  • This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of multi-enzyme on growth performance, intestinal morphology, and nutrient digestibility of weaned pigs. A total 36 weaned pigs ($5.92{\pm}0.48kg\;BW$; 28 d old) were randomly allotted to 2 dietary treatments (3 pigs/pen, 6 replicates/treatment) in a randomized complete block design. The dietary treatments were a typical diet based on corn and soybean meal (CON) and CON with 0.1% multi-enzyme (Multi; mixture of ${\beta}-mannanase$, xylanase, ${\alpha}-amylase$, protease, ${\beta}-glucanase$, and pectinase). Pigs were fed their respective diets for 6 wk. Measurements were growth performance, morphology of ileum, apparent ileal digestibility and apparent total tract digestibility of dry matter, crude protein, and energy of weaned pigs. There were no significant differences on growth performance during overall experimental period. No differences were found for the morphology of ileum and nutrient digestibility between CON and Multi groups. Therefore, the results in the current study indicated that multi-enzyme supplementation in diets had no effects on growth performance, intestinal morphology, and nutrient digestibility of weaned pigs.

  • In this study, nano-emulsion containing ethyl acetate fraction of Polygonum aviculare (P. aviculare) extract was prepared and skin permeability of the nano-emulsion was evaluated. Nano-emulsion was prepared using homogenizer and microfluidizer by the high-energy method. The droplet size and loading efficiency of nano-emulsion containing ethyl acetate fraction of P. aviculare extract were determined. The mean droplet size was 238 nm and the loading efficiency was more than 98%. The size distribution of nano-emulsion was a monodispersed form and nano-emulsion was more stable than that of using typical emulsion without using the microfluidizer. The in vitro skin permeation study of nano-emulsion containing ethyl acetate fraction of P. aviculare extract was carried out using Franz diffusion cells. Compared to 1,3-butylene glycol, nano-emulsion showed greater values of cumulative permeation of ethyl acetate fraction from P. aviculare extract. These results indicate that the stability and skin permeability of nano-emulsion containing ethyl acetate fraction of P. aviculare exerting anti-oxidative and anti-aging activities were enhanced.

  • In this study, chitosan/zeolite composites were prepared by using basalt-based zeolite impregnated with aqueous chitosan solution for the adsorptive separation of CO2. The prepared composites were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and nitrogen adsorption analysis. In addition, the adsorption equilibrium isotherms for CO2 and N2 were measured at 298 K using a volumetric adsorption system, and the results were analyzed by applying adsorption isotherm equations (Langmuir, Freundlich, and Sips) and energy distribution function. It was found that CO2 adsorption capacities were well correlated with the structural characteristics of chitosan and zeolite, and the ratio of elements [N/C, Al/(Si + Al)] formed on the surface of the composite. Moreover, the CO2/N2 adsorption selectivity was calculated under the mixture conditions of 15 V : 85 V, 50 V : 50 V, and 85 V : 15 V using the Langmuir equation and the ideal adsorption solution theory (IAST).

  • The elution behavior of polystyrenes(PS), polymethylmethacrylates (PMMA), polybutadienes(PB), PS-PMMA(SM) block copolymers and PS-PB star shaped copolymers on the cross-linked polystyrene gels was studied. An interpretation was proposed for the plots of log hydrodynamic volume versus retention volume of solutes in the mobile phases such as tetrahydrofuran, toluene, chloroform, methylene chloride and tetrahydrofuran-cyclohexane mixture. In order to predict the retention of solutes from their physical properties, multiple stepwise regression analysis was applied to obtain the correlation. The distribution coefficients($K_p$) of solute-gel interactions in GPC for homopolymers and PS copolymers were also obtained in terms of network-limited separation mechanism. In the cases of PS and PB, $K_p$ values approach unity, while $K_p$ values for PMMA decrease as MW increase in the good solvent, but in poor solvent, $K_p$ values increase as MW increase. $K_p$ values of PS copolymers are dependent on their MW and composition, therefore, morohology of SM block copolymer is predicted to be random phase. • Many studies have been conducted to reduce environmental pollution by ships and reduce fuel consumption. As part of this effort, research on power conversion systems through DC distribution systems that link renewable energy with conventional power grids has been pursued as well. The diode rectifiers currently used include many lower harmonics in the input current of the load and distort supply voltage to lower the power quality of the whole system. This distortion of voltage waveforms causes the malfunctions of generators, load devices and inverter pole switching elements, resulting in a large number of switching losses. In this paper, a controller is presented to improve DC output waveforms, the input Power Factor and the THD of an AFE type PWM rectifier used for PLL. DC output voltage waveforms have been improved, and the input Power Factor can now be matched to the unit power factor. In addition, the THD of the input power supply has been proven by simulation to comply with the requirements of IEEE Std514-2014.

