The Comparison of Pattern Method Function between Apparel CAD Systems - Focusing on Skirt Waistband and Sleeve Armhole line Generation Process - (어패럴 패턴캐드 간 패턴 제도 기능 비교 - 스커트 곡선 허리밴드와 소매 진동곡선 생성 과정을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to help user understand the basic principles and interfaces of each program, and to provide a base material for the development of more efficient apparel CAD systems to compensate for each program's shortcomings by comparing the function of three apparel CAD systems: Yuka CAD, Opti-tex, and Style CAD. For this purpose, the skirt waistband and sleeve armhole line creation process were selected based on these two criteria. 1) There is a big difference between principle and method between CAD systems. 2) When CAD system is used rather than paper drawing process, the process is shortened and convenience is high. In this study, pros and cons and supplement point of each CAD system are suggested by comparing the functions of the CAD system performing the selected drafting process by four criteria: icon, key, method, and characteristic point. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that the three CAD systems differ in the basic principle and interface environment. As a result of analyzing the skirt waistband method function, it was confirmed that the band line is formed directly on the outline of the skirt and the band dart recognition function is the most efficient function and as a result of the analyzing the sleeve armhole line method function, it was confirmed that the curve generation function using the shape of the actual curve measure and the length adjustment function through the automation of the dimension calculation is the most efficient function.

  • The objective of this study is to develop the CAD system for 2 cell box culvert by ultimate strength design method. C-language & AutoCAD Rl2 were used to create user-friendly computing environment. Consequently, users can easily design 2 cell box culvert under the various conditions, such as design load, total fill depth, underground water level, strength of concrete, and so forth. This system is believed to improve the efficiency and economy by the batch processing of structural analysis, quick drafting and computation of material quantity in the 2 cell box culvert design.

  • Today, manufacturing market is highly competitive due to more complex and variable products, shorter delivery lead times, intensified product development rate, customers's increasing concern about quality, durability, maintainability, safety and environmental performance. To survive this environment, development of the automated design system is needed using AutoCAD. This paper represents a computer aided design system for watergate by using AutoCAD R2000 system and its Visual LISP computer language. The developed system ultimately generates the design for water gate through AutoCAD.

  • A CAD system of grid element for vacuum fluorescent disply has been developed. In order to reduce design man-houre and human erros, it is used to automate the design process using a knowledge base system. In the case of VFD product design, the most important consideration is the short-life cycle. So the development of CAD system for VFD product is needed. The developed system is based on the knowledge base system which is involved in a lot of expert's technology in the practice field. Using C-language under the HP-UNIX system, CIS customer language of the EXCESS CAD/CAM is used as the overall CAD environment. Results of this system will provide effective aids to the designer in this field

  • The growth of the World Wide Web and the advances in high-speed network access have greatly changed existing CAD/CAE environment. The WWW has enabled us to share various distributed product data and to collaborate in the design process. An international standard for the product model data, STEP, and a standard for the distributed object technology, CORBA, are very important technological components for the interoperability in the advanced design and manufacturing environment. These two technologies provide background for the sharing of product data and the integration of applications on the network. This paper describes a distributed CAD/CAE environment that is integrated on the network by CORBA and product model data standard STEP. Several prototype application modules were implemented to verify the proposed concept and the test result is discussed. Finite element analysis server are further distributed into several frontal servers for the implementation of distributed parallel solution of finite element system equations. Distributed computation of analysis server is also implemented by using CORBA for the generalization of the proposed method.

  • This paper describes the development of a web-based interference verification system in the mold design process. Although several commercial CAD systems furnish interference verification functions, those systems are very expensive and inadequate to perform collaborative works over the Internet. In this paper, an efficient and precision hybrid interference verification algorithm for the web-based interference verification system over the distributed environment has been studied. The proposed system uses lightweight CAD files produced from the optimally transformed CAD data through ACIS kernel and InterOp. Collaborators related to the development of a new product are able to verify the interference verification over the Internet without commercial CAD systems. The system reduces production cost, errors and lead-time to the market. Validity of the developed system is confirmed through case studies.

  • Most of previous research on machining process planning has not fully included consideration on fixturing. With fixture components properly assembled with the part workpiece in a CAD modeling environment, necessary geometric information of fixture elements and their interrelations with the part model can be obtained so that machining process plans could incorporate fixturing considerations. This paper introduces an interactive fixturing system called I-Fix. I-Fix is a dowel-pin based modular fixture system, and it has been developed using Solid Edge CAD system and Visual Basic. Through customized operations of the assembly commands of the CAD system, I-Fix significantly simplifies user operations and thus reduces fixturing time. Furthermore, I-Fix enhances user convenience by providing general guidance about the fixture components and fixturing methods.

  • In order to minimize turnaround of machining in FMS lines, CAD/CAM/CAT integrated system called MascCAM was developed. Developing enhanced CAM and inspection modules in the MascCAM environment, 2D came, 2 $^{1}$2/ D prismatic parts and 3D free-formed surfaces were able to be automatically designed, manufactured and inspected on the machine tools by using AutoCAM and Z-map. Introducing Z-map technique, the MascCAM was able to be interfaceed with and CAD system. Developed QPPGT module generates a quick and fool-proof inspection work to users. A vertical and a horizontal machining center equipped with FANUC OMC were used for experiments. Performance of the system was confirmed by a large amount of experiments.

  • In this paper, we have been concerned with development of plastic mold design system by using Auto CAD. We provides a interface and interaction for mold designer who can select optimal mold base and mold parts within Auto CAD environment. We use the paramatric design method and an essential elements group forms. This program made for using Visual Lisp, DCL and Visual Basic that could easily get a database which is built to mold base and parts within Auto CAD. We provide 6 types mold base and 35 parts database for designer. In addition, it will be lined to mold cost and not only 2-D but also 3-D models

  • A CAD-based seamless design system for MEMS named DS/MEMS was developed which performs coupled-field analysis, optimal and robust design. DS/MEMS has been developed by means of integrating commercial codes and inhouse code-SolidWorks, FEMAP, ANSYS and CA/MEMS. This strategy results in versatility that means to include various analysis model, corresponding analyses and approximated design sensitivity analysis and user friendliness that design variables are taken to be selectable directly from a CAD model, that the problem is formulated under a window environment and that the manual job during optimization process is almost eliminated. DS/MEMS works on a parametric CAD platform, integrating CAD modeling, analysis, and optimization. Nonlinear programming algorithms, the Taguchi method, and response surface method are made available for optimization. One application problem is taken to illustrate the proposed methodology and show the feasibility of DS/MEMS as a practical tool.
