Reduction of Insulation thickness for EHV XLPE power cable (초고압 XLPE 전력케이블 절연두께 저감화)

  • The manufacturing technology of XLPE power cable ( e.g. gas curing, triple common extrusion, clean room, super-clean compound, etc.) had been developed in 1960's and the design parameter of insulation thickness for EHV XLPE power cable at present was determined in 1960's. But, the quality of XLPE power cable has been improved up to now. The re-evaluation of design parameter for insulation thickness reductions is required and so we performed weibull plotting test using model cable. This paper describes the evaluation details of the insulation characteristics according to weibull plotting test.

  • At present, in case of circular conductor, various water blocking methods are in use for power cable. But, in case the shape of the conductor is sector shaped, segment conductor it was very difficult to make the water blocking segment conductor. This paper describes the developement details of the water blocking segment conductor applied with swellable powder.

  • There are over 30[%] of electric fires in Korea happened at wire or wiring devices. For its prevention many safety devices are set up electric equipments. These safety devices are not working in a rated current's condition of electric equipment. But when wire is partially disconnected, electric fire is able to be happened even though current is smaller than a rated current value. This paper studied thermal characteristics and fire ability when wire in plug is partially disconnected. The experiment is progressed a method that inner wire of plug is partially disconnected and after that current that is less than a rated current is flowed. As the result, heating occurred in near of partially disconnected wire makes that outer sheath is melted, plug cover is carbonized, and even sometimes wire is fused. And results of analysis of thermal image of partially disconnected wire happened in plug, it shows a difference to heating distribution and temperature appeared surface of plug depend on a progress of a partially disconnected wire.

  • Taihan Electric Wire Co. developed accessories(PJ, EB-G, EB-A, EB-O) for 345kV XLPE $1C{\times}600mm^2$ cable as a small size conductor cable, after installed 345kV XLPE $1C{\times}600mm^2$ cable, PJ and EB-G on Youngseo${\sim}$Youngdeungpo project KEPCO planed in 2003. All of 345kV XLPE $1C{\times}600mm^2$ cable Accessories are finished the type tests successfully. Straight joint as a Prefabricated Joint(PJ) had shorter the days of assembling than those of TMJ used on the 154kV XLPE Cable. Particularly, the use of clean booth to prevent the dusts and the penetration of water also had made the quality of jointing improved.

  • 현재 전세계적으로 170kV급 이하의 초고압 지중케이블 접속함으로 기존의 현장몰드방식의 TMJ(Tape Molded Joint)와 부품조립방식의 PJ(Prefabricated Joint)보다 조립시간이 짧고 작업자의 숙련도가 높지 않아 경제적이며, 유지보수에 장점을 가진 고무몰드 접속함(PMJ)이 채용되고 있으며, 이러한 추세는 적용 전압급이 점차 상승하면서 230kV급까지 그 비중이 늘어나고 있는 경향을 보이고 있다. 당사에서는 이러한 추세에 발맞추어 154kV급 고무몰드접속함의 개발 당시의 Silicone의 기초물성시험 DATA 획득, 고무몰드 UNIT 및 금형 설계 기술 확립과 접속 공법 개발의 경험을 바탕으로 230kV급 고무몰드접속함의 개발에 성공하였다.

  • Due to advancement of industrialization, the flue gas from the combustion of industrial factories and various means of transportation have polluted air. Therefore, it is necessary to develop new techniques of air purification. In order to produce a more effective reactor, simulation were conducted using the Flux-II D program. The condition of the simulation were as follows: The height of the plate electrode was 0 mm or 2 mm higher than that of the wire electrode. The distance between the electrodes was 12 mm, and the diameter of the wire electrode was 0.5 mm or 1.0 mm. The results of the electric potential and electric field simulations show that pollutants will be more effectively removed due to the dielectric strength between wire electrode and plate electrode which was strong, and wire electrodes which were concentrated in a high electric field.

  • Experiments have been conducted to clarify flame spread behavior over electrical wire near the end of wire with applied AC electric fields. It is seen that the flame spread behavior near the end of wire with applied AC electric fields are quite different from that in temporally linearly-increasing flame position. The flame spread behavior can be categorized into three regimes based on the relevance of flame shape and the slanted direction of spread flame to spread rate. Detailed explanations on the characteristics are made through thermal balance mechanism. Also, the effect of drop of molten PE and fuel vapor-jet in flame spread is also discussed.

  • It has been reported frequently that damage to underground electric power cable was brought about, due to attack by Insect such as termite (white-ant) and by rodent such as rat, in tropical and semitropical areas. Among these cable damages, we are likely to describe the damage to cable by termites as causing the severe trouble in cable operation and to solve this trouble with termite-proof method regarded as the most effective and economical one. This report covers our experiences of manufacturing the cable for anti-termite purpose and its intrinsic properties in cable operation.

Reduction Characteristics of Electromagnetic Penetration through Narrow Slots in Conducting Screen by Loading Parallel Wire Arrays

  • This paper presents a method of reducing penetration of penetrated electromagnetic fields through a narrow slot with parallel wire arrays in a planar conducting screen of infinite extent. An integral equation for the aperture electric field on the narrow slot is derived and solved by applying Galerkin's method of moments. When a plane wave is excited to the narrow slot, the aperture electric field is easily controlled by the parallel wire arrays connected on the slot and therefore the magnitude of the penetrated electric field is effectively reduced by loading the parallel wire arrays. The numerical results show that the magnitude of the penetrated electromagnetic field can be effectively reduced by installing the parallel wire arrays on the slot. The results of the calculated penetration electric fields are in good agreement with that of the measured results.

  • The lower voltage distribution box of service wire has been usually employed to supply an electric power to the consumers through low voltage overhead line. Now-a-days, electric shock accident at the distribution box of service wire installed in the seashore areas has been often occurred. The reason is mainly due to the electric leakage in the distribution box of service wire. This paper described insulation breakdown mechanism of distribution box of service wire, analysis of electric shock path and safety countermeasure of distribution box of service wire.