  • Companies build the factory automation system to improve management effectiveness and productivity as prime strategies for sustainable growth. But most companies undergo various trials and errors while carrying out the project without elaborate preparation stage for factory automation. In this study, we tried to verify what factors are critical to effectively building distribution automation system, which is a branch of factory automation system. A consulting model for setting up a Material Handling Automation System by utilizing the Stage-Gate Process, which is product development process was studied. 29 material handling automation projects carried out between the year 1990 to 2013 at K-Company were selected. Interviews with the project managers, operators and maintenance personnels, various records and current status of the projects were used as data for structural equations based on the Milan consulting model and existing researches of factory automation, CIM for material handling automation. Creating effective basis of production, material handling system and energy saving system with expert review, when preparing a material handling automation project, help promote the project planning thus contributing to the performance of the resulting system, which appears though rather weakly in our data. Also the effect of material handling automation can be enhanced through sufficient and effective links to the relevant environments such as production logistics management and automated warehouses. More detailed planning characteristics of project promotion or some time-series data of effective Material Handling Automation System could enhace furthur studies. We propose a consulting model for setting up an efficient material handling automation system.

  • In this paper, we investigate the thermal response of skin tissue to high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) by means of infrared (IR) thermal imaging. For skin tightening, a 7-MHz ultrasound transducer is used to induce irreversible tissue coagulation in porcine skin. An IR camera is employed to monitor spatiotemporal changes of the temperature in the tissue. The maximum temperature in the tissue increased linearly with applied energy, up to $90^{\circ}C$. The extent of irreversible tissue coagulation (up to 3.2 mm in width) corresponds well to the spatial distribution of the temperature during HIFU sonication. Histological analysis confirms that the temperature beyond the coagulation threshold (${\sim}65^{\circ}C$) delineates the margin of collagen denaturation in the tissue. IR thermal imaging can be a feasible method for quantifying the degree of thermal coagulation in HIFU-induced skin treatment.

  • Precipitation is one of the main factors that affect water and energy cycles, and its estimation plays a very important role in securing water resources and timely responding to water disasters. Satellite-based quantitative precipitation estimation (QPE) has the advantage of covering large areas at high spatiotemporal resolution. In this study, machine learning-based rainfall intensity models were developed using Himawari-8 Advanced Himawari Imager (AHI) water vapor channel (6.7 ㎛), infrared channel (10.8 ㎛), and weather radar Column Max (CMAX) composite data based on random forest (RF). The target variables were weather radar reflectivity (dBZ) and rainfall intensity (mm/hr) converted by the Z-R relationship. The results showed that the model which learned CMAX reflectivity produced the Critical Success Index (CSI) of 0.34 and the Mean-Absolute-Error (MAE) of 4.82 mm/hr. When compared to the GeoKompsat-2 and Precipitation Estimation from Remotely Sensed Information Using Artificial Neural Networks (PERSIANN)-Cloud Classification System (CCS) rainfall intensity products, the accuracies improved by 21.73% and 10.81% for CSI, and 31.33% and 23.49% for MAE, respectively. The spatial distribution of the estimated rainfall intensity was much more similar to the radar data than the existing products.

  • Liquid lead-bismuth cooled fast reactor is one of the most promising reactor types among the fourth-generation nuclear energy systems. The flow and heat transfer characteristics of lead-bismuth eutectic (LBE) are completely different from ordinary fluids due to its special thermal properties, causing that the traditional Reynolds analogy is no longer recommended and appropriate. More accurate turbulence flow and heat transfer model for the liquid metal lead-bismuth should be developed and applied in CFD simulation. In this paper, a specific CFD solver for simulating the flow and heat transfer of liquid lead-bismuth based on the k - 𝜀 - k𝜃 - 𝜀𝜃 model was developed based on the open source platform OpenFOAM. Then the advantage of proposed model was demonstrated and validated against a set of experimental data. Finally, the simulation of LBE turbulent flow and heat transfer in a 7-pin wire-wrapped rod bundle with the k - 𝜀 - k𝜃 - 𝜀𝜃 model was carried out. The influence of wire on the flow and heat transfer characteristics and the three-dimensional distribution of key thermal hydraulic parameters such as temperature, cross-flow velocity and Nusselt number were studied and presented. Compared with the traditional SED model with a constant Prt = 1.5 or 2.0, the k - 𝜀 - k𝜃 - 𝜀𝜃 model is more accurate on predicting the turbulence flow and heat transfer of liquid lead-bismuth. The average relative error of the k - 𝜀 - k𝜃 - 𝜀𝜃 model is reduced by 11.1% at most under the simulation conditions in this paper. This work is meaningful for the thermal hydraulic analysis and structure design of fuel assembly in the liquid lead-bismuth cooled fast reactor.

  • It is necessary to manage the prediction accuracy of the machine learning model to prevent the decrease in the performance of the grid network condition prediction model due to overfitting of the initial training data and to continuously utilize the prediction model in the field by maintaining the prediction accuracy. In this paper, we propose an automation technique for maintaining the performance of the model, which increases the accuracy and reliability of the prediction model by considering the characteristics of the power grid state data that constantly changes due to various factors, and enables quality maintenance at a level applicable to the field. The proposed technique modeled a series of tasks for maintaining the performance of the power grid condition prediction model through the application of the workflow management technology in the form of a workflow, and then automated it to make the work more efficient. In addition, the reliability of the performance result is secured by evaluating the performance of the prediction model taking into account both the degree of change in the statistical characteristics of the data and the level of generalization of the prediction, which has not been attempted in the existing technology. Through this, the accuracy of the prediction model is maintained at a certain level, and further new development of predictive models with excellent performance is possible. As a result, the proposed technique not only solves the problem of performance degradation of the predictive model, but also improves the field utilization of the condition prediction model in a complex power grid system.
