  • In general DGPS system, the correction message is transferred to users by wireless modem. To cover wide area, many DGPS station should be needed. And DGPS users must have a wireless modem that is not necessary in standalone GPS. But SBAS users don't need a wireless modem to receive DGPS corrections because SBAS correction message is transmitted from the GEO satellite by L1 frequency band. SBAS signal is generated in the GUS(Geo Uplink Subsystem) and uplink to the GEO satellite. This uplink transmission process causes two problems that are not existed in GPS. The one is a time delay in the uplink signal. The other is an ionospheric problem on uplink signal, code delay and carrier phase advance. These two problems cause ranging error to user. Another critical ranging error factor is clock synchronization. SBAS reference clock must be synchronized with GPS clock for an accurate ranging service. The time delay can be removed by close loop control. We propose uplink ionospheric error correcting algorithm for C/A code and carrier. As a result, the ranging accuracy increased high. To synchronize SBAS reference clock with GPS clock, I reviewed synchronization algorithm. And I modified it because the algorithm didn't consider doppler that caused by satellites' dynamics. SBAS reference clock synchronized with GPS clock in high accuracy by modified algorithm. We think that this paper will contribute to basic research for constructing satellite based DGPS system.

  • The purpose of this study is to carry out the task of engine hesitation which occurred intermittently in driving due to the defective CKPS of LPI vehicles. As the result of the wrong data from the equipment of D-logger, the signal error of CKPS caused the engine hesitation. We performed a study in the followings to analyze and investigate the cause effectively. First, we have investigated the control wiring harness and connector pin contact defect inspection. Second, we have inspected the defection of CKPS separately. From this study, it was found that the engine hesitation were caused by the bad durability and we have showed how to diagnosis the fault of the engine hesitation intermittently while driving. Therefore, it is determined that we have to improve the durability of the CKPS through a strict quality control and to increase the reliability.

  • Combining channel coding and network coding in a physical layer in a fading channel, generalized joint channel-network coding (G-JCNC) is proved to highly perform in a two-way relay channel (TWRC). However, most relevant discussions are restricted to symmetric networks. This paper investigates the G-JCNC protocols in an asymmetric TWRC (A-TWRC). A newly designed encoder used by source nodes that is dedicated to correlate codewords with different orders is presented. Moreover, the capability of a simple common non-binary decoder at a relay node is verified. The effects of a power match under various numbers of iteration and code lengths are also analyzed. The simulation results give the optimum power match ratio and demonstrate that the designed scheme based on G-JCNC in an A-TWRC has excellent bit error rate performance under an appropriate power match ratio.

  • Indoor real-time positioning for multiple targets is required to realize human-robot symbiosis. This study firstly presents positioning accuracy on an autonomous mobile robot controlled by 3-D coordinates that is obtained by a real-time indoor positioning system with spread spectrum (SS) ultrasonic signals communicated by code-division multiple access. Although many positioning systems have been investigated, the positioning system with the SS ultrasonic signals can measure identified multiple 3-D positions in every 70 ms with noise tolerance and error within 100 mm. This system is also robust to occlusion and environmental changes. However, thus far, the positioning errors in an autonomous mobile robot, controlled by these systems using the SS ultrasonic signals, have not been evaluated as an experimental study. Therefore, a positioning experiment for trajectory control is conducted using an autonomous mobile robot and our positioning system. The effectiveness of this positioning method for robot self-localization is shown, from this experiment, because the average control error between the target position and the robot's position at 29 mm is obtained.

  • This paper is about Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) cell security in which an Output Feedback (OFB) mode is applied to an AES block ciphers. ATM cells are divided into user data cells and maintenance cells, and each cell is 53 octets in size and consists of a header of 5 octets and a payload of 48 octets. In order to encrypt/decrypt ATM cells, the boundaries of cells must be detected, which is possible using the Header Error Control (HEC) field in the header. After detecting the boundary of the cell, the type of payload is detected using a payload type (PT) code to encrypt only the user cell. In this paper, a security method for ATM cells that satisfies the requirements of ISO 9160 is presented.

