to take the matching of collector/receiver with engine/generator systems. In such a case, also, the size of the collector is sometimes adjusted. In this study, the diameter of the collector is decided by using the solar radiation of design point, which is defined as the sum of average and standard deviation $\sigma$ of maximum direct solar radiation distribution for a day during a year in the respective test site. It is found that the average power output during the system operating time in the case of slope error ${\sigma}_s=2.5$ is within the range of 9 to 13 kW.

A Study on Minimising the Errors on the Boundary Conditions when Using an Equivalent Source Technique for a Modelling of Sound Field inside an Enclosure (등가소스법을 이용한 공간 내의 음장 모델링에서 경계면 조건 오차의 최소화에 관한 연구)

  • The equivalent source method is used to calculate the internal pressure field for an enclosure which can have arbitrary boundary conditions and may include internal objects which scatter the sound. Some of the equivalent positions are chosen to be the same as the first order images of the source inside the enclosure, some are positioned on a spherical surface some distance outside the enclosure. The normal velocity on the surfaces of the enclosure walls is evaluated at a larger number of positions than there are equivalent sources. The sum of the squared difference between this velocity and the expected is minimized by adjusting the strength of the equivalent sources. The convergence of this method is checked by evaluating the velocity error at a larger number of monitoring positions. Example results are presented for various numbers of sources and evaluation points. The results showed that in general the more equivalent sources increased the accuracy of the sound field predictions but the accuracy is not too much sensitive to the numbers of evaluation points.

Suppression for Logistic Regression Model (로지스틱 회귀모형에서의 SUPPRESSION)

  • The suppression for logistic regression models has been debated no longer than that for linear regression models since, among many other reasons, sum of squares for regression (SSR) or coefficient of determination ($R^2$) could be defined into various ways. Based on four kinds of $R^2$'s: two kinds are most preferred, and the other two are proposed by Liao & McGee (2003), four kinds of SSR's are derived so that the suppression for logistic models is explained. Many data fitted to logistic models are generated by Monte Carlo method. We explore when suppression happens, and compare with that for linear regression models.

Simulation of non-steady state oxygen transfer caused by microbubble supply (비정상상태의 미세기포에 의한 산소 전달 특성 모사)

  • Microbubbles oxygen transfer to water was simulated based on experimental results obtained from the bubbles generation operated under varying liquid supply velocity to the multi-step orifices of the generator. It had been known that liquid supply velocity and bubble size are inversely related. In the oxygen transfer, a non-steady state was assumed and the pseudo stagnation caused the slow movement of bubbles from the bottom to the water surface. Two parameters were considered for the simulation: They represent a factor to correct the pseudo stagnation state and a scale which represented the amount of bubbles in supply versus time. The sum of absolute error determined by fitting regression to the experimental results was comparable to that of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) model, which is based on concentration differential as the driving force. Hence, considering the bubbles formation factors, the simulation process has the potential to be easily used for applications by introducing two parameters in the assumptions. Compared with the ASCE model, the simulation method reproduced the experimental results well by detailed conditions.

Advanced Relative Localization Algorithm Robust to Systematic Odometry Errors (주행거리계의 기구적 오차에 강인한 개선된 상대 위치추정 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, a novel localization algorithm robust to the unmodeled systematic odometry errors is proposed for low-cost non-holonomic mobile robots. It is well known that the most pose estimators using odometry measurements cannot avoid the performance degradation due to the dead-reckoning of systematic odometry errors. As a remedy for this problem, we tty to reflect the wheelbase error in the robot motion model as a parametric uncertainty. Applying the Krein space estimation theory for the discrete-time uncertain nonlinear motion model results in the extended robust Kalman filter. This idea comes from the fact that systematic odometry errors might be regarded as the parametric uncertainties satisfying the sum quadratic constrains (SQCs). The advantage of the proposed methodology is that it has the same recursive structure as the conventional extended Kalman filter, which makes our scheme suitable for real-time applications. Moreover, it guarantees the satisfactoty localization performance even in the presence of wheelbase uncertainty which is hard to model or estimate but often arises from real driving environments. The computer simulations will be given to demonstrate the robustness of the suggested localization algorithm.

