Mothers of 101 5- to 6-year-old children were administered the Parenting Efficacy Test (Shin & Jung, 1998; Ann & Park 2002) and the Parenting Stress Index (Lee, Yeom, & Shin, 2000). Children's emotional intelligence (EI) was measured by the Emotional Intelligence Test for Children (Lee & Lee, 2004b). Data were analyzed by correlation and multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA). Correlation analysis demonstrated a relationship of parenting efficacy and stress with child's EI. MANOVA revealed that children, whose maternal parenting efficacy was in the upper thirty percent, showed higher EI than parenting efficacy in the lower thirty percent : children whose maternal parenting stress was in the upper thirty percent, showed lower EI than those with stress in the lower thirty percent.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of a cyclical empathy model-based empathy enhancement program on young children's empathy, peer competence and emotional intelligence. Methods: A total of 40 subjects were selected for this study from 5-year-old children attending S Day Care Center located in Seoul, out of whom 20 were assigned to an experimental group and the remaining 20 to a comparative group (control group). The SPSS 21 statistical program was used to determine whether there was a significant difference between the two groups in the effectiveness of the program implementation. Results: There were statistically significant differences in the changes between the pre and post scores of the experimental group and the comparative group, which showed that the cyclical empathy model-based empathy enhancement program was effective for the young children's empathy, peer competence and emotional intelligence. Conclusion/Implications: This study suggests that if a young children's empathy enhancement program can be applied to child care sites to help the teachers in the field children can overcome empathy-related difficulties by themselves. This study also provides basic information in order to have meaningful educational experiences in young children's education institutions.

Each group participated in a sixteen-session program twice a week during eight weeks. The data were analyzed by a SPSSWIN 10.0 program. ANCOVA and F-test were used to examine the effects of GGPT of the experimental group. The major results of this study were as follows. Firstly, the level of subject's emotional intelligence of the experimental group got higher than that of the control group. Secondly, the level of subject's self-esteem of the experimental group got higher than that of the control group.

The activities of traditional outdoor play were carried out twice in a week in the experimental group, and only the regular activities of kindergarten program in the control group for 12 consecutive weeks. The data were analyzed by paired t-test, independent t-test. Major findings are as follows: First, the program affected on the children's emotional recognition and expression about the self identity and importance, while there were no significant differences in the children's emotional regulation and self-motivation. These results showed that educational and funny traditional outdoor play contributes to children's emotional intelligence and development.
The purpose of study was to examine the effects of an emotional intelligence development program on the stress recognition and stress coping of elementary school children. The subjects of this study are 24 fourth grade students who were selected based on the level of their emotional intelligence and stress recognition(level under the mean). They were divided into an experimental group and a control group, and each group had 12 students. The quantitative results of this study are as follows: First, the experimental-group increased in the level of emotional intelligence and showed a significant increase in the sub-areas of emotional intelligence(emotional recognition and expression, thought promotion) than the control group. Second, the experimental group decreased in the level of stress recognition and showed a significant decrease in the sub-areas of stress recognition(parents, family environment, friends, schoolworks) than the control group. Third, the experimental group improved in stress coping and showed a significant improvement in the sub-areas of stress coping(active coping, passive/avoidant coping, and social support seeking coping) than the control group. The purpose of this study was to identify significant differences in dietary guidelines, emotional intelligence, resilience and violence according to the frequency of family meals for middle school students in Daegu. To achieve the purpose of this study, 241 data collected through self-administered questionnaires were analyzed. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS (v25.0) program for frequency, percentage, standard deviation, reliability, one-way ANOVA and Duncan comparison. The results of this study were as follows. There was a significant difference in the level of the dietary guidelines practice, emotional intelligence and resilience according to the frequency of family meals of middle school students. Implications and suggestions based on the results of this study were as follows. First, family meal frequency is significantly related to middle school students' dietary guidelines practice, emotional intelligence, and resilience (p<0.05). Accordingly, personal efforts and social and institutional arrangements are required to increase the family meal frequency. Second, some of the core competences required in the 2015 revised curriculum were consistent with sub-areas of emotional intelligence and resilience, which can be predicted by the results that family meal experience of middle school students is also related to the development of core competences. In conclusion, increasing family meal frequency is important considering the trend of education, and is required for personality education.

This study examined whether there are differences in the empathic ability and emotional intelligence by college students' counseling course-taking experience and major. The research subjects were 313 college students, and an independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Duncan post-hoc test were conducted for hypothesis testing. A difference in empathic ability was observed according to the students' sex, major, and counseling course-taking experience. A difference in emotional intelligence according to their sex and counseling course-taking experience was noted. Empathic ability was higher in females than in males, higher in the school of social sciences than in the school of science and technology, and higher in those who had counseling education than in those who did not. Emotional intelligence was higher in women than in men, and higher in students who had counseling education than in those who did not. Consequently, the effectiveness of counseling education was confirmed. On the other hand, a limitation of theoretical education was found in that there was no difference in emotional intelligence according to the major. Although empathic ability can be improved by education, the current curriculum has not improved it. This study has significance that it emphasizes the need for supplementing the curriculum, like practice or utilizing art media.
