A Study on Antecedent Variables for Emotional Labor

  • The purpose of this study is to verify antecedent variables that affect emotional labor. The results are as follows. First, display rules positively affected deep acting and negatively affected surface acting. Second, customer contact time positively affected deep acting but did not affect surface acting. Third, the interaction between display rules and customer contact time did not have significant effects on surface acting but negatively affected deep acting. The implications based on these results are as follows. First, theoretically, this study extends the range of leading variables that affect emotional labor and verifies the moderation effects between these variables. Next, practically, this study suggests that presenting harmonious criteria with regards to display rules and customer contact time that fit well into the concept of food service company is a very useful tool to manage emotional labor of the employees. The limitation of this study is that the causal relationship between variables demonstrated in this study cannot be generalized due to convenience sampling and cross sectional research.

A Study on the Emotional Evaluation of fabric Color Patterns

  • There are Two new models developed for objective evaluation of fabric color patterns by applying a multiple regression analysis and an adaptive foray-rule-based system. The physical features of fabric color patterns are extracted through digital image processing and the emotional features are collected based on the psychological experiments of Soen[3, 4]. The principle physical features are hue, saturation, intensity and the texture of color patterns. The emotional features arc represented thirteen pairs of adverse adjectives. The multiple regression analyses and the adaptive fuzzy system are used as a tool to analyze the relations between physical and emotional features. As a result, both of the proposed models show competent performance for the approximation and the similar linguistic interpretation to the Soen's psychological experiments.

재미교포 아동을 위한 정서지능 교육프로그램 개발의 기초 연구 (The Development of Emotional Intelligence Educational Program for Korean-American Children)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop Emotional Intelligence(EI) educational program for Korean-American children. This program was developed on the basis of instructional designing theory, and its effctviveness was investigated by empirical research. A total of 100 ten- and thirteen-year-old children attending a Korean school in the state of Minnesota, USA, participated in the research. The treatment consisted of 12 courses carried out over 12 weeks. When the emotional intelligence of the experimental and control group were compared at the end of the application, the experimental group showed significantly higher scores than control group on the EI and emotional regulation scores.

The Effect of Health Promotion Behavior on Emotional Happiness

  • This study was designed to examine the affect health promotion behavior to emotional happiness for 20-30's in Korea through cross-sectional descriptive research. There were a total of 279 people who participated in this study, 198(71.0%) were males and 81(29.0%) were females. The data collection period was from December 1 to 15, 2018. The tools used to measure health promotion behaviors were HPB (Health Promotion Behavior) developed by Walker et al., and emotional happiness was PANAS (Positive and Negative Affect Scale) by Developed by Watson et al., All data was analyzed using SPSS 18.0 program. As a result of analysis, 62 (49.6%) were solving interpersonal problems and stress relief while drinking, and the people who ate twice a day were most frequent. In conclusion, health promotion behaviors have a strong correlation with emotional happiness. Based on the above results, it was suggested that the program of happiness for lining in the 20-30s age groups should strengthen the contents of health responsibility, guidance of substance abuse, formation of social relations and self actualization.

소셜미디어 분석기반 재난안전 감성모델 연구 (Research of Emotion Model on Disaster and Safety based on Analyzing Social Media)

  • People use social media platforms such as Twitter to leave traces of their personal thoughts and opinions. In other words, social media platforms retain the emotions of the people as it is, and accurately understanding the emotions of the people through social media will be used as a significant index for disaster management. In this research, emotion type modeling method and emotional quotient quantification method will be proposed to understand the emotions present in social media platforms. Emotion types are primarily analyzed based on 3 major emotions of affirmation, caution, and observation. Then, in order to understand the public's emotional progress according to the progress of disaster or accident and government response in detail, negative emotions are broken down into anxiety, seriousness, sadness, and complaint to enhance the analysis. Ultimately, positive emotions are further broken down into 3 more emotions, and Russell emotion model was used as a reference to develop a model of 8 primary emotions in order to acquire an overall understanding of the public's emotions. Then, the emotional quotient of each emotion was quantified. Based on the results, overall emotional status of the public is monitored, and in the event of a disaster, the public's emotional fluctuation rate could be quantitatively observed.

The Effects of Customer-appraised Physical Attractiveness of Employees on Emotional Response and Customer Satisfaction in Casual Dining Restaurants: Focused on University and Graduate Students in Seoul

  • 본 연구에서는 대학생 및 대학원생을 대상으로 패밀리레스토랑의 서비스 상황에서 지각된 직원의 신체적 매력도가 감정적 반응 및 고객만족도에 미치는 영향을 고찰하였으며, 이러한 인과관계에서 감정적 반응의 매개역할을 추가적으로 검증하였다. 패밀리레스토랑에서의 서비스 상황에 대한 시나리오 설문을 통해 총 249명의 대학생으로부터 자료를 수집하였다. 분석 결과, 고객에게 인지된 직원의 신체적 매력도는 감정적 반응(${\alpha}_{11}$=.624)과 고객만족도(${\alpha}_{21}$=.495)에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났으며, 감정적 반응은 고객만족도(${\beta}_{21}$=.312)에도 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 주는 것으로 조사되었다. 또한 직원의 신체적 매력도가 고객만족도에 미치는 영향은 감정적 반응에 의해 부분적으로 매개되는 것으로 나타났다.

