Channel Doping Concentration Dependent Threshold Voltage Movement of Asymmetric Double Gate MOSFET (비대칭 이중게이트 MOSFET의 도핑농도에 대한 문턱전압이동)

  • This paper has analyzed threshold voltage movement for channel doping concentration of asymmetric double gate(DG) MOSFET. The asymmetric DGMOSFET is generally fabricated with low doping channel and fully depleted under operation. Since impurity scattering is lessened, asymmetric DGMOSFET has the adventage that high speed operation is possible. The threshold voltage movement, one of short channel effects necessarily occurred in fine devices, is investigated for the change of channel doping concentration in asymmetric DGMOSFET. The analytical potential distribution of series form is derived from Possion's equation to obtain threshold voltage. The movement of threshold voltage is investigated for channel doping concentration with parameters of channel length, channel thickness, oxide thickness, and doping profiles. As a result, threshold voltage increases with increase of doping concentration, and that decreases with decrease of channel length. Threshold voltage increases with decrease of channel thickness and bottom gate voltage. Lastly threshold voltage increases with decrease of oxide thickness.

NEMO-enabled Hybrid Distributed Mobility Management (네트워크 이동성을 지원하는 하이브리드 분산 이동성 관리)

  • In Distributed Mobility Management (DMM) protocol, the mobility functions are distributed to network edge closer to mobile users. DMM protocol has some advantages of low-cost traffic delivery, optimized routing path, high scalability. However, it needs many mobile anchors to exchange signaling messages and it results in a high signaling cost. Thus, previous works suggested the hybrid DMM protocol to reduce the high signaling cost for long-live sessions and this paper extends a hybrid scheme to the NEMO environment. The mobile routers are installed at vehicles and can move together with several mobile devices. So we can define the high-mobility property for mobile routers and suggest the hybrid scheme using this property. According to the high-mobility property of mobile routers, we can distribute the mobile anchors or allocate a centralized mobile anchor. In this paper, we mathematically analyze the performance of the proposed NEMO-enabled hybrid DMM protocol and show superior performance.

  • The explosion of the Internet has brought an acute need for efficient operation, which becomes to develop several technologies based on optical networks. By matching merging technology using wavelength multiplexing, an efficient administration with limited wavelength can provide scalability of network. The merging in optical layer has limitation of devices since the merging can not be performed in this layer. Hence the merging must be implemented in electronic layer. When the merging is implemented, the delay time would be increased in OXC (Optical Cross Connection), but the improvement of throughput rate will be expected in the process of explosive traffic due to reduction of optical channel supporting large bandwidth. In this thesis, we proposed an OXC of dual module having a merging function. We considered the optimum merging point with the largest in system performance and confirmed results using the simulation.

Electromagnetic Wave Absorption Properties of Fe-based Nanocrystalline P/M sheets with Al2O3 additive (Al2O3 첨가에 따른 Fe계 나노결정립 P/M시트의 전자파 흡수특성)

  • Electromagnetic wave absorbing materials have been developed to reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI) for electronic devices in recent years. In this study, Fe-Si-B-Nb-Cu base amorphous strip was pulverized using a jet mill and an attritor and heat-treated to get flake-shaped nanocrystalline powders, and then the powders were mixed, cast and dried with dielectric $Al_{2}O_{3}$ powders and binders. As a result, the addition of $Al_{2}O_{3}$ powders improved the absorbing properties of the sheets noticeably compared with those of the sheets without dielectric materials. The sheet mixed with 2 wt% $Al_{2}O_{3}$ powder showed the best electromagnetic wave absorption, which was caused by the increase of the permittivity and the electric resistance due to the dielectric materials finely dispersed on the Fe-based powder.

Pyroshock and Vibration Isolation using SMA Mesh Washer Isolator (형상기억합금 메쉬 와셔 절연계의 파이로 충격 및 진동 절연 시험)

  • In general, pyroshock is generated from the actuation of separation devices for several stage, fairing, and satellite separation in the flight of a launch vehicle. During these events, transient vibration phenomenon called pyroshock, which shows large acceleration in the high frequency range, occurs and it can result in the malfunction of electronic components which is equipped inside the launch vehicle or satellite. In this paper, mesh washer isolators made out of SMA were introduced for the isolation of pyroshock. One type of isolator primarily used pseudoelastic characteristics of SMA and the other type of isolator used shape memory effect of SMA. For the study of basic load-displacement relationship of each SMA isolator, compressive loading tests were performed and the results showed the capability of the isolator itself. Pyroshock isolation tests were followed and verified the outstanding isolation performance of isolator. In addition, random vibration tests were also performed and checked the dynamic characteristics of each SMA isolator.

