Naval ship maintenance generally produces various issues for effective maintenance methods and procedures, because they have been composed by numerous modules and systems, and manual-oriented maintenance needed well-trained technicians who always busy to do many other works. In this paper, we adapt SNA scheme to the service procedure and trends of ROK naval ships' equipments. Various SNA algorithms are deployed which show lots of operating options, and we show analysis results that have enough potential improvement points for the maintainers.
The need for maintenance of bridge infrastructure is increasing due to aging, and the cost of maintaining the infrastructure must be calculated for effective budget distribution. Therefore, in this study, representative defects according to bridge superstructure type are derived to calculate the cost for each repair method. First of all, the representative bridges, PSCI girder bridge, Rahmen bridge, Steel box girder bridge, and RC slab bridge, were selected as superstructures using BMS data, and repair methods for defects were presented. In addition, the cost of the repair method by superstructure type was compared. This result is expected to predict total maintenance costs in consideration of the maintenance cycle.
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to understand the practices of the dental implant maintenance care according to knowledge and attitude toward dental implant in the dental service consumers. Methods: T-test, ANOVA, and cross tabulation were carried out to understand the knowledge and attitude toward the dental implant, the experiences of the treatments, and the practices of their maintenance care depending on the general characteristics and the oral-health education experience. The collected data were analyzed using by SPSS Windows Program 23.0. Results: The actual state of the implant maintenance care was revealed to be high in the use of oral care products with 83.9% and in the professional maintenance care with 86.0%. In terms of the implant-related experiences, the participation and the participation frequency in the professional maintenance care were resulted to be higher especially in those with more cases of surgical procedures and in those with more failure experiences. Examining the practices of management according to knowledge and attitude toward dental implant, the higher in knowledge and attitude led to the higher uses of oral care products. The periodically professional maintenance care was indicated to be received even if being taken high management cost. Conclusions: Effective education methods and programs are necessary to be developed and executed so that information and knowledge can lead the correct practices in the dental service consumers.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationships among network centrality, psychological well-being (PWBS), and intention to exercise maintenance in participants of an aquatic exercise program. Methods: Using a single-experimental design, 17 osteoarthritis patients participated in an aquatic exercise program. The questionnaire to connect the network of members was used to peer nomination by Moreno (1953). Data were analyzed with the UCINET using centrality (degree, closeness, betweenness) and SPSS using descriptive statistics, wilcoxon signed ranked test, and spearman's rho. Results: Closeness centrality, PWBS, and intention to exercise maintenance were significantly different between 4 weeks and 8 weeks. At 4 weeks, PWBS was positively correlated with closeness centrality. Intention to exercise maintenance was positively correlated with degree, closeness, and betweenness centrality. At 8 weeks, PWBS was positively correlated with closeness centrality. Intention to exercise maintenance was positively correlated with closeness centrality. Conclusion: The aquatic exercise program can be effective in increasing closeness centrality, psychological well-being, and intention to exercise maintenance. This was the first study attempted to analyze construction of member relationships in osteoarthritis patients participating an exercise program by using social network analysis.
The use of the gas turbine for power supply is increasing recently. Accordingly, the operation and maintenance cost of the gas turbine is gradually increasing and the various efforts to cut the cost are needed. For an operation and maintenance cost saving of the gas turbine, reductions of the new purchasing charge and the reproduction repair cost of the hot gas parts are required through more effective operation and life management methods for the hot gas parts. The hot gas parts are the main parts of the gas turbine and they are replaced with the periodic. In this research, efficient operation and life management methods for the hot gas parts were presented with the cases. The methods were analyzed and verified based on real data and the cases for improving a lifetime were utilized in the field.
This paper presents a new windows application based on 3-D graphics and Text-To-Speech (TTS) for effective management of substation equipment. When problems in a power system occur, inexperienced power system operators may have difficulty in understanding the situation as well as finding suitable countermeasures quickly. This paper addresses an effective scheme to visualizing power system equipment under normal and abnormal conditions using 3-D graphics and animations. In addition, the state variations and the order of maintenance priority of substation equipment are represented by TTS and intuitive methods. The proposed system can help power system operators to more quickly understand the state of power system equipment, and it can provide operators with the suitable countermeasures for minimizing damage caused by equipment problems.
Purpose: In this paper, we propose the output model of the optimal inventory requirements of the Maintenance Float (M/F). Weapon systems were modernized and increased costs. Thus, the complexity increases with. Alternatives to achieve the goal of availability of weapon systems and to reduce life-cycle cost are required. Especially, securing spare parts is more effective than adding the amount of equipment or maintenance facilities to achieve the goal of availability and reduce life cycle costs. However, securing spare parts and repair costs are directly related, so exact requirements are needed. Methods: Three kinds of methods (Calculation method of applying the Poisson distribution, Calculation method of considering the number of CSP, and Calculation method of applying M&S program) that this paper proposed compare the influence of the availability and the amount of spare parts. Result: We calculate the cost of M/F when the operational availability is over than 80% and compare that result. The biggest cost was calculated from the Poisson distribution method. We found that requirements and unit price is the key factor that gives a significant effect. Conclusion: These three kinds of methods can be used as a basis for Maintenance Float calculation. Among them, the calculation method based on CSP is optimal replacement equipment requirements calculation method.
The purpose of this paper is to present an Integrated Life Cycle Bridge Information Modeling that can be used throughout different phases of the bridge life cycle including: design, construction, and operation and maintenance phases. Bridge Information Modeling (BrIM) has become an effective tool in bridge engineering and construction. It has been used in obtaining accurate shop drawings, cost estimation, and visualization. In this paper, BrIM is used as an integrated tool for bridges life cycle information modeling. In the design phase, BrIM model can be used in obtaining optimum construction methods and performing structural advanced analysis. During construction phase, the model selects the appropriate locations for mobile cranes, monitors the status of precast components, and controls documents. Whereas, it acts as a tool for bridge management system in operation and maintenance phase. The paper provides a detailed description for each use of BrIM model in design, construction, and operation and maintenance phases of bridges. It is proven that BrIM is an effective tool for bridge management systems throughout their life phases.
Recently, the military service period has been shortened continuously. Meanwhile, more skilled airmen are needed as the complexity of weapon systems increase. This phenomenon could lead to a disastrous result such as deteriorating the level of the readiness and the fighting power. We suggest a method to improve recruit's maintenance capability rapidly by assigning airmen to jobs appropriate to their characteristics using Datamining methods (K-menas and CART). We focus on the assigning method for air force's air-munition maintenance airmen since they are requested more skilled than other airmen. Grouping airmen with k-means method and devising classification rule with CART algorithm, we found that airmen's proficiency arrival period could be shortened by 1.79 months when they are assigned in the suggested way.