Organizational Culture And Emotional Intelligence As Predictors Of Job Performance Among Library Personnel In Academic Libraries In Edo State, Nigeria

  • This study was designed to investigate organizational culture and emotional intelligence as predictors of job performance among library personnel in Edo state, Nigeria. The survey research design was employed for the study with a population size of 181 library personnel in the 15 academic libraries under study, and due to the manageable population size, total enumeration was adopted as the sampling technique. The questionnaire was used to elicit data from the respondents. Of the 181 copies of the questionnaire administered, 163 copies were retrieved and found valid for analysis constituting a 90% response rate. Four research questions and four null hypotheses (tested at 0.05 level of significance) were formulated to guide the study. The tool used to analyze the research question was descriptive statistics (percentage, mean, and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (correlation and multiple regression) for testing the hypotheses. The findings of the study revealed that there is a high level of job performance, good organizational culture, and high level of emotional intelligence among the personnel. Organizational culture and emotional intelligence jointly and significantly predict job performance of personnel. There is significant positive correlation between organizational culture and job performance. The linear combination of emotional intelligence and organizational culture predict job performance of library personnel in the academic libraries under study. The research concludes that there is a need for high job performance in libraries which is predicted by the organizational culture of the library and the level of emotional intelligence of the library personnel.

호텔 종사원들의 감성스타일이 소비 형태에 미치는 영향 (Comparison Analysis on Consumption Behavior depending on Emotional Style)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 감성스타일의 부조화와 직무소진 및 감성지능을 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 조절효과분석과 중심효과분석 그리고 요인분석을 실시하였다. 국내 호텔에서 근무하는 233명의 전방부서 종사원들을 대상으로 연구를 진행한 결과, 주요 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 종사원들의 감정스타일이 발생하면 소비형태를 느끼게 되는데, 종사원들의 감성지능의 값이 증가하면 이러한 영향은 완화되는 조절효과가 나타났다. 둘째, 감정부조화는 직무소진을 경유하여 생활에 영향을 미치는 효과가 나타났다. 셋째, 감정 부조화가 직무소진을 거쳐 이직의도에 영향을 주는 소비효과가 모든 종사원들에게 동일하게 나타나는 것이 아니라, 감성지능의 값이 낮은 종사원들에게만 나타나고, 감성지능이 풍부한 종사원들에게는 나타나지 않는 조절된 감성효과로 확인되었다. 우수한 인적 자원이 이직하는 상황을 해결하기 위하여 호텔관리자들은 제도적인 장치를 마련하여야 할 것이다. 즉, 상담 등을 통하여 호텔종사원들의 감정부조화와 직무소진을 감소시키기 위한 노력을 해야 하며, 특히 종사원들의 감성지능을 향상시키기 위한 전략 수립이 절대적으로 필요할 것이다. 이는 채용 시에 감성지능이 높은 종사원들을 고용하는 전략뿐만 아니라, 종사원들의 감성지능을 증진시키기 위한 교육프로그램 등의 개발을 적극적으로 고려하여야 할 것이다.

기독교인 영아교사의 신앙성숙도가 교사-영아 상호작용, 정서노동, 정서지능에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Religious Maturity of Christian Teachers in Child Care Centers on Teacher-Infant Interaction, Emotional Labor and Emotional Intelligence)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of religious maturity of Christian teachers in child care centers on teacher-infant interaction, emotional labor and emotional intelligence. The survey was conducted on 173 Christian teachers of early-child classes who work in child care centers in Gyeonggi-do province. For the research analysis, frequency and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ coefficient were calculated and regression analysis were conducted. The results are as follows. First, the affective and volitional factors from religious maturity of Christian teachers in child care centers have had a positive influence on the overall teacher-infant interaction. Second, the affective factor from religious maturity of Christian teachers in child care centers have had a negative influence on outward behavior, which is the lower variable of emotional work, and a positive influence on inner behavior. Third, the volitional factor from religious maturity of Christian teachers in child care centers have had a positive influence on perception of self-emotions, perception of others' emotion, emotional application, emotional control, and emotional intelligence overall.

호텔레스토랑 종사원의 감성지능이 조직몰입과 고객지향성에 미치는 영향관계에 대한 연구 (The Influence of Hotel Restaurant Employee's Emotional Intelligence on Organizational Commitment and Customer Orientation)

  • This study was performed to verify the importance of emotional aspect for hotel employees to derive the organizational commitment and customer orientation. Present study estimated the emotional intelligence as four factors: self emotion, other emotion, emotional utilization, and emotional regulation. Online survey method was used and distributed the questionnaires to hotel employees who are working for restaurants. A total of 300 questionnaires were distributed and 257 participants were employed for statistical analysis using SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 21.0 for Windows. As results, two factors(emotional utilization and emotional regulation) were significant antecedents of organizational commitment, and three factors(self emotion, other emotion, and emotional utilization) were critical predictors of customer orientation. In addition, organizational commitment has significantly influenced the customer orientation. According to the results of this study, hotel restaurant managers or hotel company need to understand the importance of the emotional intelligence for providing better service to their customers as well as improving the organizational commitment. These results will contribute to develop advanced marketing strategics for hotel restaurants employees who have many connections with customers in a hotel.
