오존처리수의 전기응집처리 연구 (Study of Wastewater Treatment in the Continuous Electro-Coagulation Plug Flow Reactor after Ozone Treatment)

  • The water treatment by electrochemical method was performed to increase the yield of production. Continuous plug flow reactor was operated to treat poultry and domestic wastewaters. Experimental results were compared with experimental results of the wastewater treatment by chemical coagulation, they were increased over 10% in the removal efficiency of COD and the production rate of sludge was reduced by 30%. Ozone utilized to degrade or change the organic chemical structures, which removal efficiency increased to 20% in the electro-coagulation reactor. Economic evaluation was performed to estimate total cost of electro-coagulation reactor in comparison with that of chemical coagulation method. The total cost to treat 1000 ton/day of domestic wastewater was reduced by 50%.

Electro-responsive Transdermal Drug Release of MWCNT/PVA Nanocomposite Hydrogels

  • Multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT)/poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) nanocomposite hydrogels were prepared by freezingthawing method for the electro-responsive transdermal drug delivery. MWCNTs were used as the functional ingredient to improve both mechanical and electrical properties of MWCNT/PVA nanocomposite hydrogels. The morphology of nanocomposites revealed the uniform distribution of MWCNTs and the good interfacial contact. The compression moduli of hydrogel matrices increased greatly from 40 to 1500 kPa by forming MWCNT/PVA nanocomposites. The swelling ratio of MWCNT/PVA nanocomposites decreased as the content of MWCNTs increased under no electric voltage applied. However, the swelling ratio of MWCNT/PVA nanocomposites increased as the content of MWCNTs increased under electric voltage applied and the applied electric voltage increased. The drug was released in the electro-responsive manner through the skin due to the electro-sensitive swelling characteristics of MWCNT/PVA nanocomposite hydrogels.

  • 다중벽 탄소 나노튜브(Carbon nanotube, MWNTs)의 우수한 전기적 기계적 특성과 폴리우레탄의 우수한 기계적 물성을 이용하여 우수한 전기 전도성 복합체를 제조하기 위하여 말단기가 polyurethane로 기능화 된 탄소 나노튜브(PU-g-MWNTs)를 제조하였다. 말단기에 형성된 폴리우레탄과 고분자 메트릭스 간의 상용성으로 인한 계면 접합력으로 인해 기능화된 CNT 복합체 기능화 되지 않은 CNT에 비해 우수한 분산성을 나타내었다. PU-g-MWNT/PU 복합체의 전기 전도성을 PU-g-MWNT의 농도에 따라 측정하였으며 percolation threshold 이론에 의해 해석하였다. 그 결과 PU-g-MWNT/PU 복합체의 전기전도성은 임계농도 0.78 wt%과 임계지수 0.945를 가짐을 확인하였다.

자동차 냉각기 호스용 고무의 전기화학적 복합노화시험 (An Electro-chemical Combined-stress Degradation Test of Rubber for Automotive Radiator Hoses)

  • Coolant rubber hoses for automotive radiators under thermal and mechanical loadings can be degraded and thus failed due to the influences of the locally formed electricity. In this study, an advanced test method was developed to simulate the failure problem of the rubber hose. For carbon black filled EPDM (ethylene-propylene dine monomer) rubber used as a radiator hose material the ageing behaviors by the electro-chemical stresses combined with a tensile strain were analyzed. As the tensile strain increased, the current of the rubber specimen reduced indicating an increase of the internal defects and electrical resistance of the rubber specimen. Elongation at break and IRHD hardness rapidly decreased with increasing the ageing time. Both electro-chemical stress and mechanical tensile stress clearly accelerated the degradation of EPDM rubber.

  • In this paper, arbitrary pulse power for electro chemical etching, which manufactures the groove of fluid dynamic bearing and aero dynamic bearing, is presented. For high precision manufacture, we generally use high precision CNC machine. However, this case has the disadvantage that cost is very expensive and bur due to bites of tool can be generated. So most of companies are interested in the method of electro chemical etching. But for more precision results, it is important to decision the parameters of electrical conditions, such as currents and frequency. We designed and made the arbitrary pulse power system easy to input the parameters for optimal conditions. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the system strategy proposed for the high precision manufacture.

