  • In this article, vibration attributes of single walled carbon nanotubes based on Galerkin's method have been investigated. The influence of power law index subjected to different end supports has been overtly examined. Application of the Hamilton's variational principal leads to the formation of partial differential equations. The effects of different physical and material parameters on the fundamental frequencies are investigated for armchair and zigzag carbon nanotubes with clamped-clamped, simply supported and clamped-free boundary conditions. By using volume fraction for power law index, the fundamental natural frequency spectra for two forms of Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes (SWCNTs) are calculated. The influence of frequencies against length-to-diameter ratios with varying power law index are investigated in detail for these tubes. MATLAB software package has been utilized for extracting tube frequency spectra. The obtained results are confirmed by comparing with available literature.

  • This study aims to elucidate the relationship between physics and mathematics to predict achievement for the college level of engineering courses. For the last 4 years, more than 3,000 engineering college freshmen of this study took the diagnostic tests on three subjects, which were physics, mathematics, and chemistry before enrollment. We studied how strongly these diagnostic scores can predict each general college course grades. The correlation between the physics diagnostic scores and the course grades in physics was .264, which was significantly lower than the correlation between the mathematics scores and the physics grades, .311. This stronger prediction of the mathematical diagnostic scores for the general course grades was not found when predicting the grades in chemistry. We therefore conclude that mathematical preparation can unexpectedly predict future achievement in physics better than physics preparation due to the academic interrelationships between mathematics and physics.

  • The present manuscript focuses the effects of suction on the flow of the dusty fluid along permeable exponentially stretching cylinder. Derived PDEs for this work are changed into ODEs by adopting right transformations. Numerical procedure is carried out for the obtained resultant equations by Shooting Technique in accordance with Runge-Kutta (RK-6) technique. Obtained results for the parameters namely, particle interaction parameter, suction parameter and Reynold number parameters are probed thoroughly. Some salient points are: (a) Fluid velocity decreases and the dust phase velocity rises for the higher values of particle interaction parameter; (b) more suction produces retarding velocities for both the phases; (c) high Reynold number slows down the fluid velocity while the speed of dust phase and (d) skin friction coefficient goes high for all these parameters.

  • The design of mechanical structures aims to meet criteria, together with the safety of operators and lives in the vicinity of the equipment. Thus, there are several cases that meeting the desired specification causes the mechanical device to perform unstable and, sometimes, chaotic behavior. In these cases, control methods are applied in order to stabilize the device when in operation, aiming at the physical integrity of the component and the device operators. In this work, we will develop a study about the influence of a controller applied in a non-ideal capsule system operating with uncertain parameters, being non-existent in the literature. For this, two initial conditions were used: one that the capsule starts from rest and another that it is already in motion. Thus, the effectiveness of the controller can be assessed in both initial conditions, restricting the movement of the internal vibration-impact system to the capsule.

  • This paper is an attempt to stress the usefulness of the multivariable special functions. In this paper, we derive generating relations involving 3-variable 2-parameter Tricomi functions by using Lie-algebraic techniques. Further we derive certain new and known generating relations involving other forms of Tricomi and Bessel functions as applications.

  • We introduce the concepts of ordered quasi-ideals, ordered bi-ideals in an ordered ternary semigroup and study their properties. Also regular ordered ternary semigroup is defined and several ideal-theoretical characterizations of the regular ordered ternary semigroups are furnished.

  • We establish some new criteria for the oscillation of mth order nonlinear difference equations. We study the case of strongly superlinear and the case of strongly sublinear equations subject to various conditions. We also present a sufficient condition for every solution to be asymptotic at ${\infty}$ to a factorial expression $(t)^{(m-1)}$.
