  • 본 연구에서는 Home Network System에서 가전기기들을 제어하고 집안의 상황을 원격지에 있는 사용자에게 전달해 줄 수 있는 Home Network Mobile Robot을 제작하여 보다 더 지능적이고 사용자에게 편리한 Home Network System을 구축한다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 실제 Home Network 시스템 하에서의 자율이동 로봇을 고안하였으며 이의 구동을 위해 OS로는 Linux Kernel 2.4를 Porting 하였고, Vision 및 Ethernet 통신이 용이하도록 회로를 설계, 제작하였다.

  • Modern distributed control systems focus on system openness, network system architecture and PC based controller. This paper discusses the embedded systems with ORB for distributed control systems. Embedded systems have merits such as small size, low cost and user convenience. ORB allows users to program easily by using IDL and provides client/server network for heterogeneous platforms. By using embedded systems and ORB, we implement the system and validate it by using VME system. The developed system has benefits when it is applied to distributed control systems.

Suggestion of an Fiber Channel-Embedded IPTV STB for Optical Fiber-based IPTV Networks (광섬유 기반 IPTV 네트워크를 위한 FC 내장형 IPTV STB 제안)

  • Recently, the Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) services have become very common, enabling various Internet-based services as well as watching TV. In the IPTV system, a Set-Top box (STB) plays a key role as a network terminal device that transmits and receives realtime multimedia contents. In addition, the IPTV networks are usually supported by broadband optical fiber-base network such as fiber-to-the-home (FTTH), However, a general IPTV STB is regarded as one of the local area network (LAN)-attached devices while sharing the bandwidth of the LAN (e.g., Ethernet). In order to overcome the limited bandwidth utilization by fully facilitating the broadband bandwidth (e.g., 1 Gbps) of the optical fiber-based network, we propose a new FC (Fiber Channel)-embedded IPTV STB which can be directly attached to the optical fiber network. Then, we verify that the impacts of the proposed FC-embedded IPTV STB by organizing the the FC-AL (Fiber Channel-Arbitration Loop) network equipped with the FC-embedded IPTV We measures the average Start-up Delay, Average Reject Ratio and the Number of Concurrent Users through extensive simulations to investigate the performances of the suggested FC-AL-based IPTV network. Surprisingly, the IPTV network architecture with the proposed FC-embedded IPTV STBs has an excellent average start-up delay of less than 10 msec, an acceptable average reject ratio of less than 3 % as well as a linear increase of the number of concurrent users when extending the architecture. This reveals that the proposed FC embedded STB has a superior impacts on the performance of the entire IPTV network by effectively utilizing the broadband bandwidth of the fiber optic-based network.

  • In this paper, we will analyze embedding among Folded Hypercube, Even Network and Odd Network to further improve the network cost of Hypercube. We will show Folded Hypercube $FQ_n$ can be embedded into Even Network $E_{n-1}$ with dilation 2, congestion 1 and Even Network $E_d$ can be embedded into Folded Hypercube $FQ_{2d-3}$ with dilation 1. Also, we will prove Folded Hypercube $FQ_n$ can be embedded into Odd Network $O_{n-1}$ with dilation 2, congestion 1 and Odd Network $O_d$ can be embedded into Folded Hypercube $FQ_{2d-3}$ with dilation 2, congestion 1. Finally, we will show Even Network $E_d$ can be embedded into Odd Network $O_d$ with dilation 2, congestion 1 and Odd Network $O_d$ can be embedded into Folded Hypercube $E_{d-1}$ with dilation 2, congestion 1.

Design and Implementation of Embedded Ethernet Module for Home Network (홈 네트워크를 위한 Embedded Ethernet Module 설계 및 구현)

  • The necessity of the home network have been enlarged gradually according to the distribution of ultra-high speed internet, the expansion of a digital information equipment and the change of a life pattern. In this paper, we proposed the embedded ethernet module that could be operate on eight bit system, but it could control home appliance with full ethernet speed. The embedded ethernet module consists of 8051 MCU and Hardware TCP/IP. In this module, we construct simple web server and port remote control program for I/O device control. We verified through internet that the developed embedded ethernet module could control and check home appliances anywhere and anytime. We expect the developed ethernet module can build up niche market at home network. And it will be helpful to activate home network market.

  • This paper presents the development of embedded network educational system. This is an educational equipment which enables user to have training over Network Configuration and Embedded network programming practice on Internet environment. The network education system is developed on embedded environment. based on using ethernet interface. On the development environment. PAX255 VLSI chip is used for the processor, the ADSv1.2 for debugging, uC/OS276 for RTOS. The system software was developed using C language. The ping program provided an educational environment for the student to compile and load it to run after doing practice of demonstration behavior. Afterwards programming procedure starts the step-by-step training just like the demonstration function. In other words, programming method how to design the procedure of ARP operation and ICMP operation is explained.

  • This paper addresses the system lifetime maximization algorithm in multi-hop sensor network system. A multi-hop sensor network consists of many battery-driven sensor nodes that collaborate with each other to gather, process, and communicate information using wireless communications. As sensor-driven applications become increasingly integrated into our lives, we propose a energy-aware scheme where each sensor node transmits informative data with adaptive data rate to minimize system energy consumption. We show the optimal data rate to maximize the system lifetime in terms of remaining system energy. Furthermore, the proposed algorithm experimentally shows longer system lifetime in comparison with greedy algorithm.

  • This paper presents the implementation of an educational kit for intelligent system control education. Neural network control algorithms are presented and control hardware is embedded to control the inverted pendulum system. The RBF network and the MLP network are implemented and embedded on the DSP 2812 chip and other necessary functions are embedded on an FPGA chip. Experimental studies are conducted to compare performances of two neural control methods. The intelligent control educational kit(ICEK) is implemented with the inverted pendulum system whose movements of the cart is limited by space. Experimental results show that the neural controllers can manage to control both the angle and the position of the inverted pendulum systems within a limited distance. Performances of the RCT and the FEL control method are compared as well.

  • Since the radio spectrum is limited, future wireless system will have micro cellular architecture in order to provide multimedia traffic services on personal communicatons network. The small coverage area of micro cellular systems results in frequent hadnoffs and location updates. We focuse on network load and terminal power due to frequent location updates and propose a location tracking scheme using embedded-pager PCS terminals. The proposed scheme is expected to minimize theconsumption of PCS terminal powr and improve the receiving rate of callee because of the power saving mechanism and the embedded-pager PCS terminal. This paper proposes signaling flows among the network elements for the proposed location tracking scheme. The signaling flows are accomodated to not only the existed network architectures but alsothe ATM backbone network arcitecture. To verify the signaling flows, we used petri-Net model. The resutls show that the signaling flows are suitable to our proposed location tracking scheme.
