The Effects of Scientific Inquiry Class Using Data Measured with Digital Inquiry Tools on Elementary School Students' Competencies (디지털 탐구도구로 측정한 데이터를 활용하는 과학 탐구 수업이 초등학생의 역량에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of elementary school students' knowledge and information processing competence and collaborative problem-solving ability in scientific inquiry class using data measured with digital inquiry tools. To this end, three classes of 5th grade elementary schools in S-city, Gyeongnam were selected as experimental groups and three classes as control groups. The control group conducted traditional lecture-style classes, and the experimental group conducted scientific inquiry classes using scientific data. The following results were obtained through questionnaires after class. First, science inquiry classes using scientific data helped elementary school students improve their knowledge and information processing competence. Second, scientific inquiry classes using scientific data improved elementary school students' cooperative problem-solving ability. From the above results, it was found that scientific inquiry classes using scientific data are needed to improve the knowledge information processing competence and cooperative problem solving ability of elementary school students. Based on this research, it is necessary to study a specific teaching and learning environment that can activate scientific inquiry class using data measured with digital inquiry tools in the future.

Analysis on Actual Condition of Chemistry Teachers' Scientific Competency Assessment Based on Inquiry Report (탐구보고서에 기반한 화학교사의 과학 역량 평가 실태 분석)

  • This study investigated the condition of chemistry teacher's student competency assessment based on the inquiry report. To this end, an inquiry report was collected for chemistry teachers who took the training at two universities that conducted the 2020 first-class chemistry teacher training. The science subject competencies presented in NAEA analysis framework was used to analyze what kind of competencies teachers assess students through inquiry reports. A total of 63 chemistry teachers submitted inquiry reports, which were analyzed by competency, sub-element of each competency, and detail element to analyze the actual situation. As a result of the study, most chemistry teachers reflected their 'scientific inquiry and problem-solving ability' in their evaluation through inquiry reports. 'Ability to understand and apply scientific principles', which is mainly evaluated through paper-based evaluation, was partially used as confirmation of prerequisite learning at the beginning of the inquiry and the weight of evaluating 'scientific communication skill' was not large. In 'scientific inquiry and problem-solving ability' through inquiry report, 'design and conduct explorations', 'data analysis and interpretation' and 'drawing conclusion and suggesting solution' were mainly assessed. However, 'discover and recognize problems' and 'development and use of model' were hardly assessed.

A Study on Youtube Video-Watching Activities and their Effects on Improving English Reading Comprehension Skills (유튜브 비디오 보기 활동이 영어 독해 능력 향상에 미치는 영향)

  • In an effort to explore the effects of Youtube video-watching activities on Korean college students' English reading comprehension skills, 148 undergraduate students who enrolled in a General English class at a university in Korea participated in the present study. Participants were randomly classified into four groups - three experimental groups and one control group - according to when they watch videos: before class (n = 33), during class (n = 42), after class (n = 36), and none (n = 37). Over 16 weeks, the three experimental groups engaged in Youtube video-watching activities for about 10 minutes before, during, and after the class, while the control group did not. Pre- and post-tests were administered to confirm the effects of the use of Youtube videos on improving English reading comprehension skills. To compare the improvement between groups, a one-way ANOVA was also run. Major findings are as follows: First, participants in all the three experimental groups significantly improved their English reading comprehension skills, indicating the beneficial effects of Youtube video-watching activities. However, there was no statistically significant difference in the mean improvement between the groups. Based on this, limitations and suggestions for the future research are discussed at the end.

