수정진동자 미세저울을 이용한 방식도막의 물 흡수 측정 (Measurement of Water Absorption in Anticorrosive Organic Coatings Using Quartz Crystal Microbalance (QCM))

  • The absorption of water into an anti-corrosive organic coating, such as alkyd and urethane resin coating, was investigated, using a quartz crystal microbalance (QCM). Anticorrosive properties of the coatings were also measured, by means of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The overall absorption of water in the coating is determined by the chemical nature of resin, and decreases with increasing thickness. The enhancement of anti-corrosive performance, through increase of coating thickness, was more remarkable in the case of the coating that hadlower equilibrium water absorption. The absorption kinetics curves were Fickian in nature. The EIS analysis confirmed that the resin, having lower equilibrium water absorption, shows higher anti-corrosive performan.

  • The catalyst layer of a proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell is a mixture of polymer, carbon, and platinum. The characteristics of the catalyst layer play critical role in determining the performance of the PEM fuel cell. This research investigates the role of catalyst layer composition using a Central Composite Design (CCD) experiment with two factors which are Nafion content and carbon loading while the platinum catalyst surface area is held constant. For each catalyst layer composition, polarization curves are measured to evaluate cell performance at common operating conditions, Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS), and Cyclic Voltammetry (CV) are then applied to investigate the cause of the observed variations in performance. The results show that both Nafion and carbon content significantly affect MEA performance. The ohmic resistance and active catalyst area of the cell do not correlate with catalyst layer composition, and observed variations in the cell resistance and active catalyst area produced changes in performance that were not significant relative to compositions of catalyst layers.

Design of a Fuel Cell Power Conditioning System for Online Diagnosis and Load Leveling

  • A fuel cell power conditioning system for online diagnosis and load leveling under the condition of varying load is developed in this study. The proposed system comprises a unidirectional boost converter and a bidirectional buck-boost converter with a battery. The system operates in two different modes. In normal mode, the bidirectional converter is utilized for load leveling; in diagnostic mode, it is utilized to control load voltage while the boost converter generates perturbation current to implement the online diagnosis function through in-situ electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The proposed method can perform EIS for a fuel cell under varying-load conditions with no influence on the load. The validity and feasibility of the proposed system are verified by experiments, and the design procedure of the proposed system is detailed.

  • 황산 용액에서 양극산화(anodization)에 의하여 생성되는 산화피막의 생성과정(growth kinetics)과 이 피막의 전기적 성질을 전기화학적 임피던스 측정법(electrochemical impedance spectroscopy)으로 조사하였다. 산화피막은 $Al_2O_3$로 점-결함 모형(point defect model)에 따라 성장하였으며, n-형 반도체의 전기적 성질을 보였다.

  • To evaluate anti-corrosion performance of high-frequency arc metal spray film in accordance with metal type and epoxy sealing coat application status, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) method was conducted in this study. As a result, in case of applying Al-Mg alloy metal spray film, it showed the best polarization resistance. In case of applying epoxy sealing coat, it showed increased polarization resistance of arc metal spray film. Through this experiment, it is judged that Al-Mg alloy arc metal spray film with epoxy sealing coat can increase the biggest anti-corrosion performance of high-frequency arc metal spray film on steel.

  • 본 연구에서는 연료전지나 배터리 및 슈퍼커패시터 등의 전기화학적 전력기기의 임피던스 모델링이 가능한 저가의 임피던스 분광시스템의 개발에 관해 제안한다. 제안된 시스템은 상용 DAQ Board (Data Acquisition Board)와 강력한 HMI(Human-Machine Interface)를 지원하는 Labview 소프트웨어를 이용하여 구성되었고 고가의 EIS (Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy) 장비를 대체하여 널리 사용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 또한, 시스템의 응답을 Lock-in Amplifier를 이용하여 측정함으로써 노이즈가 많은 환경에서도 정확한 측정이 가능하게 하였다. 제안된 시스템을 이용하여 Ballard Nexa 1.2kW PEM 연료전지 스택의 임피던스를 측정하였고, 이를 바탕으로 한 등가 임피던스 모델도 제안된다.

