  • This study examined the mediating effect of self-esteem in the relationship between maternal rejective parenting attitude and children's leadership as well as identified gender differences in the mediating pathways. The mediating effects of this study were examined after controlling the effect of maternal employment status on rejection parenting attitude and the effect of siblings on the children's leadership. Participants consisted of 330 five- and six-year-old children (151 boys and 179 girls) and their mothers. Data analyses included t-tests, F tests, $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ post-hoc tests and Pearson's correlation. Structure equation modeling examined the mediating effect of self-esteem. Bootstrapping method was applied to examine the significance of the mediating effects. Gender differences in the mediating effect were examined through multiple group path analyses. The results of this study were as follows. First, self-esteem mediated the relationship between the maternal rejective parenting attitude on children's leadership. Second, there was a significant gender difference in the mediating pathways with a full mediating effect of self-esteem for boys; however, there was only a partial mediating effect for the girls. This study has implication for investigating gender difference in the mediating mechanism of explaining variance in the leadership of preschoolers. The limitations and more implications of this study are also discussed.

  • The purpose of this study was to reseach the effect of Daehwanggamchoeumja(大黃甘草飮子) and its component groups on diabetes, free radicals, and antioxidants system in Alloxan-induced diabetic rats. The experimental group was divided into three groups: Daehwanggamchoeumja(DG), and its components groups, Gamdutang (Gamcho&Daedu; DG-I) and Daehwanggamchotang(DG-2). The results were obtained as follows: 1. In the study of effect on diabetic metabolic dysfunction(Glucose, Triglyceride, Total Cholesterol, HDL Cholesterol, Total Protein, Albumin, Creatine, BUN), only DG has a significant effect. 2. In the study on free radical scavenging effect in vitro(the suppressing effect on peroxidation of linoleic acid on concentration, the scavenging effect of DPPH radical, inhibitory effect of superoxide in xanthine-xanthine oxidase system, inhibitory effect on lipid peroxidation reaction by hydroxy radical in $H_2O_2Fe^{2-}$system, and the effect on Nitrate reductase activity), DG and DG-2 have more effect than DG-l relatively. 3. In the study on antioxidants system in vivo(The level of serum LPO, The level of hepatic LPO, Catalase, GSH, GST), only DG has a significant effect. These results suggest that Daehwanggamchoeumja(大黃甘草飮子) has an effect on diabetes, peroxidative damage by free radical, so it seems to be useful to prevent and treat diabetes. The mechanisms of these are supposed to be involved in antioxidant and three drugs' cooperative synergy effect.

  • The main objective of this research is to find out the effect of Non-Performing Loan (NPL) of Nepalese conventional banks. The population of this study is major commercial banks in Nepal and the data obtained for this study was from the period 2015-2019. This research used secondary data and it is collected from each bank's annual report and GDP and Inflation taken from the World Bank database. The method used for data analysis in this study is multiple regression analysis. The study used NPL as a dependent variable and Return on Asset (ROA), Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Bank Size, GDP growth, and Inflation as independent/explanatory variables. The result of this research shows that ROA, Bank Size, GDP, and Inflation have a significant effect on NPL but CAR does not have a significant effect on the NPL of banks. In other words, the GDP effect on NPL in this study shows a positive and significant effect while most studies show a negative effect. It demonstrates that when GDP growth increases, there is a significant increase in the growth of Nepalese banks even though there were no significant changes in income growth. Therefore, GDP growth has a positive and significant effect on the NPL of commercial banks. Thus, the bankers and policymakers need to consider GDP growth carefully while taking NPL-related decisions.
