  • This study purposed to discover whether or not academic libraries reflect these changing roles. We selected K University as the research target and surveyed user satisfaction of materials, staff services, facilities, electronic devices, media, and so on. The research findings are as follows: 1) the frequency of library visits of University K was on the high side, 2) the primary purpose of using the academic library was associated with learning or reading, therefore, the most used library spaces were related to that, 3) the most used library materials were 'general books', the most unused were 'reference books', 4) the most preferred way to obtain needed materials when failing to find wanted materials was 'Contact librarian'. A similar phenomenon occurred in terms of facility use, 5) university K's users were usually satisfied with the loan policy, 6) the rate of users who don't know whether there is user education was very high, the rate of users who have no experience with user education was extremely low. These research findings can be referenced by library management to improve libraries' service quality and take advantage of complex spatial configurations.

  • Objective: Speedy surgical orthodontics (SSO), an innovative orthodontic treatment, involves the application of orthopedic forces against temporary skeletal anchorage devices following perisegmental corticotomy to induce movement of specific dental segments. Herein, we report the biological effects of SSO on the teeth and periodontal structures. Methods: Five beagle dogs were divided into 2 groups and their 6 maxillary incisors were retracted $en$ $masse$ by applying 500 g orthopedic force against a single palatal mini-plate. Retraction was performed without and with perisegmental corticotomy in groups I and II, respectively. All animals were killed on the 70th day, and their periodontal structures were processed for histologic analyses and scanning electronic microscopy (SEM). The linear distance between the third maxillary incisor and canine was used as a benchmark to quantify the retraction amount. Results: Retraction was markedly faster and retraction amount greater in group II than in Group I. Surprisingly, Group II did not show any root resorption despite extensive retraction, while Group I showed prominent root surface irregularities. Similarly, SEM showed multiple resorption lacunae in Group I, but not in Group II. Conclusions: SSO is an effective and favorable orthodontic approach for major en masse retraction of the maxillary anterior teeth.

  • The widespread development of IT, growth of Web 2.0 application, the proliferation of personal hand held devices with access to the internet, and the availability of wireless networks, each have played an important role in creating the cloud computing model. Cloud computing is a business model and new trend of web application technology. The term is often used in the same context as grid computing or utility computing. In the cloud computing environment, we are able to use the same all of hardware resources in the server and share information easily. In this paper, we aimed a study to apply e-learning part to cloud computing environment. For this purpose, we proposed an application of LMS and LCMS based e-learning in the cloud computing environment. So LMS including LCMS connected to data center of cloud computing.

  • The IBC (Intra-Body Communication) benefits from a wireless communication system for exchanging various kinds of digital information through wearable electronic devices and sensors. The IBC using the human body as the transmission channel allows wireless communication without the transmitting radio frequency waves to the air. This paper discusses the results of experiments on electrostatic coupling IBC based on FSK (Frequency Shift Keying) and 1 bit error correction. We implemented FSK communication and 1 bit error correction algorithm using the MCU boards and aluminum tape electrodes. The transmitter modulates digital data using 50% duty square wave as carrier signal and transmits data through human body. The receiver performs ADC (Analog to Digital Conversion) on carrier signal from human body. In order to figure out the frequency of carrier signal from ADC results, we applied zero-crossing algorithm which is used to detect the edge characteristic in computer vision. Experiment results shows that digital data modulated as square wave can be successfully transmitted through human body by applying the proposed architecture of a 1ch GPIO as a transmitter and 1ch ADC for as a receiver. Also, this paper proposes 1 bit error correction technique for reliable IBC. This technique performs error correction by utilizing the feature that carrier signal has 50% duty ratio. When 1 bit error correction technique is applied, the byte error rate at receiver side is improved around 3.5% compared to that not applied.

  • Based on simulation results and accompanying analysis, we suggest a thyristor-type ESD protection device structure suitable for implementation in standard CMOS processes to reduce the parasitic capacitances added to the input nodes, which is very important in CMOS RF ICs. We compare DC breakdown characteristics of the suggested device to those of a conventional NMOS protection device to show the benefits of using the suggested device for ESD protection. The characteristic improvements are demonstrated and the corresponding mechanisms are explained based on simulations. Structure dependencies are also examined to define the optimal structure. AC simulation results are introduced to estimate the magnitude of reduction in the added parasitic capacitance when using the suggested device for ESD protection. The analysis shows a possibility of reducing the added parasitic capacitance down to about 1/40 of that resulting with a conventional NMOS protection transistor, while maintaining robustness against ESD.

  • The IMS is an architectural control framework for delivering IP multimedia services such as voice, video, audio and data, the IMS supports not only the mobile communication system but also the existing wired and wireless network based on IP. The network that is integrated by the IMS needs policy-based network management protocol for managing the limited network resources to provide efficient multimedia service. The IMS use additional device called PDF for efficient resource management, but the PDF only uses diameter which is one of the network management protocol such as SNMP and COPS. Many devices use various protocol to manage the limited network resources. There is an algorithm using a variety of protocols such as Diameter, COPS and SNMP to handle the resources management efficiently. We also analyze the performance using the proposed algorithm in the implemented IMS environment.

  • Optical camera communication (OCC) is an extension of Visible Light Communication. Different from traditional visible light communication, optical camera communications is an almost no additional cost technology by taking the advantage of build-in camera in devices. It was became a candidate for communication protocol for IoT. Camera module can be easy attached to IoT device, because it is small and flexible. Furthermore almost smartphone equip one or two camera for both back and font side with high quality and resolution. It can be utilized for receiving the data from LED or positioning. Actually, OCC combines illumination and communication. It can supply communication for special areas or environment where do not allow Radio frequency such as hospital, airplane etc. There are many concept and experiment be proposed. In this paper we proposed utilizing Android smart-phone camera for receiver and introduce new approach in modulation scheme for LED at transmitter. It also show how Manchester coding can be used encode bits while at the same time being successfully decoded by Android smart-phone camera. We introduce new data frame format for easy decoded and can be achieve high bit rate. This format can be easy to adapt to performance limit of Android operator or embedded system.

  • It is necessary to eliminate the broad band noise whose frequency is in the range of several kHz to tens MHz generated from the AC power line to supply the power to electrical and electronic equipments. Because this kind of noise could damage or malfunction such equipments. To suppress those noises, some conventional devices such as a filter or surge suppressor have been used. However, they can not be isolated from the common-mode noise widely spreaded in all power line, which results in poor common-mode rejection performance. In this paper, we proposed a design method of shielded isolation transformer and a jumped circuit analysis model for shielded isolation transformer applicable to filtering common-mode noise as well as normal-mode noise. The analysis model has been verified as a suitable one for shielded isolation transformer through comparison of the simulation with experiment. In addition, it has been shown that the reduction performance for conducted noise of prototype 3 kVA shielded isolation transformer is superior to a unshielded isolation transformer.