Teaching Methods of Inclusive Music Classes at Elementary Schools Based on Application of Understanding by Design and Differentiated Instruction (이해중심 교육과정과 맞춤형 수업의 적용을 통한 초등학교 통합학급의 음악과 수업 방안 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the teaching methods used in inclusive music classes at elementary schools by of music in elementary school inclusive classes through the application of understanding by design and differentiated instruction, and to explore the feasibility of inclusive education. To this end, based on the 2.0 version of the backward design template, a unit for music lessons for 3rd and 4th grade inclusive classes was developed. The unit presented elements of differentiated instruction that considered students with intellectual disabilities at each stage. In the first stage, goals and essential questions were presented by analyzing the curriculum's achievement standards. In the second stage, a performance task was developed using the GRASPS technique, guidelines and examples were presented. Various evaluation methods based on students' readiness, interest, and learning type were suggested. In the third stage, the unit's seven lessons were planned using the WHERETO model. Examples of differentiated instruction for students with intellectual disabilities were presented by flexibly using classroom elements. This study indicated that understanding by design and differentiated instruction can be applied to inclusive education. Future studies on more diversified educational design and strategies are needed for promoting inclusive education.

Comparison of Handball Result Predictions Using Bagging and Boosting Algorithms (배깅과 부스팅 알고리즘을 이용한 핸드볼 결과 예측 비교)

  • The purpose of this study is to compare the predictive power of the Bagging and Boosting algorithm of ensemble method based on the motion information that occurs in woman handball matches and to analyze the availability of motion information. To this end, this study analyzed the predictive power of the result of 15 practice matches based on inertial motion by analyzing the predictive power of Random Forest and Adaboost algorithms. The results of the study are as follows. First, the prediction rate of the Random Forest algorithm was 66.9 ± 0.1%, and the prediction rate of the Adaboost algorithm was 65.6 ± 1.6%. Second, Random Forest predicted all of the winning results, but none of the losing results. On the other hand, the Adaboost algorithm shows 91.4% prediction of winning and 10.4% prediction of losing. Third, in the verification of the suitability of the algorithm, the Random Forest had no overfitting error, but Adaboost showed an overfitting error. Based on the results of this study, the availability of motion information is high when predicting sports events, and it was confirmed that the Random Forest algorithm was superior to the Adaboost algorithm.

A Comparative Analysis of the New Religious Thought Generated by Indigenous Korean Religions from a Subaltern Perspective: Focusing on Choi Je-woo, Kang Il-sun, and Park Jungbin ('서발턴(subaltern)'의 관점에서 본 한국의 자생 신종교 사상 - 수운, 증산, 소태산의 비교를 중심으로 -)

  • In early modern Korea, the founders of three main-stream indigenous new religions, Choi Je-woo (崔濟愚), Kang Il-sun (姜一淳), and Park Jungbin (朴重彬), were all ruined yangban, who could no longer maintain the social dignity of yangban. Prior to their regular religious activities, they earned livings as rural teachers, peasants, merchants, and fortune-tellers. They were marginalized for having declined from upper-class nobles to lower-class people. Due to their subalternal status, they religiously represented the inexpressible aspirations and resentments held by various subalterns. The millennial movements of marginal religions in the late Joseon Dynasty exposed and deviated from the fetters of the established order, but they did not propose a new alternative order to replace it. Unlike these millennial movements, Choi Je-woo, Kang Il-sun, and Park Jungbin all proposed utopian visions of post-subalternal alternative religions that systematically presented and practiced new alternative worldviews characterized by the "Great Opening of the Later World (後天開闢)." The world they longed for was one wherein anti-subalternal social regulation were overthrown, the oppression of various subalterns end, and the established social order was replaced. In this article, I have argued that three main-stream indigenous Korean new religions, Donghak (Eastern Learning), the Jeungsan-inspired religious movements, and Wonbulgyo (Won Buddhism) are utopian alternative religions. I made this argument by analyzing some aspects by which they represented subalterns and offered subalterns a new religio-social status.

A Study on Customer Review Rating Recommendation and Prediction through Online Promotional Activity Analysis - Focusing on "S" Company Wearable Products - (온라인 판매촉진활동 분석을 통한 고객 리뷰평점 추천 및 예측에 관한 연구 : S사 Wearable 상품중심으로)

  • The purpose of this report is to study a strategic model of promotion activities through various analysis and sales forecasting by selecting wearable products for domestic online companies and collecting sales data. For data analysis, various algorithms are used for analysis and the results are selected as the optimal model. The gradation boosting model, which is selected as the best result, will allow nine independent variables to be entered, including promotion type, price, amount, gender, model, company, grade, sales date, and region, when predicting dependent variables through supervised learning. In this study, the review values set as dependent variables for each type of sales promotion were studied in more detail through the ensemble analysis technique, and the main purpose is to analyze and predict them. The purpose of this study is to study the grades. As a result of the analysis, the evaluation result is 95% of AUC, and F1 is about 93%. In the end, it was confirmed that among the types of sales promotion activities, value-added benefits affected the number of reviews and review grades, and that major variables affected the review and review grades.

