  • Purpose: The AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) program, created in 2001 in the United States due to 9.11 terrorist's attack, fundamentally changed the trade environment. Korea, which introduced AEO program in 2009, has become one of the world's top countries in the program by ranking 6th in the number of AEO certified companies and the world's No. 1 in MRA (Mutual Recognition Agreement) conclusions. In this paper, we examined what trade-economic and non-economic effects the AEO program and its MRA have in Korea. Research design, data and methodology: In this study we developed a model to verify the impact between utilization of AEO and trade-economic effects of the AEO and its MRA. After analyzing the validity and reliability of the model through Structural Equation Model we conducted a survey to request AEO companies to respond their experience on the effects of AEO program and MRA. As a result, 196 responses were received from 176 AEO companies and utilized in the analysis. Results: With regard to economic effects, the AEO program and the MRA have not been directly linked to financial performance, such as increased sales, increased export and import volumes, reduced management costs, and increased operating profit margins. However, it was analyzed that the positive effects of supply chain management were evident, such as strengthening self-security, monitoring and evaluating risks regularly, strengthening cooperation with trading companies, enhancing cargo tracking capabilities, and reducing the time required for export and import. Conclusions: When it comes to the trade-economic effects of AEO program and its MRA, AEO companies did not satisfy with direct effects, such as increased sales and volume of imports and exports, reduced logistics costs. However, non-economic effects, such as reduced time in customs clearance, freight tracking capability, enhanced security in supply chain are still appears to be big for them. In a rapidly changing trade environment the AEO and MRA are still useful. Therefore the government needs to encourage non-AEO companies to join the AEO program, expand MRA conclusion with AEO adopted countries especially developing ones and help AEO companies make good use of AEO and MRA.

  • Smart Factory is an intelligent factory that can enhance productivity, quality, customer satisfaction, etc. by applying information and communications technology to the entire production process including design & development, manufacture, and distribution & logistics. The precise amount of data generated in a smart factory varies depending on the factory's size and state of facilities. Regardless, it would be difficult to apply traditional production management systems to a smart factory environment, as it generates vast amounts of data. For this reason, the need for a distributed big-data processing system has risen, which can process a large amount of data. Therefore, this article has designed a Gluster File System (GlusterFS)-based distributed big-data processing system that can be used in a smart factory environment. Compared to existing distributed processing systems, the proposed distributed big-data processing system reduces the system load and the risk of data loss through the distribution and management of network traffic.

  • International trade has been changed from traditional trade to e-trade due to the fast expanding of information technology like e-marketplace, EDI (Electronic data interchange) using Internet since mid of 1990's. e-Trade, as a new trade method, could handle every trade procedure such as market research, contract, customs clearance, logistics and payment using IT like internet without restriction of time and space. The evolution of transaction-based business model is upon us. The business models of many e-Marketplace in their early stages have typically been based on transaction fees. Many e-Marketplaces have even called out transaction revenues as a core element of their business plans. The transaction business represents the most simple of business models, but it does not provide a long-term sustain able advantage. For buyer's convenience, wide selection and test price hold appeal. For suppliers, the extended global market reach and direct access to customers and consortiums of customers is powerful. To maximize leverage of these new e-marketplace, you must from both a buyer perspective as well as a supplier perspective. Also required is a strategy that takes in account all of the various e-Marketplace transaction standards and one that allows the easy accomodation to new e-marketplace as the market change. These new e-marketplace will need to be factored into the sales channel strategies. To be successful, integration with these e-marketplaces should occur at a complete business process level. This study would suggest on the role of buyers and sellers for e-trade which could maximize effect of e-trade in order to cope with rapid changing IT environment and global trade environment. Therefore, this study suggests top priority tasks for implementing on the specialization strategy of e-trade process.

  • Through the automatic sensing of the environment, USN technology can give the best services. In this work, we have developed an active RFID system and examined its performance. By implementing it into water quality sensors, we constructed a system that can detect diverse indoor/outdoor environment and provide information about the pollution level obtained from the temperature and PH sensors. Our RF system had an internal Print-on-PCB antenna for the miniaturization of the tag. We used a RF transceiver CC2510 chipset of TI company to realize the active RFID function. By using RSSI constants obtained, we performed the evaluation of real time location accuracy with a software written in Labview. Among 10 arbitrary locations, we obtained average measurement errors of 1.69 m in x axis and 1.66 m in y axis. This technology can be applied to logistics, environmental monitoring, prevention of missing children and various applications.

  • Blockchain technology has the potential to revolutionize trust models and business processes in a variety of industries. However, it is considered to be the initial stage of the system that pursues autonomy rather than efficiency, and it is necessary to monitor and inspect the distributed ledger technology from the price and introduction time as compared with the existing relational DB transaction technology. However, domestic and foreign private sectors have already been activated by applying block-chain technology in the national domain, and the block chain is devoid of doubt that it is an exaggerated technology, characterized by the invariance of the record, transparency, and autonomous execution of business rules. It has begun to be utilized in history, identity, certification and auditing in the financial industry as well as various industries. In this paper, we analyze the problems such as security weakness, insufficient regulatory environment, technical consensus and lack of common standard. In addition, the business sense and possibility of the block chain technology is expected to be the innovation of the industrial ecosystem by entering into the reality system from the concept through monitoring the actual introduction performance in the field of copyright, logistics, health care and environment.

  • As an wireless identification technology, RFID is now extending its application area including logistics, medicine, and healthcare. Adoption of RFID demands high cost such as h/w, s/w, and so on. To adopt RFID, we need to evaluate validity of application area and feasibility of RFID S/W such as EPC Information Service (EPCIS), which demands a variety of RFID test datasets. In this paper, I propose a novel method for generating RFID business events dataset by means of the simulation of RFID application environment. Proposed method can generate near-real RFID event dataset by means of representing various RFID application environment into abstract network model based on petri-net. In addition, it can also be useful when determining adoption of RFID as well as when evaluating RFID system.

  • The usefulness of media representations for assessing normative standards depends in part on how accurately media reflect "on-the-ground" resource conditions. This study compared encounter standards based on still and moving pictures to assess movement effects. The study location was the Jungmoeri area of Mudeungsan Provincial Park (MPP) in Korea. A total of 50 college students participated in a laboratory experiment where they evaluated still and moving pictures constructed using Photoshop and Flash computer programs. For the maximum acceptable number (MAN), however, there was no significant difference of ratings between still and moving pictures, and the overall encounter norm curves were nearly identical. There were some "method findings" for ordering effects and percent of people moving, but for a resource manager developing standards there was no advantage to the more complex logistics of using moving pictures to assess this particular impact. The trade-offs of using more sophisticated media are discussed, and more research is needed to further explore factors such as movement of sound in evaluation of other resource conditions.
