  • In this study, to solve the major problem of reverse osmosis (RO) membrane, surface of reverse osmosis membrane was modified by silane-epoxy multi layer. Octyltrimethoxysilane (OcTES) was polymerized to membrane surface via cross-linking by Sol-gel method. n = 8 alkylgroup of OcTES formed the branch structure by self assembly. And for improve fouling resistance of RO membrane, Ether group of ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether (EGDE) was given to improve hydrophilicity of RO membrane surface by ring-opening. To analyze structure of RO membrane surface with FE-TEM and AFM. Membrane surface of the ridge and valley structure and the bridge structure was confirmed due to the multi-layer surface modification of OcTES and EGDE. And through the increase of the roughness, the branch structure was formed well on membrane surface. Through the XPS analysis was identified chemical structure of membrane surface. And confirmed that the hydrophilic surface modification is given to the surface of the film through a Contact angle analysis. In optimization of EGDE surface modification condition, was suitable 0.5 wt% EGDE concentraion and $70^{\circ}C$ ring-opening temperature. In result of fouling resistance test and MFI is SUL-H10, $PA-OcTES_{1.0}$, $PA-OcTES_{1.0}-EGDE_{0.5}$ 68.7, 60.4, 5.4 ($10E-8hr/mL^2$), multi-layer surface modified membrane improved fouling resistance.

  • Microbial hydrogel was prepared with poly(${\gamma}$-glutamic acid) produced from Bacillus subtilis BS62 using crosslinking reagent, ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether (EGDE), and its physico-chemical characteristics were examined. Hydrogel which prepared from 10 grams of 10% PGA solution with $600\;{\mu}l$ of EGDE at $50^{\circ}C$ for 17 h swelled 4,320 times its dry weight, and time to reach swelling equilibrium in deionized water at 4 to $45^{\circ}C$ range was about 20 h. Swollen hydrogel shrunk in ionic solutions, and rate of shrinkage was higher in calcium chloride solution than sodium chloride solution. Swelling rate of hydrogel increased 1.3-fold of initial swelling rate for 30 min at $80^{\circ}C$.

  • Acid-resistant poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) membranes connected with ethylene and ether groups were prepared via a thermal crosslinking reaction by varying the ratio of PVA to ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether (EGDE). The crosslinked membranes were characterized using FT-IR and swelling tests, respectively. Pervaporation behaviors with the PVA membranes were investigated for aqueous TFEA (2,2,2-trifluoroethanol) as a function of EGDE content and operating temperature. The pervaporation properties far MA (methacrylic acid)/water mixture were also carried out with the optimized PVA membrane. The PVA membranes prepared with EGDE showed more excellent acid-resistance than those crosslinked with gluaraldehyde. The membranes showed high permeation fluxes of 0.1 and $0.3\;km^2h$ and high separation factors of 100 and 900 in the $96\;wt\%$ TFEA and MA aqueous fred mixtures at high temperature above $80^{\circ}C$, respectively. These confirmed theses membranes could be used in esterification membrane reactor process for the production of 2,2,2-trifluoroethylmetacrylate (TFEMA).

  • Polyelectrolytes of various ionization degrees, which are prepared by neutralization of poly(acrylic acid)(PAA), were crosslinked by ethylane glycol diglycidyl ether(EGDE) in aqueous solution. $C_{gel}$, the minimum polymer concentration at which gelation occurs, was higher than expected. $C_{gel}$ was comparable with that of neutral polymer. This is considered to be due to the size contraction of polyelectrolyte, which comes from ionic strength increase as polymer concentration is increased. $C_{gel}$ is low when molecular weight of the sample becomes high. It reveals that polyelectrolyte is crosslinked in coil form not in extended rod form. This behavior is similar to the crosslinking of neutral polymers. Polyelectrolytes of partially ionized sample generally follow the behavior of fully ionized polyelectrolyte. Polyelectrolyte with added salt was also studied. Considering the pH dependence of EDGE reactivity it was difficult to compare the system which differs in pH significantly.

  • This study discusses an esterification of trifluoroethanol (TFEA) with methacrylic acid (MA) using acid-resistant PVA pervaporation membrane. The acid-resistant PVA membranes, which were prepared via a thermal cross-linking reaction of PVA and EGDE were adopted in the esterification reaction. The effect of reaction conditions such as temperature, acid catalyst content, and initial molar ratio of TFEA/MA was investigated on the conversion of trifluoroethyl-methacrylate (TFEMA). It was found that TFEMA conversion increased with increasing the reaction temperature, the catalyst content, and the initial molar ratio. The economical conversion of TFEMA more than about 90% was obtained at the following reaction conditions: reaction temperature of $90^{\circ}C$, 2.5 wt% of catalyst and initial molar ratio of 1.7.

  • The biocompatibility and biodegradability of poly(amino acid) make them ideal candidates for many bio-related applications. Poly(aspartic acid), PASP, is one of synthetic water-soluble polymers with proteinlike structure, and has been extensively explored for the potential industrial and biomedical applications due to its biodegradable, biocompatible and pH-responsive properties. In this work, amino acid-conjugated PASPs were prepared by aminolysis reaction onto polysuccinimide (PSI) using ${\gamma}$-aminobutylic acid(GABA) and ${\beta}$-alanine methyl ester and a subsequent hydrolysis process. Their chemical gels were prepared by crosslinking reaction with ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether (EGDE). The hydrogels were investigated for their basic swelling behavior, hydrolytic degradation and morphology. The crosslinked gels showed a responsive swelling behavior, which was dependent on pH and salt concentration in aqueous solution, and relatively fast hydrolytic degradation.

  • The error diffusion is good for reproducing continuous image to binary image. However the reproduction of edge characteristics is weak in power spectrum analysis of display error. It is suggested for us an edge-enhanced error-diffusion method that is included pre-processing algorithm for edge characteristic enhancement. Pre-processing algorithm is organized horizontal and vertical directional 2nd order differential values and weighting function of pre-filter. The improved Error diffusion using pre-filter, presents a good results visually which edge characteristics is enhanced. The performance of the proposed algorithm is compared with that of the conventional edge-enhanced error diffusion by measuring the RAPSD of display error, the egde correlation and the local average accordance.

  • If one express the basio equations of electromagne tics in terms of differential form, one can have many physical meanings. To obtain this advantages in Finite Element Method, we should use new element. In this study, we select degree of freedom as circulation A along edges of the mesh, and use Egde Element because A is i-form. We apply this method to some examples of the 3-D magnetostatics, and obtain decrease of total nonzeros and increase of accuracy.