전기화학적 에칭을 이용한 텅스텐 미세 탐침 가공 (Fabrication of Tungsten Probe using Electro-Chemical Etching)

  • Tungsten probe is the most important part of a probe card, which is widely used for the performance test of wafer chips. Electro chemical etching becomes an exclusive choice for mass production of the tungsten probes. In the mass production, not only the shape of the probe but also the shape distribution of machined probes is important. A new method is proposed for the mass production of the tungsten probes. Tungsten wires are separated by a distance, and dipped into electrolyte. The dipping rate is controlled to shape the probes. Several experimental tests are performed to study the machining characteristics. From the test results, machining parameters including electrical conditions and anode position showed significant influences on the shape, repeatability, precision and quality of sharp tips.

  • Preliminary studies were conducted to develop a dimensionally stable anode (DSA)electrode prepared by reactive sputtering method. The microstructure, surface morphology and electrochemical properties of iridium oxide $(IrO_2)$ coatings synthesized by unbalanced magnetron sputtering (UBMS) and conventional DSA electrode were compared. In addition, the possibilities of $IrO_2$ films synthesized by UMB on a real DSA electrode were investigated by electro-chemical application test. The degree of non-stoichiometry and surface area were closely related to the electro-chemical activity of the $IrO_2$ electrode. The feasibility of making a DSA electrode prepared by PVD technique was demonstrated through the present work.

전기전도성 이방성 복합재료 방전가공의 수치 해석 (Numerical Analysis of the Electro-discharge Machining Process of a Conductive Anisotropic Composite)

  • 전기전도성 이방성 복합재료의 방전가공에 대하여 비정상상태 수식모델을 세우고 갤러킨의 유한요소법으로 해를 구하였다. 피삭재의 온도 분포와 분화구의 모양 및 공작물 제거 속도를 공정 매개변수에 관하여 구득하였다. 계산의 정확도와 효율을 위하여 앞선 연구에서 최적치로 선정된 $12{\times}12$ 요소의 비규칙 체눈을 사용하였다. 알루미나/티타늄 카바이드 복합재료의 물성을 재료의 물성으로 선정하였고 51.4 V의 전압과 7 A의 전류를 갖는 전력을 적용하였으며 제거 효율을 10%로 전열 이방성 계수를 2와 3으로 가정하였다. 불꽃이 일어나면서 피삭재는 즉시 녹기 시작하였고 열적 손상 영역이 형성되었다. 또한 시간이 흘러감에 따라서 분화구의 경계가 이동하는 것이 확인되었다. 반경 방향과 축 방향의 열전도도가 독립적으로 커지면 온도분포와 분화구의 모양이 각각 반경 방향과 축 방향으로 이동하였다. 공작물 제거 속도는 축 방향의 열전도도보다 반경 방향의 열전도도가 증가할 때 더욱 커지는 것으로 나타났다.

Fabrication and Electro-photolysis Property of Carbon Nanotubes/Titanium Composite Photocatalysts for Methylene Blue

  • In this study, we have studied on improved performance of carbon nanotubes/titanium (CNT/TiO2) structure electrode for methylene blue (MB). The composite electrodes consisting of CNTs and a titanium oxide matrix with phenol resin binder was fabricated with a mixture method. The chemical and morphological structure of CNT/Ti$O_2$ composites were characterized by means of BET surface area, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), UV-Vis absorption technique, Raman spectroscopy and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX). The electrode showed a remarkably enhanced performance for MB oxidation under UV illumination with or without electro-chemical reaction (ECR). Such a remarkably improved performance of the CNT/Ti$O_2$ structure electrode might be due to the enhanced MB oxidation by electro- and photo-generated electrons and holes in the CNTs and Ti$O_2$ under UV illumination with or without ECR.
