A fundamental limitation of steel structures is the decrease in their load-bearing capacity at high temperatures in fire situations such that structural members may require some additional treatment for fire resistance. In this regard, this paper evaluates the structural stability of fire-resistant steel, introduced in the late 1999s, through tensile coupon tests and proposes some experimental equations for the yield stress, the elastic modulus, and specific heat. The surface temperature, deflection, and maximum stress of fire-resistant steel H-section columns were calculated using their own mechanical and thermal properties. According to a comparison of mechanical properties between fire-resistant steel and Eurocode 3, the former outperformed the latter, and based on a comparison of structural performance between fire-resistant steel and ordinary structural steel of equivalent mechanical properties at room temperature, the former had greater structural stability than the latter through $900^{\circ}C$.

An ideal I of a local ring (R, m, k) is said to be m-full if there exists an element $x{\in}m$ such that Im : x = I. An ideal I of a local ring R is said to have the Rees property if ${\mu}$(I) > ${\mu}$(J) for any ideal J containing I. We study properties of m-full ideals and we characterize m-primary m-full ideals in terms of the minimal number of generators of the ideals. In particular, for a m-primary ideal I of a 2-dimensional regular local ring (R, m, k), we will show that the following conditions are equivalent. 1. I is m-full 2. I has the Rees property 3. ${\mu}$(I)=o(I)+1 In this paper, let (R, m, k) be a commutative Noetherian local ring with infinite residue field k = R/m.

LQ actuator selection problem for multi-input system discussed in this paper is to determine optimal actuator out of many actuators and input sequences so as to minimize the quadratic control performance. The solution of this problem depends on initial values and has a combinatorial property, so it is extremely difficult to get an optimal solution. For this difficulty, we proposed the concept of comparability of actuators and showed the uniqueness of the solution[1] . Further, to get general optimal solution for LQ problem with actuator selection strategies, we derived the equivalent condition for the comparability of actuator in single-input system . In this paper we extend this result to the case of multi-input system. The derived sufficient condition is applicable in the case of positive semi-definite comparability matrices.

In these days, The base isolation system is often used to improve the seismic capacity of the structures instead of conventional techniques of strengthening the structural members. The purpose of this study is to evaluate dynamic properties and mechanical characteristics of the 10tonf-LRB(Lead-Rubber Bearing). Experimental studies were performed to obtain the hysteretic behavior, effective shear stiffness( $K_{eff}$), equivalent damping( $H_{eq}$ ), capacity of energy dissipation( $W_{D}$) of six 10tonf-LRB. Especially, in this study, the response of the LRB for high loading frequency(0.5Hz~3.0Hz) was estimated. The effective shear stiffness of the LRB decreases and the capacity of energy dissipation increases as the shear strain amplitude increases. But the shear behavior of the LRB is not affected sensitively by loading frequency.y.y.

Let N be a right near-ring. N is said to be strongly reduced if, for $a\inN$, $a^2 \in N_{c}$ implies $a\;\in\;N_{c}$, or equivalently, for $a\inN$ and any positive integer n, $a^{n} \in N_{c}$ implies $a\;\in\;N_{c}$, where $N_{c}$ denotes the constant part of N. We will show that strong reducedness is equivalent to condition (ⅱ) of Reddy and Murty's property $(^{\ast})$ (cf. [Reddy & Murty: On strongly regular near-rings. Proc. Edinburgh Math. Soc. (2) 27 (1984), no. 1, 61-64]), and that condition (ⅰ) of Reddy and Murty's property $(^{\ast})$ follows from strong reducedness. Also, we will investigate some characterizations of strongly reduced near-rings and their properties. Using strong reducedness, we characterize left strongly regular near-rings and ($P_{0}$)-near-rings.

Three different species of cattails (Typha orientalis, Typha angustata, Typha latifolia) cultivated in South Korea were examined as raw materials for the production of pulp and paper. Soda pulping with anthraquinone was used for the stems and the leaves of cattail, separately. Addition of anthraquinone in soda pulping improved the yield greatly. Chemical components between three cattail species and within each species (leaves and stem) gave little differences. Average fiber length of the bleached cattail fibers was a little shorter than that of the HwBKP of Eucalyptus. Average fiber width of the cattail fibers was a half of that of the HwBKP. Compared to the HwBKP, cattail pulp gave higher breaking length, higher opacity, and better smoothness at equivalent freeness.

In this paper, we introduce closure operators [${\cdot}$]c and [${\cdot}$]a on a space and study some relations among [${\cdot}$]c, [${\cdot}$]a and countable tightness. We introduce the concepts of a strongly sequentially closed set and a strongly sequentially open set and show that a space X has countable tightness if and only if every strongly sequentially closed set is closed if and only if every strongly sequentially open set is open. Finally we find a generalization of the weak Fr$\'{e}$chet-Urysohn property which is equivalent to countable tightness.

Let M be a real hypersurface in the complex hyperbolic quadric Q^m*, m ≥ 3. The Riemannian curvature tensor field R of M allows us to define a symmetric Jacobi operator with respect to the Reeb vector field ξ, which is called the structure Jacobi operator R_ξ = R( · , ξ)ξ ∈ End(TM). On the other hand, in [20], Semmelmann showed that the cyclic parallelism is equivalent to the Killing property regarding any symmetric tensor. Motivated by his result above, in this paper we consider the cyclic parallelism of the structure Jacobi operator R_ξ for a real hypersurface M in the complex hyperbolic quadric Q^m*. Furthermore, we give a complete classification of Hopf real hypersurfaces in Q^m* with such a property.

In general, it is not easy to find the linearizing coordinate transformation map for a class of systems which are state equivalent to linear systems, because it is required to solve a set of partial differential equations. It is possible to construct an arbitrary nonlinear function with a backpropagation(BP) net. Utilizing this property of BP neural net, we construct a desired linearizing coordinate transformation map. That is, we implement a unknown coordinate transformation map through the training of neural weights. We have shown an example which supports this idea.

This paper provides examples which can not be approximate fibrations and shows that if $N^n$ is a closed aspherical manifold, $\pi_1(N)$ is hyperhophian, normally cohophian, and $\pi_1(N)$ has no nontrivial Abelian normal subgroup, then the product of $N^n$ and a sphre $S^m$ satisfies the property that all PL maps from an orientable manifold M to a polyhedron B for which each point preimage is homotopy equivalent to $N^n \times S^m$ necessarily are approximate fibrations.