  • This paper represents a Doherty amplifier (DPA) with analog predistorter (PD) to improve the linearity of the DPA while preserving the high efficiency. A third-order PD cancels fifth-order intermodulation (IM5) as well as third-order intermodulation (IM3) components by their same phase difference in the PD and DPA. This is accomplished by independently controlling their phase by using the phase-controlled error generator in the PD. Also, we confirm the phase-control ability of the error generator experimentally with a simple and accurate phase measurement setup. For experimental verification, a third-order PD has been implemented and tested in a 180-W DPA at the wide-band code division multiple access (WCDMA) band of 2.11-2.17 GHz. Two-tone test results show that significant cancellation of IM3 and IM5 components can be obtained. For four-carrier WCDMA applications, significant adjacent channel leakage ratio (ACLR) improvement is achieved over a wide range of output power levels. This technique is cost-effective and convenient due to its simple structure, compact size, and three control parameters.

  • The main characteristics of the underwater acoustic channel have varying multipath and fast fading. Especially, Frequency Shift Keying (FSK) signals with multiple frequency bands caused loss of information bits allocated on the specific frequencies due to selective fading phenomenon. Therefore, this paper proposes frequency gain control algorithm based on preamble error rates. The proposed algorithm estimates optimal gain value in the range of preamble error rate with less than 10 % for specific faded frequency. By employing turbo equalized FSK signals with rate of 1/3, the experiment was conducted on a lake in Munkyeong city with distance of 300 m to 500 m. The result confirms that packets are decoded successfully by applying proposed algorithm as increasing number of iterations.

  • The performance of common spreading code scheme employing multiple-capture receiver is compared to that of transmitter-oriented (T/O) code division multiple access (CDMA) scheme in view of the possibility of collision-free transmissions and the effect of secondary multiple-access interference. For performance comparisons, secondary multiple-access interference is characterized for the common code scheme and the T/O CDMA scheme that assures perfectly collision-free transmissions. Throughput performance is then evaluated for these two schemes with direct-sequence spread-spectrum/differential-phase-shift-keying (DS-SS/DPSK) data modulation and forward-error-control coding (BCH codes) in the presence of an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN). It is shown that when the number of radios is relatively large, the maximum normalized throughput is greater for the common code scheme than for the T/O CDMA scheme at a moderate signal-to-noise ration(SNR).

  • Piecewise linear (G01-based) tool paths generated by CAM systems lack $G_1$ and $G_2$ continuity. The discontinuity causes vibration and unnecessary hesitation during machining. To ensure efficient high-speed machining, a method to improve the continuity of the tool paths is required, such as B-spline fitting that approximates G01 paths with B-spline curves. Conventional B-spline fitting approaches cannot be directly used for tool path B-spline fitting, because they have shortages such as numerical instability, lack of chord error constraint, and lack of assurance of a usable result. Progressive and Iterative Approximation for Least Squares (LSPIA) is an efficient method for data fitting that solves the numerical instability problem. However, it does not consider chord errors and needs more work to ensure ironclad results for commercial applications. In this paper, we use LSPIA method incorporating Energy term (ELSPIA) to avoid the numerical instability, and lower chord errors by using stretching energy term. We implement several algorithm improvements, including (1) an improved technique for initial control point determination over Dominant Point Method, (2) an algorithm that updates foot point parameters as needed, (3) analysis of the degrees of freedom of control points to insert new control points only when needed, (4) chord error refinement using a similar ELSPIA method with the above enhancements. The proposed approach can generate a shape-preserving B-spline curve. Experiments with data analysis and machining tests are presented for verification of quality and efficiency. Comparisons with other known solutions are included to evaluate the worthiness of the proposed solution.

  • Turbo codes are selected as FEC(Forward error correction) codes with convolution code in 3GFP(3rd generation partnership project) and 3GPP2 standard of IMT2000. Especially, l/3 turbo code with K=4 is employed for 3GPP standard. In this paper, we proposed a hardware structure of a turbo decoder and denveloped the decoder for 3GPP standard turbo code. For its efficient operation, we design a SOVA decoder by employing a register exchange decoding block and new path metric normalization block as a SISO constituent decoder. In addition, we estimate its performance under MATLAB 6.0 and designed the turbo decoder including control block, input control buffer, SOVA constituent decoder with VHDL. Finally, we synthesized the developed turbo decoder under Synopsys FPGA Express and verified it with ALTERA EPF200SRC240-3 FPGA device.