The New Residual Current Protective Devices Operating by Resistive Leakage Current (저항성 누전전류에 의하여 동작하는 새로운 누전차단기)

  • The conventional Residual Current Protective Devices(RCD, or earth leakage circuit breaker, ELB) operates depending on the total leakage current which is the vector-sum of resistive and capacitive components of a leakage current. However, the electric disaster such as electric shock or fire is mainly caused by the resistive component. Therefore, in this view point, the RCD is more realistic when it operates by the resistive component of the leakage current. In this paper, a new algorithm for measuring the resistive leakage current from the total leakage current is suggested, and is realized to an actual circuit. According to the suggested algorithm, the resistive component of the leakage current can be found by integrating the total leakage current over only a half cycle of the line voltage, and it is realized by using analog switches and resettable integrators. It is confirmed through experiments that the suggested algorithm detects, within maximum average error of 6.74%, the resistive leakage current from the total leakage current, and the RCD employing the suggested algorithm brakes the circuit within the regular interrupt time(30msec).

A Clustering Algorithm using Self-Organizing Feature Maps (자기 조직화 신경망을 이용한 클러스터링 알고리듬)

  • This paper suggests a heuristic algorithm for the clustering problem. Clustering involves grouping similar objects into a cluster. Clustering is used in a wide variety of fields including data mining, marketing, and biology. Until now there are a lot of approaches using Self-Organizing Feature Maps(SOFMs). But they have problems with a small output-layer nodes and initial weight. For example, one of them is a one-dimension map of k output-layer nodes, if they want to make k clusters. This approach has problems to classify elaboratively. This paper suggests one-dimensional output-layer nodes in SOFMs. The number of output-layer nodes is more than those of clusters intended to find and the order of output-layer nodes is ascending in the sum of the output-layer node's weight. We can find input data in SOFMs output node and classify input data in output nodes using Euclidean distance. We use the well known IRIS data as an experimental data. Unsupervised clustering of IRIS data typically results in 15 - 17 clustering error. However, the proposed algorithm has only six clustering errors.

  • We report a simple area measurement device for 3 dimensional object using 3 degree of freedom sensor. The surface of 3D object can be divided into a number of triangles, and the surface area of 3D object could be measured by the sum of the divided triangle area. We applied 6DOF sensor to measure the coordinate of triangle vertex, and calculated each triangle area on the surface of 3D object. The many we divide the area to triangles, the correct we will get the result. This method shows 7.78% in error on the measurement of 3 dimensional object area.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel scalable video coding algorithm based on adaptively weighted multiple reference frame method. To improve the coding efficiency in the enhancement layer, the enhancement frame is predicted by the sum of adaptively weighted double motion compensated frames in the enhancement layer and the current frame in the base layer, according to the input video characteristics. By employing adaptive reference selection scheme at the decoder, the proposed method reduce the drift problem significantly. From the experimental results, the proposed algorithm shows more than 1.0 ㏈ PSNR improvement, compared with the conventional scalable H.263+ for various packet loss rate channel conditions.

A Study on the efficient AODV Routing Algorithm using Cross-Layer Design (크로스레이어 디자인을 이용한 효율적인 AODV 알고리즘에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, the efficient AODV routing algorithm in MANET is proposed. Because transmission channel has a high error rate and loss in MANET, the number of hops can't be regarded as an absolute network metric. After measuring FER periodically at the data link layer using cross-layer design, the scheme that every node forwards the weight of link status in the reserved field of AODV protocol is used. In order to find the efficient route, we design AODV to be able to select an optimal route that has a good channel status by evaluating the sum of weight. The proposed AODV improves throughput, routing overhead and average end-to-end delay in comparison with the generic AODV.
