  • The purpose of the study is to explore how parenting attitudes, ego resilience, and care affects adolescents' adjustment to school so as to provide a necessary basic guideline needed to seek various intervention methods. To achieve this end, the study referred to the 2014 Annual Report of the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey. By using both SPSS 19.0 and AMOS 19.0, the study yielded the following results. First, the study showed that parenting attitudes, ego resilience, care, and school adjustment all have a positive correlation. Second, by conducting path analysis in order to verify the mediating effect of ego resilience and care with regards to the relationship between parenting attitudes and school adjustment, the direct influence that parenting attitudes had on school adaptation was shown to be relevant. Third, adolescents' ego resilience and care have a partial mediating effect on the relationship between parenting attitudes and school adaptation. Therefore, together with intervention in actual school settings, assessing various factors that would aid the recovery of adolescents' characters and pursuing a positive reinforcement of character by finding protective factors would enable this study to be used as a basic guideline that would prevent adolescents' maladjustment to school and social deviance as well as aid the growth of their characters.

  • This study examines the relationships among ego resilience, empathic ability, and interpersonal relationship ability in nursing students. Data were collected through a self-reported questionnaire from November 2 to December 11, 2015. The subjects consisted of 299 nursing students who were selected using a convenience sampling method. Stepwise multiple regression revealed that ego resilience (${\beta}=.488$, p<.001) and empathic ability (${\beta}=.378$, p<.001) were significant predictors and accounted for 47.2% of interpersonal relationship ability. It is meaningful that ego resilience affects interpersonal relationship ability. Therefore, ego resilience and empathic ability need to be increased by efficient management and intervention to facilitate interpersonal relationship ability in nursing students.

Thus, in order to achieve the objectives of this study, 403 students were verified through one-way ANOVA and correlation analysis and stepwise multiple regression analysis, which resulted in the following conclusions: The higher the level of intrinsic motivation and ego resilience, the higher the level of the grit sub-factors. Self-determination motivation and ego resilience that affect grit the most are found to be intrinsic motivation. Next came positive thinking, emotion regulation, problem solving and identified motivation factors. The results of this study suggest the importance of dealing with self-determination motivation and ego resilience affecting grit, and put forward the limitations of the study and future directions of research.

This study used data from 183 nursing college students who experienced clinical practice at a college located in G city of Korea. Clinical competency was positively correlated with ego-resilience (r = .446, p <.000), major satisfaction (r = .439, p <.000). The factors influencing clinical competency were ego - resilience and major satisfaction, and explanatory power was 29.1%. Based on the above results, it is necessary to improve the convergence education program and diversify the teaching and learning methods to improve the major satisfaction, ego - resilience and clinical competency of nursing students.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to analyze job stress, ego-resilience, and results of the impact of event scale in order to verify the actual job stress of firefighters and provide baseline data for developing resolution programs. Methods: Data were collected via e-mail from 270 firefighters working at 119 safety centers and firehouses in the regions of Gyeonggi, Chungcheong, Busan, and Gyeongsang-do between the $1^{st}$ and $30^{th}$ of July, 2017. Results: Regarding gender differences in job stress, women ($2.16{\pm}0.65$) showed statistically significant job stress compared to men ($1.93{\pm}0.57$). As for the results of the incident impact of event scale statistically significant differences were observed (p=.001), and ego-resilience in men ($4.15{\pm}0.54$) was significantly higher than that in women ($3.79{\pm}0.75$) (p=.006). Depending on the work period, there were statistically significant differences (p=.000) in job stress, ego-resilience (p=.002), and impact of event scale (p=.000). Conclusion: Since job stress, ego-resilience, and results of the impact of event scale were closely related to dispatch frequency and work period of the firefighters, detailed and continuous stress management programs that consider these factors need to be developed.

Methods : A total 4508(2036 males and 2472 females) middle and high school students in Gwang-ju metropolitan city were included in this study. Subjects were asked to complete a self-reported questionnaire, including Ego-Resilience(ER) scale, Beck Depression Inventory(BDI), Beck Anxiety Inventory(BAI), Self-Esteem Scale(SES), 15 items in Korean-Youth Self Report(K-YSR) to measure conduct problems and demographic variables. Subjects were classified into three high, intermediate and low ER group according to total ER scale scores. Results : Total ER scores was positively correlated with total SES scores and negatively correlated with total BDI, BAI, and conduct problem scores. Using analysis ANOVA(analysis and variance) and post hoc test, significant mean differences in BDI, BAI, SES and conduct problem scores were observed among the three groups. High ER group showed that SES scores were significantly higher and BDI, BAI and conduct problem scores were significantly lower than that observed in middle and lower ER group. Using multiple regression analysis, the results showed that depression, low self-esteem were significant factors affecting ego-resilience in adolescents. Conclusion : Our findings indicate that depression, anxiety, behavioral problem such as conduct problems and low self-esteem are associated with low ego-resilience.
