부모의 유아교육기관 유형별 선택요인 및 만족도 (The Selection Factors and the Satisfaction Degree of Parents on Early Childhood Education Institutions)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine parents' selection factors and satisfaction degree in selecting an early childhood education institute according to various types of early childhood education institutes. The subjects were 650 parents of early childhood education institutes from Andong city. The result of the study can be summarized as follows. The parents' consideration degrees in the selection factors were different according to the types of early childhood education institutes. The parents' satisfaction degree on the early childhood education institutes was also different according to the types of early childhood education institutes. This result might be helpful in determining future directions for the improvement of the qualitative growth of early childhood education reflecting the demands and characteristics of parents.

영유아의 교육 및 보육기관 이용과 기관유형선택에 영향을 미치는 사회인구학적 요인 (Use of Early Childhood Care Centers and the Sociodemographic Factors of Choosing an Institute)

  • The purpose of this study is to offer essential information related to early childhood education and care policy. Using the Korea Labor and Income Panel Study(KLIPS) Vol.5., this study analyzed sociodemographic factors that decide the use and type of institute for early childhood education and care. The following results are obtained: First, it is not easy for young children under three years old to use education and care institutes because of their preference for home care. Second, the mother's job status affects the child's use of child care centers and private institutes for education except for the using of early child education centers. Third, the affecting main factors for the use of child care centers are quite similar to critical factors for use of the private institute for education. Thus, young children using the private institute for education could be interpreted as coming from a low-income class compared with the children using the early child education centers.

유아교육기관의 학급규모 고찰을 통한 정책적 함의 (Policy Implications by Studying the Class Size of Early Childhood Education Institutes)

  • Objective: This study aimed to provide policy implications by studying the class size of early childhood education institutes. Methods: By looking through researches, the educational influence of class size was examined. By using the latest statistical data, class size standard and status were compared. After class size perception in the field was considered and the main results of advanced researches were summarized and analyzed, the actual condition of class size was diagnosed. Furthermore, the national research trend was analyzed. Results: First, class size was an influencing factor on young children and teachers and its importance was reconfirmed. Second, as for standard in relation to class size in Korea, the maximum class size and teacher-child ratio were not presented together. In respect of overseas standards, infancy has similar standards, but early childhood has a little higher ratio. In the educational fields, there was growing awareness that class size should be modified. Third, there were not enough domestic researches on class size and they tended to be biased in terms of the method, targets, and contents. Conclusion/Implications: It is suggested that it is necessary to establish a class size policy for future early childhood education institutes, to implement a system, and to perform follow-up studies.

기관 내외 교육과 어머니의 영어교육 신념이 유아의 영어 흥미에 미치는 영향: 일반유치원과 영어학원 유치부의 비교 (Effects of Education and Mothers' Perceptions regarding English Education on Preschoolers' Interests in Learning English: A Comparison between General Kindergartens and English Immersion Institutes)

  • This study investigated children's interests in learning English, affected by educational activities in and out of institutes, and mothers' perceptions regarding early childhood English education. We recruited, 253 mothers of 3- to 5-year-old children in either general kindergartens or English immersion institutes. They answered questions on socioeconomic status, perceived interest in English by their children, their perceptions regarding early childhood English education, and English education outside institutes. In addition, 42 English teachers provided information within institutes such as class time per week, teacher-pupil rate, and language use policy during class. The collected data were analyzed through SPSS 22 for frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, independent t-test, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis. The major findings are as follows. First, the two groups were in distinct learning environment. Second, mothers' perceptions and outside-institute activities were significantly different between the two groups. Third, the English interests of children at both institutes were influenced by mothers' worries and at-home English interactions. Fourth, education within institutes did not affect both group's English interests. Fifth, private education and socioeconomic status did not affect both group's English interests. Lastly, only the children's interests in English immersion institutes were affected by gender and mother's perceived necessities. Focusing children's interests, this study helps in understanding young children's affective aspects regarding learning English. The findings are expected to be a guideline for each home and institute to increase children's interest in learning English.

유아교육기관의 도서관 운영 및 독서교육 현황 분석 -서울시를 중심으로- (A Study on Analysis of Library Operation and Reading Education at Early Childhood Education Institutes: Focused on Seoul City)

  • 본 연구는 유아교육기관의 도서관 운영 여부와 독서에 적합한 환경구성이 제대로 조성되어 있는지 파악하고, 도서관을 활용한 독서교육 및 인식에 대한 조사를 위해 설문분석을 수행하였다. 그 결과, 도서관을 운영하고 있다는 응답이 높은 비율로 조사되었으며, 도서관과 담당사서가 필요한 이유는 '유아들의 독서교육을 위해서', '도서의 체계적인 관리를 위해서' 순으로 분석되었고, 효율적인 독서교육을 위하여 필요한 점으로 '전문지식을 가진 인력체계 구축'과 '독서교육 프로그램 개발'이 가장 필요한 것으로 분석되었다.

