  • Irradiation of phenolbetaine in a stream of nitrogen produced 8,14-cycioberbine[1]. Compound[1] was treated with 10% HCl solution to give the 8-hydroxycycloberbine[2] in 67.7% yield. Subsequently addition of ethylchloroformate to the compound[2] gave rise to the 8-hydroxy-7-ethylcarboxy-9, 10-dimethoxy-2, 3-methylenelioxy-13-oxo-norochotensane[3] in 78% yield. Treatment of the compound[3] with bis-(2-chloroethyl)amine then lead to the 7-bis(2-chloroethyl)carbamyl-norochoteneare[4]. On the other hand the compound[5], which is the 8-methoxynorochotensane, was derived when compound[1] was treated with methanol in a few drops of BF. Treatment of the compound[6], and the compound[7], 7-bis(2-chloroethyl)-carbanyl-8-methoxy-norocheyensane, was then synthesized by reaction of the compound[6] with bis(2-chloroethyl) amine. In the other synthetic pathway when compound[5] was treated with $POCl_3$ in dried benzene, 13-chloro-6-ene-norochetensane[8] with 42% yield was formed. Finally the 13-bis-(2-chloroethyl) amino-8-methoxy-norochotensane[9] was produced when we treated the compound[8] with bis-(2-chloroethyl) amine. In another pathway, reaction between phenolbetaine which is the precursor of the compound[1] and benzoylchloride in dried chloroform gave us the 5,6,7 trihydro-2, 3-methylene-dioxy-9-chloromethyl-10, 11-dimethoxyphenylisoquinoline-8-benzoate[10] in 73% yield. The results of biological activities for these compounds are also presented in Table I and II.

  • There are various types of unexpected troubles in service of a thermal power plant, which consists of many complicated high-tech mass equipments. The troubles are mostly caused by the manufacturing defects, the material deteriorations, the human errors, and others. Failures of its system due to the troubles, can bring on the extravagant economic loss and the qualitative degradation of electricity. Especially, it is most important to find a way to decrease human errors because it can result in not only the economic loss, but also morale declination of employees or the department related to the trouble. Therefore, we categorize previous troubles related to the human errors, and try to show the causations and the counter-measures based on the various categories such as maintenance, an operation, and system of the thermal power plants.

  • Objective: This case report details the successful management of bowel perforation through traditional Korean medicine. Often, emergency surgery is required due to potential complications, such as peritonitis. In this case, the patient had previously undergone a total colectomy, making surgical treatment complicated. Methods: The patient revealed persistent abdominal pain and over 20 instances of diarrhea per day. During the course of treatment, which included two hospitalizations and one outpatient visit, acupuncture treatment and herbal medicine were administered. Throughout the treatment period, the intensity of abdominal pain and the frequency of diarrhea gradually decreased. Results: At the end of treatment, a follow-up abdominal computed tomography (CT) scan showed no evidence of perforation. Additionally, blood tests revealed no abnormalities in liver or kidney function, confirming the safety of the treatments.

  • Melasma is a common disorder that causes dark colored patches. It generally causes brown spots on the face, especially on the forehead, cheeks, and upper lips. The pattern of patches has bilateral symmetry in yellowish-brown to gray-brown colors. It is much more common in women than in men. Melasma is considered to be caused by environmental and physical constitutional factors and often occurs when a woman's hormone changes by pregnancy or the use of oral contraceptive pills. It is important to combine oriental medicine and Sasang constitutional medicine for treatment of Melasma. Normal treatment of Melasma includes warming oneself, removal of the emotional stress factors, and good nutrition.

  • The purpose of this study is to focus on the fashion communicating of the East and the west. For this purpose, the study will analyze the Visions of the East in Western Dress has long expressed an intense multiculturalism. This study is realized that clothing has served to consolidate more then to segregate. While never losing the characteristics of its place of origin, clothing has shown itself a reading assimilated object portability and ephemerality promote investigation, at the very least. Eastern ideas of textile, design, construction, and utility has been realized again as a positive contribution to the culture of the West. The East offers a larger concept in alternative to the Western propensity for tailoring. In giving primacy to the textile, Eastern dress emphasizes the flat terrain of cloth, the looping and Wrapping of the garment, and the integrity of the untailored textile. There values, antithetical to postmedieval Western dress, have offered a paradigm of dressing and dressmaking to the West that has been sporadically Influential, and notably so in our time.
