The area of gear dynamics has recently been the focus of many studies. A new tooth profile modification was proposed by author for reducing vibration and noise of involute gears. A comparative dynamic analysis of the gear drive with the involute tooth and the modified tooth profile(using cubic splines) is performed to the unuformal transmission error reduces the gear vibration and noise due to less dynamic tooth load variation during the meshing cycle. This work also include a gear design process by the meaning of a practical approach, such as Win95 based simulation program with all using basic geardesign variables. Especially this program enables gear designers to dynamic analysis based on G.U.I.
A new method for simulating voltage and current distributions in transmission lines is described. It gives the time domain solution of the terminal voltage and current as well as their line distributions. This is achieved by treating voltage and current distributions as distributed state variables (DSVs) and turning the transmission line equation into an ordinary differential equation. Thus the transmission line is treated like other lumped dynamic components, such as capacitors. Using backward differentiation formulae for time discretization, the DSV transmission line component is converted to a simple time domain companion model, from which its local truncation error can be derived. As the voltage and current distributions get more complicated with time, a new piecewise exponential with controllable accuracy is invented. A segmentation algorithm is also devised so that the line is dynamically bisected to guarantee that the total piecewise exponential error is a small fraction of the local truncation error. Using this approach, the user can see the line voltage and current at any point and time freely without explicitly segmenting the line before starting the simulation.
Nonlinear behavior analysis was used to verify whether a one-way clutch is effective for reducing the torsional vibration of a paired spur gear system under periodic excitation. The dynamic responses were studied over a wide frequency range by speed sweeping to check the nonlinear behavior using numerical integration. The gear system with a one-way clutch showed typical nonlinear behavior. The oscillating component of the dynamic transmission error was reduced over the entire frequency range compared to a system without a one-way clutch. The one-way clutch also eliminated unsteady continuous jump phenomena over multiple solution bands, and prevented double-side contact, even with very small backlash. Installing a one-way clutch on both sides of the gear system was more effective at mitigating the negative effects of external periodic excitation and various parameter changes than a conventional gear system without a one-way clutch.

Even through the problem of misalignment is of great importance, not much work has been reported in the literature on the effect of misalignment on the vibrations of the gear-bearing systems. Therefore, the nonlinear dynamic characteristics of the gear driving system due to misalignment are investigated in this work. Transmission error for helical gear and bearing nonlinear stiffness is calculated. (omitted)

Transmission error for a stepping motor-timing belt drive system is investigated experimentally and analytically. From FFT analysis of the experimental results, it is found that the transmission error consists of three periodic errors : (1) error by the stepping motor per one resolution angle theta.$_{m}$, (2) error by the pulley eccentricity per one revolution theta.$_{e}$, and (3) error by the meshing effect between the belt and the pulley teeth per one pitch revoltion theta.$_{p}$. In order to investigate the effects of some design parameters on the transmission error, the dynamic models of the stepping motor-timing belt drive system are derived by Bondgraph. According to the simulation results, as the belt total tension increases, theta.$_{m}$ and theta.$_{e}$ decrease due to the nonlinearity of the belt. In adition, the numerical and experimental results show that theta.$_{m}$ and theta.$_{e}$ of the loaded case are larger than those of the unloaded case. The analytical results are in good accordance with the experimental results.sults.s.sults.

Ball screws are used in the feeding system for transmission of driving force. The friction effect between bed and table, which can affect in accuracyin one dimension feeding and describe the dynamic feeding error, could be simplified as a specific model through experiments. The experiments for dynamic feeding errors were performed om tje NC lathe eith a ball screw. The errors in feeding were measured with respect to the variances of feed, spindle speed and motor current for feeding. A rotary encoder and a current sensor were installed with NC lathe.
In this study, a robust controller to control pressure in a pneumatic pressure vessel considering dynamic characteristics of pneumatic transmission line is proposed. Dynamic characteristics of transmission line using compressible fluid is changed by the flowing states of the fluid. So, if the fixed gain controller is designed based on a fixed model, the performance of the control system could be destabilized or degraded. The controller designed in this study is composed of two parts. The one is to reject modelling error based on the disturbance observer, the other is to obtain the control performance. The control results with the designed controller show that the robustness of the control system is achieved regardless of the change of the model of the transmission line. Therefore, the designed controller can be utilized for the performance improvement of the pressure control system using compressible fluid such as air and gas

A six-degree-of-freedom dynamic model with time-varying mesh stiffness/damping and friction has been developed for the dynamic analysis of a gear driving system. This model includes a spur gear pair, bearing, friction and prime mover. Using Newton???s method, equations of motion for the gear driving system were derived. Two computer programs are developed to calculate mesh stiffness, transmission error and friction force and analyze the dynamics of the modeled system using a time integration method. The influences of mesh stiffness/damping, bearing, and friction affecting the system were investigated by performing eigenvalue analysis and time response analysis. It is found that the reduction of the maximum peak magnitude by friction is decided according to designing the positions of pitch point and maximum peak in the responses.

Dynamic as well as static and geometric design parameters such as inertia, tooth profile, backlash and clearance can be directly considered via multi-body dynamic analysis along with contact analysis. However, it is time consuming to use finite elements for the consideration of the tooth flexibility in the multi-body dynamic analysis of gears. A computationally efficient procedure, so called, Gear Stiffness Module, is suggested to resolve this calculation time issue. The characteristics of gear tooth compliance are discussed and rotational stiffness element concept for the Gear Stiffness Module is presented. Transmission error analyses for a spur gear system are carried out to validate the reliability and efficiency of the module. Compared with the finite element model, the Gear Stiffness Module yields considerably similar results and takes only 3% of calculation time.

With the increase of demand for electricity power, new construction and expansion of transmission lines for transport have been required. However, it has been difficult to be realized by such opposition from environmental groups and residents. Therefore, the development of techniques for effective use of existing transmission lines is more needed. In this paper, the major variables to affect the allowable transmission capacity in an overhead transmission lines were selected and the dynamic line rating (DLR) method using artificial neural networks reflecting unique environment-heat properties was proposed. To prove the proposed method, the analyzed results using the artificial neural network were compared with the ones obtained from the existing method. The analyzed results using the proposed method showed an error of 0.9% within ${\pm}$, which was to be practicable.
