In this paper, we propose a new dynamic reconfiguration method using application-level checkpointing in a grid computing environment with Cactus and Globus. The existing dynamic reconfiguration methods have been dependent on a specific hardware and operating system. But the proposed method performs a dynamic reconfiguration without supporting specific hardwares and operating systems and, an application is programmed without considering a dynamic reconfiguration. In the proposed method, the job starts with an initial configuration of Computing resources and the job restarts including new resources dynamically found at run-time. The proposed method determines whether to include the newly found idle sites by considering processor performance and available memory of the sites. Our method writes the intermediate results of the job on the disks using system-independent application-level checkpointing for real-time visualization during the job runs. After reconfiguring idle sites and idle processors newly found, the job resumes using checkpointing files. The proposed dynamic reconfiguration method is proved to be valid by decreasing total execution time In K*Grid.
In this paper, we first design the block diagram of the components for multi-mode SDR terminal based on SCA technology. It support both WIMAX mode and HSDPA mode. Then from the result of the analysis with a real SDR terminal implementation, we analyze which components of it have to be more lightweight. In addition we derive the general formula for the measure of dynamic reconfiguration time on the reconfiguration of the components. Finally we present a dynamic component-level reconfiguration algorithm with 22 stages based on the result of our analysis without violating the interface and procedure of SCA specification.
For 24 hours-7 days service on distributed systems, a great deal of efforts are investigated on high availability for seamless operation. In this paper, we propose a dynamic reconfiguration framework of distributed systems, called "hot-swapping" framework. This framework allows us to upgrade and exchange a number of modules of a distributed system without stopping running service as well as the system itself. In order to hide the state of service operation, the framework employes the "proxy" design pattern. Our framework provides two types of proxies: a static proxy and a dynamic proxy, Static proxies can achieve fast execution time, but they need to be changed whenever any minor change exists in the related swappable module. Meanwhile, dynamic proxies takes longer execution time, but do not need to be changed under minor changes of swappable modules. We compare performances of static and dynamic proxies and also apply the framework to a real situation with security management modules. management modules.
Software reconfigurable radio will give future users a number of benefits like global roaming, multi mode, multi band, and multi standard. It will also offer complete programmability and reconfigurability to both multi mode and multi functional communication terminal and network nodes. This configuration will be implemented by application of different combination of radio configurable software. In this paper, It proposes the algorithm needed for reconfiguration with basic explanation of the software download. A description of an implementation such reconfiguration processes as partial download and full download and critical and non-critical download installation using the registration table in included.
This paper is concerned with distributed INGRES database system. The main motivation is to provide dynamic reconfiguration and global database consistency. Dynamic reconfiguration will provide proper initial environment to newly generated system. By use of transaction characteristic, database can be maintained in consistent state.

It requires a great deal of efforts to maintain a distributed system. What is important here is that we should be able to upgrade/maintain a distributed system without stopping the system in operation. For this, what we need is a dynamic reconfigurable framework for highly available distributed systems. In this paper, we propose objects-hot-swapping methods as a solution to our problem. These methods permit us to dynamically upgrade/expand a system without stopping the system in operation. In addition, we analyze these methods and show that an approach based on proxy is the most efficient. Furthermore, we propose two proxy-based approaches: the first one based on the static proxy provides for a fast execution time but it is difficult to implement. The second one based on the dynamic proxy provides for a slow execution time but it is easier to implement. Finally, we propose a hot swapping framework for these static and dynamic proxy.
Modeling and simulation techniques construct experimental environment considering battlefields and are able to analyze performance of components of weapon system that closely resemble reality. However, developed model has low scalability and not cared reusability because it has been used only in a limited range of domain. In this paper, we develop a verification tool to verify reusability of developed component for dynamic reconfiguration and to judge scalability of it and a management tool to control data of it effectively. In addition, dynamic reconfiguration architecture of guided weapon systems designed in the previous study has been applied to SAM(Surface to Air Missile) System Simulator, and we study effectiveness of the developed component. Thus the user can configure various guided weapon systems through simulation application of dynamic reconfiguration architecture of component.
In this paper, we propose a parallel deblocking filter algorithm for H.264/AVC video standard. The deblocking filter has different filter processes according to boundary strength (BS) and each filter process requires various conditional calculations. The order of filtering makes it difficult to parallelize deblocking filter calculations. The proposed deblocking filter algorithm is performed on PRAGRAM which is a 1-D coarse grained reconfigurable architecture (CGRA). Each filter calculation is accelerated using uni-directional pipelined architecture of PRAGRAM. The filter selection and the conditional calculations are efficiently performed using dynamic reconfiguration and conditional reconfiguration. The parallel deblocking filter algorithm uses 225 cycles to process a macroblock and it can process a full HD image at 150 MHz.
Advances in computer and network technology provide new computing environment that were only possible with supercomputers before. In order to provide the environment, a distributed runtime system has to be provided, but most of the conventional distributed runtime systems lack in providing dynamic and flexible system reconfiguration depending on workload variance, due to a static architecture of fixed master node and slave working nodes. This paper proposes and implements a new model for distributed job allocation and management which is a distributed runtime system is P2P environment for flexible and dynamic system reconfiguration. The implemented systems enables job program transfer and management, remote compile and execution among cooperative developers based on P2P standard protocol Jxta platform. Since it makes dynamic and flexible system reconfiguration possible, the proposed method has some advantages in that it can collect and utilize idle computing resources immediately at a needed time for distributed job processing. Moreover, the implemented system's effectiveness and performance increase are shown by applying and processing the crawler jobs, in a distributed way, for collecting a large amount of data needed for internet search.
