Dynamic loading of structures often causes excursions of stresses will into the inelastic range and the influence of geometry changes on the response is also significant in may cases. In general , the shell structures designed according to quasi-Static analysis may collapse under condition of dynamic loading. Therefore, for a more realistic prediction on the lad carrying capacity of these shell. both material and geometric nonlinear effects should be considered. In this study , the material nonlinearity effect on the dynamic response is formulated by the elasto-viscoplastic model highly corresponding to the real behavior of the material. Also, the geometrically nonlinear behavior is taken into account using a Total Lagrangian formulation. the reinforcing bars are modeled by the equivalent steel layer at the location of reinforcements, and Von Mises yield criteria is adopted for the steel layer behavior. Also, Drucker-Prager yield criteria is applied for the behavior of concrete. the shape imperfection of dome is assumed as 'dimple type' which can be expressed Wd1=Wd0(1-(r-a)m)n while the shape imperfection of wall is assumed as sinusoidal curve which is Wwi =Wwo sin(n $\pi$y/l). In numerical test, three cases of shape imperfection of 0.0 -5.0cm(opposite direction to loading ; inner shape imperfection)and 5cm (direction to loading : outward shape imperfection) and thickness of steel layer determined by steel ratio of 0,3, and 5% were analyzed. The effect of shape imperfection and steel ratio and behavior characteristics of perfect shape shell and imperfect shape shell are identified through analysis of above mentioned numerical test. Dynamic behaviors of dome and wall according toe combination of shape imperfection and steel ratio are also discussed in this paper.
The vane method was used to measure yield stresses of five commercial kochujang samples under a controlled shear-rate operating condition. Magnitudes of vane yield stress were higher than those of yield stress using Casson model with a concentric cylinder viscometer. Magnitudes of vane yield stresses showed great differences between the static $({\sigma}_s)$ and dynamic yield stresses $({\sigma}_d)$ of kochujang samples with undisturbed structure (UDS) and with broken down structure (BDS). A dimensionless yield number $(N{\sigma}_o)$ was determined from the ratio of ${\sigma}s$ to ${\sigma}d$ in order to describe the existence of temporary structure of kochujang.

Coprecipitation using hydrous ferric oxide (HFO) has been effectively used for the removal of radionuclides from radioactive wastewater. This work studied the dynamic behavior of HFO floc formation during the neutralization of acidic ferric iron in the presence of several radionuclides by using a photometric dispersion analyzer (PDA). Then the coagulation-flocculation system using HFO-anionic poly acrylamide (PAM) composite floc system was evaluated and compared in seawater and distilled water to find the effective condition to remove the target nuclides (Co-60, Mn-54, Sb-125, and Ru-106) present in wastewater generated in the severe accident of nuclear power plant like Fukushima Daiichi case. A ferric iron dosage of 10 ppm for the formation of HFO was suitable in terms of fast formation of HFO flocs without induction time, and maximum total removal yield of radioactivity from the wastewater. The settling time of HFO flocs was reduced by changing them to HFO-PAM composite floc. The optimal dosage of anionic PAM for HFO-anionic PAM floc system was approximately 1-10 ppm. The total removal yield of Mn-54, Co-60, Sb-125, Ru-106 radionuclides by the HFO-anionic PAM coagulation-flocculation system was higher in distilled water than in seawater and was more than 99%.
The atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration is ever-increasing and expected to reach about 600 ppmv some time during next century. Such an increase of $CO_2$ may cause a warming of the earth's surface of 1.5 to 4.5$^{\circ}C$, resulting in great changes in natural and agricultural ecosystems. The climatic scenario under doubled $CO_2$ projected by general circulation model of Goddard Institute for Space Studies(GISS) was adopted to evaluate the potential impact of climate change on agroclimatic resources, net primary productivity and rice productivity in Korea. The annual mean temperature was expected to rise by 3.5 to 4.$0^{\circ}C$ and the annual precipitation to vary by -5 to 20% as compared to current normal climate (1951 to 1980), resulting in the increase of possible duration of crop growth(days above 15$^{\circ}C$ in daily mean temperature) by 30 to 50 days and of effective accumulated temperature(EAT=∑Ti, Ti$\geq$1$0^{\circ}C$) by 1200 to 150$0^{\circ}C$. day which roughly corresponds to the shift of its isopleth northward by 300 to 400 km and by 600 to 700 m in altitude. The hydrological condition evaluated by radiative dryness index (RDI =Rn/ $\ell$P) is presumed to change slightly. The net primary productivity under the 2$\times$$CO_2$ climate was estimated to decrease by 3 to 4% when calculated without considering the photosynthesis stimulation due to $CO_2$ enrichment. Empirical crop-weather model was constructed for national rice yield prediction. The rice yields predicted by this model under 2 $\times$$CO_2$ climatic scenario at the technological level of 1987 were lower by 34-43% than those under current normal climate. The parameters of MACROS, a dynamic simulation model from IRRI, were modified to simulate the growth and development of Korean rice cultivars under current and doubled $CO_2$ climatic condition. When simulated starting seedling emergence of May 10, the rice yield of Hwaseongbyeo(medium maturity) under 2 $\times$$CO_2$ climate in Suwon showed 37% reduction compared to that under current normal climate. The yield reduction was ascribable mainly to the shortening of vegetative and ripening period due to accelerated development by higher temperature. Any simulated yields when shifted emergence date from April 10 to July 10 with Hwaseongbyeo (medium maturity) and Palgeum (late maturity) under 2 $\times$$CO_2$ climate did not exceed the yield of Hwaseongbyeo simulated at seedling emergence on May 10 under current climate. The imaginary variety, having the same characteristics as those of Hwaseongbyeo except growth duration of 100 days from seedling emergence to heading, showed 4% increase in yield when simulated at seedling emergence on May 25 producing the highest yield. The simulation revealed that grain yields of rice increase to a greater extent under 2$\times$$CO_2$-doubled condition than under current atmospheric $CO_2$ concentration as the plant type becomes more erect.
Poly(o-ethoxy)aniline (PEOA)/organoclay nanocomposite was prepared via a solvent intercalation using chloroform as a cosolvent with organically modified montmorillonite (OMMT) clay. The PEOA initially synthesized from a chemical oxidation polymerization in an acidic condition at pH = 1 was intercalated into interlayers of the clay with $25\;wt{\%}$ clay content. Electrical conductivity of the PEOA/OMMT nanocomposite was found to be controlled via the intercalating process. The synthesized PEOA/OMMT nanocomposite was characterized via an XRD and a TGA, and then adopted as an electrorheological (ER) material. The PEOA/OMMT synthesized with controllable electrical conductivity without a dedoping process was found to show typical ER characteristics possessing a yield stress from both steady state and dynamic measurements under an applied electric field.

