Power analysis attack on low-power consumed security devices such as smart cards is very powerful, but it is required that the correlation between the measured power signal and the mid-term estimated signal should be consistent in a time instant while running encryption algorithm. The power signals measured from the security device applying the random clock do not match the timing point of analysis, therefore random clock is used as counter measures against power analysis attacks. This paper propose a new constant pitch based time alignment for power analysis with random clock power trace. The proposed method neutralize the effects of random clock used to counter measure by aligning the irregular power signals with the time location and size using the constant pitch. Finally, we apply the proposed one to AES algorithm within randomly clocked environments to evaluate our method.

This paper proposed hardware architecture of the block cryptographic algorithm HIGHT aiming small size and low power application, and analyzed its performance. The HIGHT is a modified algorithm of the Feistel. The encryption and decryption circuit were designed as one iterative block. It reduces the redundant circuit that yields small area. For the performance improvement, the circuit generates 32-bit subkey during 1 clock cycle. we synthesized the HIGHT with Hynix $0.25-{\mu}m$ CMOS technology. The proposed circuit size was 2.658 EG(equivalent gate), and its power consumption was $10.88{\mu}W$ at 2.5V for 100kHz. It is useful for a passive RFID tag or a smart IC card of a small size and low power.

Recently, wireless Internet environment with mobile phones and wireless sensor networks with severe resource restrictions have been actively studied. Moreover, an overall security issues are essential to build a reliable and secure sensor network. One of secure solution is to develop a fast cryptographic algorithm for data encryption. Therefore, we propose a 128-bit stream cipher, AA128 which has efficient implementation of software and hardware and is suitable for real-time applications such as wireless Internet environment with mobile phones, wireless sensor networks and Digital Right Management (DRM). AA128 is stream cipher which consists of 278-bit ASR and non-linear transformation. Non-linear transformation consists of Confusion Function, Nonlinear transformation(SF0 ~ SF3) and Whitening. We show that the proposed stream cipher AA128 is faster than AES and Salsa20, and it satisfies the appropriate security requirements. Our hardware simulation result indicates that the proposed cipher algorithm can satisfy the speed requirements of real-time processing applications.
This paper describes an efficient hardware implementation of modular square root (MSQR) computation over GF(p), which is the operation needed to map plaintext messages to points on elliptic curves for elliptic curve (EC)-ElGamal public-key encryption. Our method supports five sizes of elliptic curves over GF(p) defined by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standard. For the Koblitz curves and the pseudorandom curves with 192-bit, 256-bit, 384-bit and 521-bit, the Euler's Criterion based on the characteristic of the modulo values was applied. For the elliptic curves with 224-bit, the Tonelli-Shanks algorithm was simplified and applied to compute MSQR. The proposed method was implemented using the finite field arithmetic circuit with 32-bit datapath and memory block of elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) processor, and its hardware operation was verified by implementing it on the Virtex-5 field programmable gate array (FPGA) device. When the implemented circuit operates with a 50 MHz clock, the computation of MSQR takes about 18 ms for 224-bit pseudorandom curves and about 4 ms for 256-bit Koblitz curves.

Information Security System is implemented in software, hardware and FPGA device. Implementation of S/W provides high flexibility about various information security algorithm, but it has very vulnerable aspect of speed, power, safety, and performing ASIC is really excellent aspect of speed and power but don't support various security platform because of feature's realization. To improve conflict of these problems, implementation of recent FPGA device is really performed. The goal of this thesis is to design and develop a FPGA hardware accelerator for information security system. It performs as AES, SHA-256 and ECC and is controlled by the Integrated Interface. Furthermore, since the proposed Security Information System can satisfy various requirements and some constraints, it can be applied to numerous information security applications from low-cost applications and high-speed communication systems.

The times of multiplication for encryption and decryption of cryptosystem is primarily determined by implementation efficiency of the modular exponentiation of $a^b$(mod m). The most frequently used among standard modular exponentiation methods is a standard binary method, of which n-ary($2{\leq}n{\leq}6$) is most popular. The n-ary($1{\leq}n{\leq}6$) is a square-and-multiply method which partitions $b=b_kb_{k-1}{\cdots}b_1b_{0(2)}$ into n fixed bits from right to left and squares n times and multiplies bit values. This paper proposes a variable-length partition algorithm that partitions $b_{k-1}{\cdots}b_1b_{0(2)}$ from left to right. The proposed algorithm has proved to reduce the multiplication frequency of the fixed-length partition n-ary method.
The Internet of things (IoT) is the extension of Internet connectivity into various devices and everyday objects. Embedded with electronics, Internet connectivity and other forms of hardware. The IoT poses significant risk to the entire digital ecosystem. This is because so many of these devices are designed without a built-in security system to keep them from being hijacked by hackers. This paper proposed a mutual authentication protocol for IoT Devices using symmetric-key algorithm. The proposed protocol use symmetric key cryptographic algorithm to securely encrypt data on radio channel. In addition, the secret key used for encryption is random number of devices that improves security by using variable secret keys. The proposed protocol blocked attacker and enabled legal deives to communicate because only authenticated devices transmit data by a mutual authentication protocol. Finally, our scheme is safe for attacks such as eavesdropping attack, location tracking, replay attack, spoofing attack and denial of service attack and we confirmed the safety by attack scenario.

Recently, the advent of wireless communication and other handhold devices like Personal Digital Assistants and smart cards have made in implementation of cryptosystems a major issue. One important aspect of modern day ciphers is the scope for hardware sharing between the encryption and decryption algorithm. The cellular Automata which have been proposed as an alternative to linear feedback shift registers(LFSRs) can be programmed to perform the operations without using any dedicated hardware. But to generalize and analyze CA is not easy. In this paper, we characterizes uniform/hybird complemented group CA with rules 195/153/51 that divide the entire state space into smaller spaces of maximal equal lengths. This properties can be useful in constructing key agreement algorithm.
Vehicular Ad Hoc Network(VANET) is a communication technology between vehicles and vehicles(V2V) or vehicles and infrastructures(V2I) for offering a number of practical applications. Considering the importance of communicated information through VANET, data authentication, confidentiality and integrity are fundamental security elements. Recently, to enhance a security of VANET in various circumstances, message authentication is widely researched by many laboratories. Among of them, Zhang. et. al. is an efficient method to authenticate the message with condition of anonymity in dense space. In the scheme, to obtain the vehicular ID with condition of anonymity, the k-anonymity is used. However it has a disadvantage, which conducts hash operations in case of determining the vehicular ID. In the paper, we present a location based algorithm using received signal strength for the location based authentication and encryption technique as well, and to enhance the accuracy of algorithm we apply a location determination technique over the 3-dimensional space.
Stream cipher is an one-time-pad type encryption algorithm that encrypt plaintext using simple operation such as XOR with random stream of bits (or characters) as symmetric key and its security depends on the randomness of used stream. Therefore we can design more secure stream cipher algorithm by using mathematical analysis of the stream such as period, linear complexity, non-linearity, correlation-immunity, etc. The key stream in stream cipher is generated in linear feedback shift register(LFSR) having characteristic polynomial. The primitive polynomial is the characteristic polynomial which has the best security property. It is used widely not only in stream cipher but also in SEED, a block cipher using 8-degree primitive polynomial, and in Chor-Rivest(CR) cipher, a public-key cryptosystem using 24-degree primitive polynomial. In this paper we present the concept and various properties of primitive polynomials in Galois field and prove the theorem finding the number of irreducible polynomials and primitive polynomials over $F_p$ when p is larger than 2. This kind of research can be the foundation of finding primitive polynomials of higher security and developing new cipher algorithms using them.
