Analysis of Educational Effect of User Participation School Space Innovation - Focused on Incheon Metropolitan City - (사용자 참여형 학교공간혁신의 교육적 효과 분석 - 인천광역시를 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to think about the educational effect of school space innovation project through user participation, to investigate and analyze the actual situation of user participation school space innovation project of elementary, middle and high schools of Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education, The educational effect was analyzed. After the students and teachers participated in the improvement of the school space, the students' skills were improved. Overall, emotional abilities were most cultivated, and elementary school students were most physically cultivated. The intimacy created by participation and activities and play-oriented projects may have helped to develop students' abilities. In addition, the school became fun after user participation, and there was a positive effect of increasing a sense of apathy and belonging. The expansion of user participation has resulted in not only the satisfaction of space but also the friendship and emotional part of students. As a result of this study, the school space constructed through the user participation process brought about significant educational changes in school life and individual quality of life in the learning activities and school life of teachers and students, the main users of the school space.

A Study on the Analysis of Structure and Type of the Reading Programs in the Secondary School Library by Modulized Educational Activities (교육 활동의 모듈화를 통한 중등 학교도서관 독서 프로그램의 구조와 유형 분석에 관한 연구)

  • The aim of this study is to classify the structure levels and types of the reading program in the secondary school library. The object of analysis is the practice case of the reading program included in 'Occupying School Library by 1318 Bookworms' for recently 10 years. There are 375 cases. According to the analysis result, most of the reading programs have three layers made up of 'blend title- reading activities- educational activities'. And there are classified into eight types (lecture, viewing, presentation, exhibition, making sth, debating, answering a quiz, experience) of the reading activities. The type of reading program depend on how to combine to the educational activities(reading, writing, listening, watching, speaking, making). This attribute of educational activities match up with modularity, completeness itself and organizing system. Through modular process of educational activities, it's possible to design their own reading programs based on the reading activity by adding, compensating other educational activities.

Evaluation of educational school meal programs in Gyeonggi province, South Korea

  • Purpose: School meal programs should be part of the educational process to promote good eating habits for students. The purpose of this study was to develop an evaluation scale for educational school meal programs and evaluate the achievement level of educational school meal programs using the developed scale. Methods: The evaluation scale for educational school meal programs consisted of 23 items in eight categories and was developed using content validity ratio (CVR) analysis and analytic hierarchy process (AHP) by 15 related experts. The results of a survey on nutrition teachers or dietitians at 91 elementary, middle, and high schools in Gyeonggi province, South Korea were analyzed to evaluate the achievement levels of educational school meal programs. Results: Overall, total average score was 45.7 out of 100, with significant differences among schools (p = 0.005). Elementary schools (51.9) showed a higher average score than middle (41.5) and high schools (37.1). The score for the category of regular nutrition and dietary education was the lowest (5.7 out of 33.7). In addition, school meal environment (5 out of 10), educational activities through school meal time (9.2 out of 19), and extra-curricular experiential activities (3.5 out of 10) also showed inadequate levels. Conclusion: The results show that the overall level of educational school meal programs is not adequate and needs to be improved, especially at middle and high schools. Government support polices need to be implemented to encourage educational activities related to school meal programs.

An Ethnography on Educational Activities of Three Middle Schools in Rural Area (농산어촌지역 교육의 특성과 문제점 분석 -세 학교에 대한 문화기술적 접근-)

  • This paper was to study characteristics of school types based on classification of rural areas. This study tried to provide basic data for implementing the development of rural education policy for the community unit by classifying and analyzing administrative districts. For the purpose, the researcher carried out literature reviews and selected three schools considering the gaps in size and location of rural community. The researcher interviewed teachers and parents, to gather information about rural education, and conducted participant observation on educational activities. As a result, this study showed each rural school has its own distinct characteristics by the school types corresponding to each rural community. Characteristics with school types were influenced by school location, possible migration into the cities, possible opportunities of private tutoring, school size, social class distribution, socio-economic status, dwelling pattern of school teachers. In conclusion, it is important that the educational policies for rural area consider the different characteristics of rural schools.

