Development of Evaluation Model for achieving the Program Educational Objectives in KEC2005 (한국공학교육인증의 '프로그램 교육목표' 달성을 위한 평가 모형 개발)

  • Though the 'Program Educational Objectives' is the first and important criterion in ABEEK's engineering education accreditation, exact meaning and implementation methods have not been understood well. It was often confused with 'Program Outcomes' and its implementation and evaluation methods do not reflected well on the concepts of "outcomes based and demand driven education". A new implementation model for 'Program Educational Objectives' has been developed using step by step application. The model explains the meaning of every step (phase), and key constituents in each phase. The specialization and CQI of the program could be satisfied by applying the model properly.

The Design and An Implementation of Education Shooting Game for kids

  • The definition of educational games, the importance of game development, and the characteristics of educational games are described. The design of the screen used in the game and the algorithm used are described. We explained the game implementation in the system environment and experiment, and the questionnaire showed whether there is nonviolence of the game, games preferred by children, game benefits, and fun elements of the game. The superiority of the game was described by comparing and analyzing the educational shooting game proposed in this paper with the existing game. The existing children's games had many shortcomings in terms of commercial and educational aspects, but the proposed games proved to be less violent and have educational effects.

A Study on the Implementation of an Educational Program for Caregivers (노부모 부양자 교육프로그램의 적용과 효과)

  • This study was conducted to reconstitute a family life education program for caregivers and to analyze the system of implementation. Based largely on a pre-existing program for caregiving families, I developed a new educational program. Personal time management and personal needs management were added in the content of the program order to help enhance self-esteem and internal control. The reconstituted educational program, which consists of 6 sessions, was implemented on a small group of caregivers in Jeollabukdo Province who support their elderly parents. The effectiveness of the program was evaluated by a pre-test, a post-test, a follow-up test and open-questionnaire reports. The results from the post-test suggest that the program has been effective in improving the knowledge on aging process, internal control and self-esteem. But the follow-up test results show the program has been effective only in improving the knowledge on aging process. According to the open-questionnaire reports, the program seems to have been effective in improving interpersonal relationships and changing attitudes toward their elderly parents.

Implementation of a Wi-Fi Based Cluster System using Raspberry Pi for Multidisciplinary Education

  • In this paper, we implemented a Wi-Fi based cluster system using raspberry pi for multidisciplinary education. The cluster implementation on the desktop was more difficult to maintain the complexity, big size, high price, power consumption as the number of nodes increased. In this paper, we implemented a cluster using Raspberry Pi, which is developed for educational purposes, to reduce the cost of connecting nodes. In addition, the complexity of system construction is reduced by replacing the connection between each node with Wi-Fi. Also, the inconvenience of configuration due to node increase was reduced. It is expected that the implementation of the cluster will be a good alternative in the educational environment where distributed processing and parallel processing are performed in the embedded environment. Also, it is confirmed that it can be applied to the multidisciplinary education.

  • For high-quality education of the modern generation of students, forms of organizing the educational process and the latest methods of obtaining knowledge that differ from traditional ones are necessary. The importance of multimedia teaching tools is shown, which are promising and highly effective tools that allow the teacher not only to present an array of information in a larger volume than traditional sources of information, but also to include text, graphs, diagrams, sound, animation, video, etc. in a visually integrated form. Approaches to the classification of multimedia learning tools are revealed. Special features, advantages of multimedia, expediency of use and their disadvantages are highlighted. A comprehensive analysis of the capabilities of multimedia teaching tools gave grounds for identifying the didactic functions that they perform. Several areas of multimedia application are described. Multimedia technologies make it possible to implement several basic methods of pedagogical activity, which are traditionally divided into active and passive principles of student interaction with the computer, which are revealed in the article. Important conditions for the implementation of multimedia technologies in the educational process are indicated. The feasibility of using multimedia in education is illustrated by examples. Of particular importance in education are game forms of learning, in the implementation of which educational elements based on media material play an important role. The influence of the game on the development of attention by means of works of media culture, which are very diverse in form and character, is shown. The importance of the role of multimedia in student education is indicated. In the educational process of multimedia students, a number of educational functions are implemented, which are presented in the article. Recommendations for using multimedia are given.

  • In recent years, amount of studies on application of wetbased educational system are proceeding in educational field. This study proposes design and implementation for web-based learning system using WMT in order to practise assistance learning between teacher and students on the web. For system design and implementation, this study utilizes Windows 2000 Server and Windows Media Technology. Using WMT, we make teaming materials and put them in web-based educational system. It should be possible to make teaming in accordance with Windows Media Player for a long-distance students. As a result, this study expects to accomplish a web-based learning between teacher and student on the web.

Adaptive Hypermedia for eLearning: An Implementation Framework

  • eLearning can be defined as an approach to teaching and teaming that utilises Internet technologies to communicate and collaborate in an educational context. This includes technology that supplements traditional classroom training with web-based components and learning environments where the educational process is experienced online. The use of hypertext as an educational tool has a very rich history. The advent of the internet and one of its major application, the world wide web (WWW), has given a tremendous boost to the theory and practice of hypermedia systems for educational purposes. However, the web suffers from an inability to satisfy the heterogeneous needs of a large number of users. For example, web-based courses present the same static teaming material to students with widely differing knowledge of the subject. Adaptive hypermedia techniques can be used to improve the adaptability of eLearning. In this paper we report an approach to the design a unified implementation framework suitable for web-based eLearning that accommodates the three main dimensions of hypermedia adaptation: content, navigation, and presentation. The framework externalises the adaptation strategies using XML notation. The separation of the adaptation strategies from the source code of the eLearning software enables a system using the framework to quickly implement a variety of adaptation strategies. This work is a part of our more general ongoing work on the design of a framework for adaptive content delivery. parts of the framework discussed in this paper have been imulemented in a commercial eLearning engine.

Development of a Quality Manual for a Research and Educational Centre: A Case Study

  • There have been growing concerns about whether proper measures are in place to ensure the delivery of quality services and the operations in research and educational institutions. This paper describes various quality models and discusses their relevance into the total quality concepts and quality management systems (QMS) in education. It then illustrates how a QMS and the accompanied quality manual be developed in a research and educational institution using the Centre for Enterprise Research Integration (ERI) at The University of the West Indies, Trinidad as a case. Through personal interviews with the $Centre{\square}s$ personnel, views on the operations and determinants of the QMS were acquired. Results showed that the people's resistance to changes, conflicts on academic freedom, and difficulties on measuring performance were the obstacles to QMS implementation. People involvement and proper communication are determinants of QMS implementation. The system also rests on having a tailored quality manual that entails the documentation of processes and procedures for ascertaining the delivery of quality services and operations in the Centre. The development of quality manual is briefly described in the paper.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the management of nutrition programs in kindergarten and the implementation of educational activities during snack and lunch times. The study also investigated early childhood teachers' understanding of the management of the nutrition program. 259 early childhood teachers responded to a questionnaire developed by the researchers. It was found that there was no effort to provide educational activities through snack and lunch times, implying the necessity of inservice training programs for early childhood teachers.
