  • Enough school facility maintenance data should be accumulated in a database or data warehouse in order to supply information about school facility correct maintenance budget plan, budget assignment, and cycle and rate of maintenance or replacement. For those, this research analyze the present school facility maintenance practice and budget and construction cost structure. In order to solve the problems, this study analyze the present practice of maintenance and replacement and obtain LCC(Life cycle cost) data, perform expert interview and then establish construction work breakdown structure of maintenance of educational facility by combining work breakdown structure(WBS) and cost breakdown structure(CBS).

  • This study is to find countermeasures of facility space according to the development of new educational program and the opening of education market from the renewal of existing facilities. The renewal is consider as the worldwide trend for enhancing added value of the facilities in economic side of educational facilities as well as educational contents. This study selects six from 94 elementary schools in Kwangju-city to examine our educational conditions, understand using conditions and recognition of existing space and possibility of the recycle. The hypothesis that recognition of existing facility space in school may be varied according to physical conditions of children is made in four sides, six elements and two trends are extracted and then life pattern, size, sense of materials and cognition of three types of passage space are analyzed. Accordingly, this study obtains such results that passage space is life space having strong place concept and there is the possibility of renewal of existing school building facilities corresponding to multipurpose of school facilities.

  • Education is about sharing knowledge and using techniques and skills that can person's ability. the goal is to educate and develop people as a whole. In order to achieve this educational purpose efficiently, our society has many educational courses. The educational facility which can be used in a variety of educational methods should be made flexible. It should provide an environment in which ever student can grow. Being creative, using a variety of methods should help to develop character in people. In order to achieve this, the school's facilities should be future-oriented. It is necessary to research systemically about its changes and feed back according to the social demand, the educational purpose, and the changes of educational courses. This study is intended to present basic material which will be need from now on for the facility of the special classes in jeju city. Elementary schools should consider having a reasonable scale and arrangement pattern. The facility for special classes has to find a way to operate flexibly according to the changes of the class number.

  • This study has a purpose to profile local sectors into meaningful groups by using facilities rates of Social Overhead Capital(SOC) for daily life. Comparing SOC for daily life among the meaningful groups, the profiling and comparison results bring the comprehensive understanding about the educational facilities in local sectors. For the research purpose, this study utilized Latent Profile Analysis(LPA) by using variables such as population, road information, SOC for daily life, usage of land, possession of land, and appraised value of land from the 2018 Geographic Information System(GIS) dataset of Gwangjin-gu, where is one of the administrative district of Seoul City. Results showed that there are four latent groups of sectors among 904 local sectors(100 squared-meters sector per each) in Gwangjin-gu. By comparing the four latent groups by using LPA, the results diagnose each sector's status and help to improve the policy about educational facilities. Specifically, by using dataset for SOC of daily life, there are four groups of local sectors and each group has different features. Based on the different features of local sector groups, there can be improved management of educational facilities matching with each group's features.

Architectural Work Cost Rate Analysis of Elementary, Middle, and High School Delivered by BTL (초·중등학교 민간투자사업(BTL)의 건축공사비의 공종별 비율 분석)

  • The accurate estimation of construction cost is critical for effective budgeting and financing of the project. Accurate estimates also allow for informed decisions when considering the responsiveness of bids or proposals and for a contractor to better monitor construction progress. However, current method for construction cost of the public educational facility uses a basic criteria in Korea, e.g, construction cost per unit floor area. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine present architectural work cost rate of elementary, middle, and high school delivered by BTL(Build-Transfer-Lease). We examined real construction cost of educational facility according to level of school, such as elementary, middle, and high school. The examination revealed that unit price of BTL educational construction cost are different to the level of school, but the composing rate of architectural work cost of the educational facility are very similar. As a result, it is recommended that future researches are initiated to create specific methods to support the accurate cost estimation of educational facility.

A Study on the Architectural Condition of Women's Hall as Social Education Facilities (사회교육시설로서 여성회관의 시설현황 연구)

  • Recently, women's social activities in our society have been greatly increased and legal system and mechanism of social structure to pursue a society where gender equality shall be realized has been discussed lively in a detail manner. Nevertheless, the rate of social advancement of Korean women shows much lower than that of the western industrialized countries. The aim of this study is to examine such problem and to look for a solution thereof. As the subject for this survey, such social welfare facility as women's hall was selected, and then its state of facilities was investigated. The results from this survey revealed that women's hall, which had been started constructing since 1950s, began to spread out nationwide reaching the 1990s, and that women's hall was greatly used as a major public facility that supports women's social activities in each region, and that women's hall, which had been started as a social welfare facility, was a multifunctional facility performing functions such as welfare, education, culture and community, and that educational function among these had been changed a little by little in the aspect of contents and purpose according to the changes of times, however, education for women was treated as a major important function in the women's hall and operated accordingly.

  • Facility management is to maintain and develop the primary structural, functional, aesthetic performance of facility in order to guaranty the users' daily convenience and safety. However it is hard to maintain and serve their intended function and safe environment from the beginning as times go by. As present educational government of city and local area has been performing formally facility check and management as well as maintenance of school facility, it is hard to respond a dangerous situation at the suitable time and safety prevention plans are delayed. In addition, educational environment improving budget have been unreasonably decided not according to the allocating criteria. Therefore, this research developed a same, simple, and quantitative evaluation method of deterioration level of elementary, middle, and high School in Korea and verified usability of the method through the case study.

  • The purpose of this research starts analyzing the case with the United States and Japan and considering the plan form of educational facilities in the advanced country for the improvement of educational facilities in our counties. Japan was managing the educational system which carried out homogeneous till the first stage of the 1970s like advanced nations, such as the educational system of the industrialization age before World War II, i.e., Britain and the United States. The form of an American open school was adopted after the second half of the 1960s, trying the educational system which also globalized the educational system of Japan while the world went into the information society. In the process of the introduction, Japan did not simply imitate a huge open space in the United States. Japan selected the content of the education carefully. And, to do an original educational activity by guidance. The current classroom and multipurpose space were planned as one body. As a result, the environment of the classroom was able to do various studying patterns of individual study and the group study.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the appraising frame and the accreditation system of universities in both Korea and the United Sates, as well as developing a standard plan to appraise 4 year nursing education institutions in Korea. Research design of this study was descriptive comparative research. The results of the research can be divided into six fields, educational purposes, educational courses, students, faculty, facility .equipments and administration.finance in Korea. Then the results were further categorized into seven fields : mission and governance, faculty, students, curriculum and instruction, resources, educational effectiveness and integrity. Thus Korean appraising frames were suggested to have eight fields of standard. The fields are philosophy and purposes of educational institution, educational courses and instruction, students, faculty, facility .equipments, adminstration.finance, educational effectiveness and integrity.

  • As the physical functions of school buildings and the changes in the functions of educational facilities due to social change are increasing, the demand for fundamental and long-term measures for the maintenance of educational facilities is expanding. However, depending on the function of the facility, the maintenance work has been carried out only when it is directly related to the safety problem, or when the request of the school facility manager is requested, rather than supporting preventive maintenance. In this study, we investigate the maintenance process of educational facilities and propose a method to manage the maintenance process of the educational facilities in the unit of space for establishing an efficient maintenance management system.
