Computer-based Automated System for Determining the Characteristics, Losses and Efficiency of Separately Excited DC Motors

  • This paper provides essential information on research completed with the aim to develop a 'dc motor test and analysis platform' which can be used to provide dc motor characteristics, calculate losses and efficiency, and also work as a dc motor speed controller. A user can test a given dc motor for these analyses by practicing different conventional methods, but, the concept discussed in this paper, reveals how intelligent integration of all these analyses can be done with a single user friendly automated setup. Integration has been accomplished by a technique that can accommodate all types of dc motors with different ratings at various loading conditions. However, experimentally measured results of a 0.5HP separately excited dc motor using the discussed scheme are presented in the paper. Also, a comparison of the methodology of this system with conventional techniques has also been elaborated on to show the effectiveness of the system.

  • Biped robot requires that an energy source and a control part should be installed on the body to realize active system. So, we choose the DC motor having high torque in compact size in this study. In the DC motor serve system, we choose power amplifier with analog configuration, developed the module combined the controller and the driver. We applied this module to robot actuator and studied the response characteristics in an action and a return. Main controller with serve system, loading PIC micro controller, can be load on the robot with light weight.

  • A method to control the speed of DC motor with one-chip microprocessor PIC using PWM is discussed in this paper. This thesis deals with the DC motor speed control for electric bicycles which may be used as an alternative means of transformation in the future. We tried to design a stable system for controlling the speed of DC motor and materialized an electric bicycle loading this system. Now we are on the way to find out the problems this system has and work out the solutions.

  • A novel and simple method of designing the current feedback loop for the velocity controller of an armature controlled dc servo motor is presented. Instead of constructing the usual tight current feedback loop, a loose current feedback loop is suggested in this paper. More specifically, the armature current is not limited to a fixed constant value, but instead the upper bound value is allowed to be variable along with the present motor speed. The control system designed in this manner shows that the motor under control is robust to a wide range of loading conditions and yields a more rapid transient characteristics which is verified experimentally by applying the method in the design of the controller for an Industrial robot.

  • This paper presents a methodology of the technique for controlling DC motor drive by implementation of 2-quadrant operating mode which can ensure the torque controlling and speed with response time less than 2 seconds at all loading conditions. By implementation of BRM technique, energy is fed with definite values of BRM 256 bits, with different patterns of high accuracy, and fixing scan time at 0.667 ms, the ripple is less than 1%, thus high efficiency can be achieved, from the consequence of the accuracy of energy feeding at low current. The stability of the whole system can be determined from circle criterion by root locus method . The instant reverse direction of rotation can be done by decreasing the energy to the lowest level while motor is running with no load and variable load at the speed about 100-120 rpm and 50-60 rpm.

  • 현재 수없이 많은 가전제품이나 IT 부품 등에서 저전력 DC모터를 적용시켜서 회전력을 가해야 하는 곳에는, 어느 때나 어느 곳에서나 적응적인 적용이 가능한 기술이 필요함으로써, 비안정 멀티바이브레이터를 이용한 저전력 아이디어 제품을 실험적으로 개발하였다. 모터구동이 일반적으로 초기 구동시에 많은 전력을 소모하며, 정상 동작시에 저전력 동작을 이루어내는 구동원리를 이용하여, 전원 자체를 펄스 형태로 공급하여 저전력 동작을 구현하여. AC모터이든지 DC모터이든지 어느 것이든지 적용 가능한 기술실험 동작 결과를 증명하였다.

  • 직립보행로봇은 동적인 시스템 구현을 위해 에너지원과 제어장치부가 로봇에 탑재되어야 한다. 때문에 본 연구에서는 소형에서 높은 기동 토크를 얻을 수 있는 직류전동기를 선택하였다. 직류전동기 서보시스템에는 아날로그 처리방식의 파워앰프를 이용하여, 제어기와 구동기가 일체화된 하나의 모들로 개발하였다. 이를 로봇액추에이터에 적용하고 동작과 복귀시의 응답특성을 연구하였다. 주 제어부는 PIC(Micro controller)를 채용하여 서보시스템과 함께 소형경량으로 로봇에 탑재할 수 있다.

  • This paper describes the BLDC motor which is applicated for a top front loading domestic washing machine. This motor is adopted direct drive washing machine without gear-belt-pulley system. Because gear box is removed, machine volume and noise are reduced. Moreover mechanical troubles in gear box are removed. Realization of variable speed region through of PWM control and high speed is able to efficient washing and spinning.

  • A brushless direct current (BLDC) motor electronically performs rectification without brushes. It therefore does not have the typical mechanical friction contacts between the brushes and commutators. The BLDC motor has the advantages of high speed, low noise, and electronic noise reduction in addition to high durability and reliability. Therefore, it is mainly used in electric vehicles and electric equipment. However, iron loss and copper loss due to long-term use induce temperature increases in the motor, which reduces its performance and life. The temperatures of the stator and permanent magnet are predicted to be $62.3^{\circ}C$ and $32.2^{\circ}C$, respectively. This study shows the enhanced temperature distribution in a 600 W BLDC motor using unsteady and three-dimensional (3D) numerical investigations validated with experimental data.

  • This paper presents a study on the variable structure PI(proportional and integrate) control which is insensible to the variation of parameters or external disturbance for driving DC motor. In the presented variable structure PI control (VSPIC), the sliding mode control was used at the below of 4000 rpm and PI control also used at the above of 4000 rpm with no load. In other way, the PI control was used at the below of 4000 rpm and the sliding mode control at the above of 4000 rpm with some loading, and then the output waveform following the variation of load was measured. intel 8031 microcomputer unit and IBM PC was combined to form the full system and the speed control was performed with it. The experimental result of the fast response to speed was more improve than it was open loop state. For load varing, the sliding mode insensible to external disturbance was applied and the improved response was obtained.