  • Phosphate based inhibitor is playing a decisive role in inhibiting the corrosion of steel rebar in chloride condition. We have used different amount of ammonium phosphate monobasic (APMB) as corrosion inhibitor in mortar with different amount of chloride ions. The compressive strength, flexural strength, open circuit potential (OCP), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), potentiodynamic polarization resistance (PPR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Raman spectroscopy were performed to access the effect of inhibitor on corrosion resistance. As the amount of inhibitor is increased, the compressive strength increased. The electrochemical results show that as the amount of inhibitor and chloride ions are increased, the total impedance and corrosion resistance of steel rebar increased attributed to the formation of the stable oxide films onto the steel rebar surface. It is suggested that APMB can work in high concentration of chloride ions present in concrete where phosphate ion helps in formation of stable and protective phosphate based oxide film.

  • Lightweight aggregates has a dry specific gravity of 2.0 or less, which is lower than natural aggregates. Lightweght aggregate is efficient for weight reduction but has low compressive strength. In this study, EIS(electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy) was used to confirm the ITZ(Interfacial Transition Zone) between the lightweight aggregate and cement paste according to the coated of blast furnace slag powder. As a result of EIS measurement, the correlation between ITZ characteristics and compressive strength was determined. The phase angle of EIS was different depending on the blast furnace slag powder coated of the lightweight aggregate. The surface-cotead lightweight aggregate was improved and the ITZ was strengthened.

  • Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS)를 이용하여 에폭시 수지 조성물이 코팅된 알루미늄 패드의 부식거동을 연구하였다. 에폭시 수지 조성물은 반도체 패키지 봉지용으로써 80 wt%의 충전재를 포함하고 있으며, $100^{\circ}C$의 끊는 가혹 조건에서 탈이온수 (deionized water)를 사용하여 에폭시 조성들에 침투시켰다. 흡습이 진행되면서 에폭시 조성물 및 알루미늄/에폭시 계면에서의 저항 감소와 커패시턴스 증가가 관찰되었으며 , 약 170 시간까지는 물분자와 유기물로부터 발생된 이온이 에폭시 조성물에 포화되고, 그 이후에는 계면에 침투하여 금속의 부식을 발생시키는 것을 알 수 있었다. 수분 흡습에 따른 에폭시 조성물/금속간의 접착강도 측정으로부터 계면에 물분자 및 이온이 포화됨에 따라 접착강도가 감소하는 것을 예상할 수 있었으며, 반도체 패키지용 에폭시 수지 조성물에 의한 알루미늄 전극의 부식을 방지하기 위해서는 충전재의 함량증가가 필수적이라는 것을 알 수 있었다.

A Facile Electrochemical Fabrication of Reduced Graphene Oxide-Modified Glassy Carbon Electrode for Simultaneous Detection of Dopamine, Ascorbic Acid, and Uric Acid

  • This paper describes the simple fabrication of an electrode modified with electrochemically reduced graphene oxide (ERGO) for the simultaneous electrocatalytic detection of dopamine (DA), ascorbic acid (AA), and uric acid (UA). ERGO was formed on a glassy carbon (GC) electrode by the reduction of graphene oxide (GO) using linear sweep voltammetry. The ERGO/GC electrode was formed by subjecting a GO solution ($1mg\;mL^{-1}$ in 0.25 M NaCl) to a linear scan from 0 V to -1.4 V at a scan rate of $20mVs^{-1}$. The ERGO/GC electrode was characterized by Raman spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, contact angle measurements, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and cyclic voltammetry. The electrochemical performance of the ERGO/GC electrode with respect to the detection of DA, AA, and UA in 0.1 M PBS (pH 7.4) was investigated by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and amperometry. The ERGO/GC electrode exhibited three well-separated voltammetric peaks and increased oxidation currents during the DPV measurements, thus allowing for the simultaneous and individual detection of DA, AA, and UA. The detection limits for DA, AA, and UA were found to be 0.46, 77, and $0.31{\mu}M$ respectively, using the amperometric i-t curve technique, with the S/N ratio being 3.
