In a low-voltage distribution system, the molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) is a widely used device to protect loads by interrupting over-current; however the hot gas generated from the arc discharge in the interrupting process depletes the dielectric recovery strength between electrodes and leads to re-ignition after current-zero. Even though the circuit breaker is ordinarily tripped and successfully interrupts the over-current, the re-ignition causes the over-current to flow to the load again, which carries over the failure interruption. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the dielectric recovery process and the dielectric recovery voltage of the MCCB. To determine these characteristics, a measuring system comprised of the experimental circuit and source is implemented to apply controllable recovery voltage and over-current. By changing the controllable recovery voltage, in this work, re-ignition is driven repeatedly to obtain the dielectric recovery voltage V-t curve, which is used to analyze the dielectric recovery strength of the MCCB. A measuring system and an evaluation technique for the dielectric recovery strength of the MCCB are described. By using this system and method, the measurement to find out the dielectric recovery characteristics after current-zero for ready-made products is done and it is confirmed that which internal structure of the MCCB affects the dielectric recovery characteristics.
The dielectric layers in AC plasma display panel(AC PDP) are essential to the discharge cell structure, because they protect metal electrodes from sputtering by positive ion and from a sheath of wall charges which are essential to memory function of AC PDP. Furthermore, this layer should be transparent because the visible light must pass through the layer. In this paper, the dielectric breakdown strength and transparency of the dielectric layer on the discharge electrodes are studied. The variables in this test are the dielectric layer thickness, dielectric firing condition, gas pressure, species of gas and so on.

This paper describes the dielectric analysis of several insulators for home appliances. The dielectric characteristics of ABS(acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) were tested in relative permittivity, dielectric loss($tan{\delta}$) and specific resistance and compared with those of the other 4 insulators of PE(polyethylene) series. As a result, the relative permittivity of only the ABS slightly decreased with temperature. In the case of the tan6, the ABS showed higher dielectric loss than the other insulators but more excellent thermal performance. In addition, its changing pattern in specific resistance was very similar to that in $tan{\delta}$.

In order to investigate the optimum conditions for the effective ozone formation in a dielectric barrier discharge, measurements of ozone concentration were carried out for various conditions such as the gap length, the dielectric material and the operating gas. It was found that the optimum discharge conditions differed exceedingly in the types of operating gases and dielectric materials. In dry air, dielectric material with low dielectric constant and thermal conductivity, which might contribute to the restriction of the gas temperature rise in the discharge region, proved effective in obtaining both high ozone yield and concentration. The optimum gap length was considered to be in the range of 600-800 mm. In oxygen, using a quartz glass disk as a dielectric material, the required condition to obtain the high ozone yield and concentration was expanded.

Dielectric loss tangent and ac dielectric strength of GFRP (Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastics, G-10)was investigated as parameters of mechanical and thermal stresses, in order to study the basic dielectrical characteristics of composite insulating materials. The dielectric loss tangent was increased and the ac dielectric strength was decreased with increase in the mechanical stresses beyond the mechanical yield point on account of fiber-matrix debonding, but the dielectric constant was not varied sigificantly. the dielectric strength of G-10 was about 2 MV/cm and the dielectric constant was about 4.8.

Epoxy/micro-sized alumina composite was prepared, and the effects of alumina content on the dielectric properties were investigated in order to develop an insulation material for gas-insulated switchgears (GIS). Nano-sized alumina (average particle size: 30 nm) was also incorporated into the epoxy/micro-sized alumina composite. Dielectric tests were carried out in ASTM D 150, and capacitance (Cp) and dielectric loss (tanδ) were measured. The dielectric constant increased with increasing alumina content in the epoxy/micro-alumina system and the epoxy/micro-alumina/nano-alumina system. As 1,3-diglycidyl glyceryl ether (DGE) content increased, the dielectric constant decreased and dielectric loss increased. This ocurred as a result of the weak electric field enhancement due to homogeneous dispersion of micro- and nano-sized alumina particles in an epoxy composite.
The polymer nano composite possess good priority recently for engineering applications. Especially the electrical insulating materials attract the high performance of nano composites. In this work the ballmill synthesiation process of nano sized Alumina ($Al_2O_3$), the preparation of new nano composite material with an content of enamel and synthesized Alumina as 1wt%, 3wt% and 5wt%. Experimental investigation has been carried out for the prepared nano composites materials with respect to dielectric parameter measurements such as dielectric loss (tan ${\delta}$), dielectric constant (${\varepsilon}$), dielectric strength under various temperature. The partial discharge level also measured for all the samples and the PD inception voltage is also observed and compared. Weight loss of the material has been analyzed through TGA. It has been experimentally proved that 3wt% of Alumina nano filler added enamel has significant improvement in the dielectric and thermal properties.

In this work, the complex permittivity of epoxy resins is measured. Epoxy resins, epoxy with micro size fillers and epoxy with micro+nano alumina composites have been evaluated for dielectric properties according to frequency variation. The dielectric spectroscopy measurement and analyses are carried out in the frequency range of $10^{-2}Hz$ to 1MHz and constant to room temperature. The results of dielectric loss suggest that significant improvement in the electrical performance can be expected by using samples containing nano and micro fillers mixture when compared to materials containing only microfillers. As the result, we verified the specific characteristics of dielectric permittivity and dielectric loss namely, relative permittivity become low with improving dispersibility of nano+micro mixture composites and become rise with agglomerate of nano particles.
We have investigated the dielectric characteristics of palmitic acid(PA), stearic acid (SA) and arachidic acid(AA) Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) films because these fatty acid systems have a same hydrophilic group and a different hydrophobic one (alkyl chain length). In this work. fatty acid systems were used as LB films and the status of the deposited films was confirmed by evaluating the transfer ratio. the UV absorption and the capacitance. Also, the dielectric characteristics such as the frequency-capacitance characteristics and the dielectric dispersion and absorption characteristics of PA, SA and AA through-plane were measured. The relative dielectric constants of PA, SA and AA LB films were about $2.6\sim4.6$, $2.4\sim4.1$ and $2.2\sim3.8$, respectively. That is, the relative dielectric constants were decreased in proportion to the chain length of methylene group. And, the dielectric dispersion and absorption of each fatty acid LB films have arisen from spontaneous polarization of dipole polarization in the range of $10^4\sim10^5[Hz]$.