Study on Evaluation of Local Cooling Performance using Piezoelectric and Thermoelectric Modules (압전소자와 열전소자를 이용한 국소부 냉각성능 평가에 관한 연구)

  • This paper investigated experimentally the performance of cooling systems using thermoelectric and piezoelectric modules for local heating and temperature control, such as a handheld electronic devices. The temperature distribution of the cooling region using thermoelectric modules was measured when the piezoelectric module was and was not with a frequency of 80Hz and 110Hz. The coefficients of performance were also calculated by the temperature results, and the thermo-flow phenomena in the cold region was visualized under the same conditions. The results of the temperature distribution measurements and the coefficient of performance showed that the cooling performance of the cooling system using thermoelectric modules can be improved by operating the piezoelectric module. In addition, when the piezoelectric module was operated based on the result of visualization in the cold region, which was formed by thermoelectric modules, the performance thermoelectric cooling was improved by the thermo-flow formed in the entire cold region as the forced convection of vibration was generated on the local cold region by the piezoelectric module.

Characteristics in Calcination of Magnesite Ore in Yongyang Mines (용양山 마그네사이트鑛石의 하燒 특성)

  • Worldwide magnesium market has been considerably growing recently due to adoption as light materials for automobile engines and electronic devices such as mobile phones. In this study, it is to prepare magnesium oxide, which is the first-step product in smelting of magnesium from the ore, using magnesite of Yongyanag mines in North Korea as raw ores. MgO grade of the magnesite was about 45 wt%, and SiO$_2$, CaO, Al$_2O_3$ and Fe$_2O_3$ were contained as impurities. The sample ore was crushed, classified and thermally analyzed to determine its calcination temperature. The sample of 45-75 ${\mu}m$ size was calcined at 600-900$^{\circ}C$, and effect of temperature on calcination and change of the particle shape was investigated. Optimum temperature of the calcination was about 750$^{\circ}C$, and 30 minutes was sufficient to obtain over 99% conversion. The purity of the calcined MgO was about 95 wt%.

Power Loss Modeling of Individual IGBT and Advanced Voltage Balancing Scheme for MMC in VSC-HVDC System

  • This paper presents the new power dissipation model of individual switching device in a high-level modular multilevel converter (MMC), which can be mostly used in voltage sourced converter (VSC) based high-voltage direct current (HVDC) system and flexible AC transmission system (FACTS). Also, the voltage balancing method based on sorting algorithm is newly proposed to advance the MMC functionalities by effectively adjusting switching variations of the sub-module (SM). The proposed power dissipation model does not fully calculate the average power dissipation for numerous switching devices in an arm module. Instead, it estimates the power dissipation of every switching element based on the inherent operational principle of SM in MMC. In other words, the power dissipation is computed in every single switching event by using the polynomial curve fitting model with minimum computational efforts and high accuracy, which are required to manage the large number of SMs. After estimating the value of power dissipation, the thermal condition of every switching element is considered in the case of external disturbance. Then, the arm modeling for high-level MMC and its control scheme is implemented with the electromagnetic transient simulation program. Finally, the case study for applying to the MMC based HVDC system is carried out to select the appropriate insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) module in a steady-state, as well as to estimate the proper thermal condition of every switching element in a transient state.

MapReduce-Based Partitioner Big Data Analysis Scheme for Processing Rate of Log Analysis (로그 분석 처리율 향상을 위한 맵리듀스 기반 분할 빅데이터 분석 기법)

  • Owing to the advancement of Internet and smart devices, access to various media such as social media became easy; thus, a large amount of big data is being produced. Particularly, the companies that provide various Internet services are analyzing the big data by using the MapReduce-based big data analysis techniques to investigate the customer preferences and patterns and strengthen the security. However, with MapReduce, when the big data is analyzed by defining the number of reducer objects generated in the reduce stage as one, the processing rate of big data analysis decreases. Therefore, in this paper, a MapReduce-based split big data analysis method is proposed to improve the log analysis processing rate. The proposed method separates the reducer partitioning stage and the analysis result combining stage and improves the big data processing rate by decreasing the bottleneck phenomenon by generating the number of reducer objects dynamically.

Real-time Video Matting for Mobile Device (모바일 환경에서 실시간 영상 전경 추출 연구)

  • Recently, various applications for image processing have been ported to the mobile environment due to the expansion of the image shooting on the mobile device. However, in the case of extracting the image foreground, which is one of the most important functions of image synthesis, is difficult since it needs complex calculation. In this paper, we propose an video synthesis technique that can divide images captured by mobile devices into foreground / background and combine them in real time on target images. Considering the characteristics of mobile shooting, our system can extract automatically foreground of input video that contains weak motion when shooting. Using SIMD and GPGPU-based acceleration algorithms, SD-quality images can be processed on mobile in real time.