The prediction of the inelastic behavior of the structure is an essential part of reliability assessment procedure, because most of the failures are induced by the inelastic deformation, such as creep and plastic deformation. During decades, there has been much progress in understanding of the inelastic behavior of the materials and a lot of inelastic constitutive equations have been developed. The complexity of these constitutive equations generally requires a stable and accurate numerical method. The radial return mapping is one of the most robust integration scheme currently used. Nonlinear kinematic hardening model of Armstrong-Fredrick type has recovery term and the direction of kinematic hardening increment is not parallel to that of plastic strain increment. In this case, The conventional radial return mapping method cannot be applied directly. In this investigation, we expanded the radial return mapping method to consider the nonlinear kinematic hardening model and implemented this integration scheme into ABAQUS by means of UMAT subroutine. The solution of the non-linear system of algebraic equations arising from time discretization with the generalized midpoint rule is determined using Newton method and bisection method. Using dynamic yield condition derived from linearization of flow rule, the integration scheme for elastoplastic and viscoplastic constitutive model was unified. Several numerical examples are considered to demonstrate the efficiency and applicability of the present method.

The static and dynamic structural integrity qualification was performed through the seismic analysis of a small-size Savonius-type vertical wind turbine at dead weight plus wind load and seismic loads. The ANSYS finite element program was used to develop the FEM model of the wind turbine and to accomplish static, modal, and dynamic frequency response analyses. The stress of the wind turbine structure for each wind load and dead weight was calculated and combined by taking the square root of the sum of the squares (SRSS) to obtain static stresses. Seismic response spectrum analysis was also carried out in the horizontal (X and Y) and vertical (Z) directions to determine the response stress distribution for the required response spectrum (RRS) at safe-shutdown earthquake with a 5% damping (SSE-5%) condition. The stress resulting from the seismic analysis in each of the three directions was combined with the SRSS to yield dynamic stresses. These static and dynamic stresses were summed by using the same SRSS. Finally, this total stress was compared with the allowable stress design, which was calculated based on the requirements of the KBC 2009, KS C IEC 61400-1, and KS C IEC 61400-2 codes.

When a thin walled member is subjected to compression in a condition such as collision, the energy is mainly absorbed by axial crumpling. In this case, dynamic crushing strength of the member is increased due to the effects of strain-rate compared with the static strength, even though the inertia effect is neglected. In this paper, the method of predicting the static crushing for tubular members is presented using the kinematic method of plasticity. Since, a predicted crushing load, taking account of the dynamic yield stress, usually overestimates the effects of strain-rate, the average plastic flow stress for the effects of strain-rate is used to obtain the dynamic crushing load for tubular members. The analytical results are compared with the experiments published in references, and a good correlation is observed.
A 2-D unconfined flow model is developed to analyze annual variations of groundwater level and bank filtration rate (BFR) for an experimental riverbank filtration site in Koryeong, Korea. Two types of boundary conditions are examined for the river boundary in the conceptual model: the static head condition that uses the average water level of the river and the dynamic cyclic condition that incorporates annual fluctuation of water level. Simulations show that the estimated BFR ranges $74.3{\sim}87.0%$ annually with the mean of 82.4% for the static head boundary condition and $52.7{\sim}98.1%$ with the mean of 78.5% for the dynamic cyclic condition. The results illustrate that the dynamic cyclic condition should be used for accurate evaluation of BFR. Simulations also show that increase of the distance between the river and the pumping wells slightly decreases BFR up to 4%, and thereby indicate that it is not a critical factor to be accounted for in designing BFR of the bank filtration system. A sensitivity analysis is performed to examine the effects of model parameters such as hydraulic conductivity and specific yield of the aquifer, recharge rate, and pumping rate. The results demonstrate that the average groundwater level and BFR are most sensitive to both the pumping rate and the recharge rate, while the water level of the pumping wells is sensitive to the hydraulic conductivity and the pumping rate.

The maximum output torque developed by the machine is dependent on the allowable current rating and maximum voltage that the inverter can supply to the machine. Therefore, to use the inverter capacity fully, it is desirable to use the control scheme considering the voltage and current limit condition, which can yield the maximum torque per ampere over the entire speed range. This controller is controlled speed and current using hybrid PI(HBPI) controller and estimation of speed using ANN. Also, this paper is proposed maximum torque control of induction motor using slip angular speed and current condition at widely speed range. The performance of the proposed induction motor drive with maximum torque control using HBPI controller is verified by analysis results at dynamic operation conditions.