유아교육기관 원장의 리더십이 유아교사의 임파워먼트와 조직효과성에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Director's Leadership on Teachers' Empowerment and Organizational Effectiveness in Early Childhood Educational Institutes)

  • This study investigated the influence of director's leadership on teachers' empowerment and organizational effectiveness in early childhood educational institutes. The subjects in this study were 627 teachers who worked at kindergartens and childcare centers located in Seoul and Gyeonggi province. The results showed that (1) transformational leadership had stronger effects on teacher empowerment than transactional leadership. (2) Directors' transformational leadership had meaningful effects on organizational commitment, but their transactional leadership didn't have effects on commitment. (3) Directors' transformational leadership had stronger effects on job satisfaction and job performance than transactional leadership.

  • 본 연구는 교육 공공성의 개념적 요소에 비추어 현재 유아교육의 현황을 짚어보고, 향후 유아교육 발전을 위한 정책적 과제들을 도출하기 위해 수행되었다. 정부 공식문서, 국책연구기관 보고서를 수집하여 정성적 문헌분석을 실시하였으며, 공공성 구성요소들을 준거로 하여 유아교육의 공공성 수준을 평가하였다. 연구결과 그 동안의 우리나라의 유아교육 정책은 누리과정 도입 등 유아교육의 공공성을 강화하는 방향으로 추진되어 왔다. 공공성의 양적 확대는 이루어졌으나, 이제는 공공성의 질적 강화에 초점을 둔 정책방향의 재설정 및 제도보완이 요구된다. 본 연구는 유아교육 전반에 대한 재검토 방향에 대한 시사점을 제공하였다.

유아교육기관 방과 후 특별활동에 대한 의미 탐색 (Exploring the Meaning of Extracurricular Specialized Activity in Early Childhood Education)

  • 본 연구는 이론적 견해와 현실의 불일치 속에서 점차 확대되어 가는 유아교육기관의 방과 후 특별활동에 대한 의미를 탐색해보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 방과 후 특별활동 프로그램이 시행되고 있는 세 곳의 유아교육기관의 수업현장을 관찰하였으며 강사와의 면담을 실시하여 그 의미를 탐색해 보았다. 연구 결과, 유아교육기관에서의 방과 후 특별활동은 유아들에게 '새로움과 즐거움의 공존', '학습으로서의 의미', '다양한 교수 매체 경험'과 정규수업과 다른 현실 속에서 '피할 수 없는 한계'로 분석해 볼 수 있었다. 이러한 연구 결과를 토대로 앞으로의 질 높은 방과 후 특별활동 교육이 이루어지기 위한 개선 방안으로 정규교육과정과 방과 후 특별활동 과정이 상호보완적 협의와 통합적 접근이 이루어져야하며 나아가 바람직한 방과 후 특별활동 과정을 위하여 수업환경 개선 및 강사의 지속적인 연수와 교육이 요구되어진다.

영등포구 보육시설의 급식 및 영양교육실태조사 (The Survey an the Nutrition Education and Food Service Managements system of the Early Childhood Education Institute in Yongdungpo)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate food service management system and nutrition education of the early childhood education institute in Yongdungpo, Seoul. Self-administered questionnaires were completed by 26 public early childhood education institute and 34 private ones. A majority of the teachers were women over 40 with at least bachelor's degree. Other than the fact that food service provides food to the children, it contributed in providing the essential nutrients to the children, as well as giving them the opportunity to learn table manners. A normal food service would provide one set of lunch and two sets of snacks, which would be provided by the institute itself. In most cases, the director or teachers planned the menus instead of dietitians. Journals, cookbooks, and other information put out by mass communication, such as TV and newspapers, were used as reference to those menus. The factors considered in planning the menus were mainly nutritional balance and the children's food preference. The difficulties in meal management were about the budget and nutritional menu planning. Fifty five percent of the subjects were did nutrition education, and they focused mainly on the table manners and hygiene education but once a year. The difficulties and complaints in execution nutrition education at the institutes were lack of nutritional knowledge, personal shortage, and excessive work. The institutes were urgently requesting for menu provisions from local Public Health Clinics. As a recommendation from the results of this study, food service management and nutrition related subjects should be more enforced into the nursery teacher training curriculum. Also, it is necessary to provide nutrition education to teachers, and as a link, the need to develop a manual for nutrition education has become urgent.

취원 유아 어머니의 삶의 만족도에 대한 부모 참 역량과 유아교육공동체 인식의 영향: 직업유무별 비교 (The Effects of Authentic Parental Competence and Awareness of the Early Childhood Educational Community on the Life Satisfaction of Mothers With Preschoolers: A Comparison of Employment Status)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of authentic parental competence and awareness of early childhood educational community on the life satisfaction of mothers with preschoolers depending on mothers' employment status. Methods: A total of 238 mothers (98 employed, 130 unemployed) whose children were attending early childhood institutes participated in a survey measuring three variables. Results and Conclusion: The findings of the study were as follows: First, there were positive correlations between authentic parental competence, awareness of early childhood educational community, and life satisfaction, regardless of employment status. Second, comparing employed mothers with unemployed mothers, a common variable affecting life satisfaction was social competence, a sub-variable of authentic parental competence. Further, self-system competence, a sub-factor of authentic parental competence, influenced life satisfaction for employed mothers, and sharing core values, a sub-variable of awareness of the early childhood educational community, influenced life satisfaction for unemployed mothers.