The Effects of Chemistry Class Using Computer-Based Science Inquiry Program on Positive Experiences about Science, Science Core Competency, and Academic Achievement (컴퓨터 기반 과학 탐구 프로그램을 활용한 화학 수업이 과학 긍정경험, 과학과 핵심역량 및 학업성취도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of learning using computer-based science inquiry program. To this end, the three lessons computer-based science inquiry were developed in domain of material's properties. The developed program was put into K middle school located in Seoul and the effects were verified. For the experimental group, the three lessons computer-based science inquiry related to the separation of mixture were introduced, and for the comparison group, the contents presented in the textbook were introduced as a teacher-centered teaching method. To verify the effects of the program, 2-way ANCOVA was performed on positive experiences about science and science core competency, and 2-way ANOVA was performed on academic achievement. As a result of the study, there were significant differences between the two groups in positive experiernces about science and scientific core competencies and academic achievement (p<.05), and group*gender interaction effect was only significant in academic achievement (p<.05). From the results of this study, we could see the possibility of using a computer-based science inquiry program as a chemistry teaching method that enables sustainable scientific inquiry.

Development and Validation of Digital Twin for Analysis of Plant Factory Airflow (식물공장 기류해석을 위한 디지털트윈 개발 및 실증)

  • As one of the alternatives to solve the problem of unstable food supply and demand imbalance caused by abnormal climate change, the need for plant factories is increasing. Airflow in plant factory is recognized as one of important factor of plant which influence transpiration and heat transfer. On the other hand, Digital Twin (DT) is getting attention as a means of providing various services that are impossible only with the real system by replicating the real system in the virtual world. This study aimed to develop a digital twin model for airflow prediction that can predict airflow in various situations by applying the concept of digital twin to a plant factory in operation. To this end, first, the mathematical formalism of the digital twin model for airflow analysis in plant factories is presented, and based on this, the information necessary for airflow prediction modeling of a plant factory in operation is specified. Then, the shape of the plant factory is implemented in CAD and the DT model is developed by combining the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) components for airflow behavior analysis. Finally, the DT model for high-accuracy airflow prediction is completed through the validation of the model and the machine learning-based calibration process by comparing the simulation analysis result of the DT model with the actual airflow value collected from the plant factory.

The Structural Relationship between Parents' Positive Parenting Attitude, Negative Parenting Attitude, Emotional Problems, and Academic Helplessness Perceived by Middle School Students (중학생이 지각하는 부모의 긍정적 양육태도, 부정적 양육태도, 정서문제, 학습무기력 사이의 구조적 관계)

  • This study examines the structural relationship between parents' positive parenting attitudes, negative parenting attitudes, emotional problems, and academic helplessness. To this end, the data of 2,590 first-year middle school students in the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey 2018 were used to understand the structural relationship between variables. For this study, the correlation between variables was examined with SPSS 21.0, and the structural relationship between variables was identified with AMOS 21.0. The research results are as follows. First, it was found that the positive parenting attitude and negative parenting attitude of parents had a significant effect on academic helplessness. Second, parents' positive and negative parenting attitudes had a significant effect on emotional problems. Third, emotional problems had a significant positive effect on academic ability. Fourth, emotional problems were partially mediated between parents' positive parenting attitudes, negative parenting attitudes, and academic helplessness. In other words, the emotions of adolescents affected by their parents' parenting attitudes affect their learning. Through this study, it is meaningful to confirm that emotional problems can be treated as factors that influence studies, not simply limited to factors influenced by other factors.