A Study of the Level of Awareness of Teachers Regarding Future Learning Environments (학습환경으로서 미래교육시설구성에 대한 교사 인식 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to gauge the level of awareness of elementary, middle school, and highschool teachers regarding teaching-learning activities, learning space, and support for technology-based instruction in current and future school education, thereby providing essential data for seeking future improvements in the learning environment. Towards this end, a survey questionnaire (sectionalized into teaching-learning activities, learning space, and support for technology-based instruction) was developed. Subsequently the survey was administered to a random sampling of elementary, middle school, and highschool teachers in the Kyonggi, Kangwon, and Chonra Provinces. An in-depth analysis was conducted on the 797 questionnaire responses thus attained, focusing on the teachers' level of awareness regarding teaching-learning activities, learning space, and support for technology-based instruction, the correlation of the findings of the three areas in question, and the differences of the findings according to the circumstances of those surveyed. Based on the results, the authors of this study propose the following: First, that school administrators take into account the level of awareness of frontline teachers regarding teaching-learning activities, learning space, support for technology-based instruction. Second, efforts should be made to establish a safe and secure learning environment conducive to the synergic interplay of the three areas in question, by realizing true ICT in the classroom. Third, teachers in the classroom must endeavor to achieve a meaningful synthesis between educational programs and teaching-learning activities, as well as to serve as harbingers of improvements in the way we conduct the business of education.

Analysis on the Affecting Factors of School Career Educational Activities for Junior-high School Students' Career Development Competencies (중학생의 학교 진로교육 참여활동이 진로개발역량에 미치는 영향)

  • This study aims to suggest the appropriate career educational policies in order to improve junior-high school students' career development competency through various school career educational activities with the hierarchical analysis by using data surveyed by 10,728 third grade junior high school students of 400 schools from the '2015 School Career Education Survey'. The results showed that 'career and occupations' subject learning, career psychological tests, and career experience activities were found to have statistically significant effects on career development competencies. These results in that 'career and occupations' subject learning, career psychological tests, and career experience activities help to enhance career development competency of junior-high school students. The implication of these results were discussed in terms of the importance and the need for school career educational activities, and suggestions for future research are provided.

  • The purpose of Environmental subject in the Korean school is pretty much similar to that of international organization. Because it doesn't apply the characteristics of School Education to environmental education, this school environmental education purpose needs to be discussed. The purpose of this study is to establish the reasonable purpose of school environmental education by analyzing the educational views. This study have been done through review of research literature, which usually includes references and papers on environmental education, school environmental education, educational point of view, educational purpose. It analyzed three kinds of views on education: technological view on education, initiation view on education, socialization view on education. The results are as follows: The purpose of school environmental education from technological view on education is environmental education activity itself that educates students to put the environmental preservation value into action. Initiation view on education aims at school environmental education as activities that instruct students on intellectual ability in order to develop a comprehensive view of intelligence. The purpose of environmental education in school on the basis of socialization view on education focuses on activities that authoritative teachers transmit the social value of environmental preservation to students in school.

An Analysis on Educational Experience of Competent Engineering Students based on Personal Investment Theory (우수한 공대생의 교육 활동 참여 분석: 개인투자이론을 기초로)

  • The purpose of this research is to analyze the educational experiences of competent engineering students and finding the reason why they invest their time and efforts engaging in school activities. Five students with high GPA, high K-CESA scores and successful employment or entrance test scores, participated in the survey and the interview. In checking their responses, their activities' records were gathered from school DB. According to the modified framework based on the personal investment theory, the interviews, survey and DB records were analyzed on the sense of self, the social cultural environment, and pattern of behaviors in schools. The competent engineering students are able to manage themselves, in maintaining a good relationship with the collegiate, and in having high self-efficiency. They also tend to put effort into their studies and participate in inbound and outbound school activities. At the last part, freshmen foundation, relationship within college, students' activity related future career, economic stability during studies are suggested for supporting students in universities.

  • The purpose of study was to exploring on the educational values in after school physical programs. The participants were students in grades 5 (3), after school parents who are interested in sports activities (3), after school sports activities led by experienced teachers in three of were selected as study participants. The data were collected through in-depth interviews, collected data were transcribed and coded for domain analysis, classification analysis. The analysis of the results were as follows. After school physical activities, educational significance of the various values of physical activity experiences, meeting with school physical education and sport, educational welfare: the elimination of educational disparities, physical culture, introductory appeared.

The Present Operational Status of Science Club Activities in Secondary School and Improvement Schemes (중학교 과학과 클럽활동의 운영 실태와 개선 방안)

  • The curriculum of science should be made of the education based on the acquirement instead of the knowledge. However, the present educational environment has many problems such as lack of laboratory and experimental facilities, and time limitations. One of the suggested methods to overcome the barriers in regular curriculum is the efficient operation of science club activities. Since the club activities are not restricted on time and space, teachers can apply various methods and programs. In this paper, we investigate the present operational status of science club activities in secondary school and some suggested improvement schemes of them It is shown that teacher training, reference development, time allocation, educational environment, facility completion and various program developments should be preceded, in order to activate science club activities.
