Purpose: This study aimed to develop an emotive role-play program for nursing students focusing on high-risk pregnancy and analyze its effects on communication skills, clinical performance, and emotional intelligence. Methods: A quasi-experimental nonequivalent comparison group design was adopted with 83 nursing students (experimental group, 45; comparison group, 38) who participated voluntarily in an extracurricular program. The preliminary survey was conducted on November 3 and November 4, 2020, and the follow-up survey was conducted on November 12, 2020, for the comparison group and on November 27, 2020, for the experimental group. A program that included five role-play scenarios related to induced labor, preeclampsia, premature rupture of membranes, preterm labor, and infertility was developed by a group of experts and presented to the experimental group over 11 total hours across 3 days. Each student participated in a role-play scenario as a patient, family member, or nurse and observed three other scenarios. The comparison group received a workbook after the follow-up evaluation. The independent t-test was performed to analyze changes in communication skills, clinical performance, and emotional intelligence. Results: Communication skills (t=1.84, p=.035) and clinical performance (t=2.75, p=.004) significantly increased in the experimental group compared to the comparison group. A significant difference was not observed between the experimental and comparison groups for emotional intelligence (t=1.36, p=.088). Conclusion: The emotive role-play program concerning high-risk pregnancy was effective in improving nursing students' communication skills and clinical performance and can be used in nursing education related to high-risk pregnancy and childbirth.
This study investigated the effects of the extension activity with fifty famous paintings on the improvement of young children's creativity and emotional intelligence. A total of thirty-one preschoolers participated in the study. There were a total of 15 preschoolers in the experimental group and 16 preschoolers in the comparison group. The measuring device of creativity was the Figural Tests of Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking (TTCT:Firural). And the measuring tool of emotional intelligence was the 'Emotional Intelligence Evaluation Tool for a Child by Teacher's Composer' developed by Younja Lee, Jongsook Lee, and Eunsu Shin (2000). To improve the accuracy of the experimental results from the post-test, a covariance analysis (ANCOVA) was conducted with the pre-test scores as covariate and the post-test scores as dependent variables. The statistical work with collected data was carried out by using PASW 18.0. The experimental group which participated in the extension activity with famous paintings showed improvement in the subordinate elements of creativity such as fluency, originality and abstraction of titles. Between the experimental group and comparison group, there was a meaningful difference statistically. The experimental group was also positively affected on all the subordinate elements of emotional intelligence such as awareness and expression of emotions, improvement of thinking by emotions, using ability of emotional knowledge, and control ability as the reflection of emotions. Through the activity, children became to respect the opinions of other friends.
This study was conducted to investigate the impact of emotional intelligence according to the level of interpersonal relation competence. For the study, data were collected from 126 students in the department of nursing at a university located in B city from November 29 to December 16, 2019, and data were analyzed by Anova and Regression analysis. The interpersonal relation competence of nursing students was classified into less than 60 and 60 or more. In the group with an average of less than 60 in interpersonal relation competence. nursing students' self-emotional expression and control of others were significant positive effecting factors for interpersonal relation competence(explanatory power, 22.5%). In the group with an average of 60 or more in interpersonal relationship competence, self-emotional expression and Motivation were significant effecting factors(explanatory power 33.6%). According to the results of this study, we propose an individual approach according to their level of interpersonal relation competence for nursing education to improve the interpersonal relation competence abilities of nursing students.

Purpose: Nursing is regarded as a female-dominated profession. However, the number of Korean males entering the field of nursing is increasing. This study examines which of the following factors influence professionalism in male and female student nurses: area of nursing, gender identity, gender stereotypes, satisfaction with the field, emotional intelligence, and interpersonal relationships. Method: In total, 133 male and 293 female student nurses were selected from four Korean provinces between July 2013 and February 2014 to participate in this study. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-tests, ${\chi}^2$-tests of independence, and multiple regression analyses using SPSS/Win 20 software. Results: In males, 47.4% of variance in nursing professionalism was accounted for by grades, interpersonal relationships, gender stereotypes, and satisfaction with the field. In females, 41.9% of variance in nursing professionalism was accounted for by satisfaction with the field, interpersonal relationships, area of nursing, age, emotional intelligence and grades. Common factors that influenced both genders included satisfaction with the field, interpersonal relationships and grades. Conclusion: Although males and females revealed no significant differences in overall mean scores of nursing professionalism, several factors influencing nursing professionalism did differ by gender. Therefore, gender-specific nursing educational and training programs may be necessary to promote professionalism among student nurses.
With the development of artificial intelligence, a wave of the 4th industrial revolution is taking place around the world. With the technologies such as big data and Internet of Things-based artificial intelligence, we are heading to a hyper-connected society where everything converges into one. Accordingly as educational talents in the era of artificial intelligence, we are pursuing the cultivation of creative convergence-type talents and emotional creative talents. With human creativity and emotion at the center, we should be able to collaborate with artificial intelligence and create new things by converging knowledge in various fields. By developing a program that combines humanities-oriented Korean language with engineering-oriented artificial intelligence, this research attempted to help students experience solving problems creatively by combining humanistic knowledge with engineering thinking skills. The educational program consists of two kinds of contents(i.e., "Books with AI" and "A Play with AI") and 15 classes that provide students with opportunities to solve humanities problems with artificial intelligence.
This study explored relationships among temperament, multiple intelligences and play characteristics of preschool children. Participants were 150 mothers of preschool children and 10 preschool teachers in Seoul. They responded to questionnaires; data were analyzed by correlation and multiple-regression major results showed there were positive correlations between emotionality sub-areas of children's temperament and play and between multiple intelligences and play as follows : (1) Cognitive play was predicted by linguistic intelligence and response of temperament, (2) Language play was predicted by interpersonal intelligence and physiology-regulation of temperament, (3) Social play was predicted by interpersonal intelligence and response of temperament, (4) Emotional play was predicted by logical-mathematical intelligence and emotions of temperament, and (5) Movement play was predicted by logical-mathematical intelligence.

An increasing number of educators emphasize the affective domain in learning. Affective and cognitive objectives interact and can not be separated from each other. Good emotions and feelings assist students achieving optimally in the cognitive domain. Emotional intelligence harmonizes well with an affective science curriculum. The purpose of this study was to explore the effectiveness of EQ(Emotional quotient) improvement program on students' EQ, science achievement, the science related attitudes, and science anxiety. A pretest-posttest control group design was employed. Subjects were 168 male and female first grade students in a middle school. A control group was instructed with a traditional teaching method, and an experimental group was instructed using EQ improvement program. Two groups were treated for 42 hours during 14 weeks. Two way ANCOVA and correlation analysis was performed using the SPSS. The results indicated that students who received EQ program got higher EQ and their science anxiety was lowered than students who were in a control group(p<.05). EQ program was not significantly effective on science attitude than the traditional instruction but, in the domain 'the enjoyment of science class' it was effective(p<.05). EQ program was significantly effective on students' achievement than the traditional instruction(p<.05).
