  • Congestion control is a critical issue in TCP networks, Recently, active queue management (AQM) was proposed for congestion control at routers. The random early detection RED algorithm is widely known in the AQM algorithms, We present an adaptive nonlinear RED (NRED) algorithm, which has nonlinear drop probability profile. The proposed algorithm enhanced the performance of the RED algorithm by the self-parameterization based on the traffic load Furthermore, the proposed algorithm can effectively adapt itself between he RED and the drop-tail queue management by adopting proper nonlinearity in the drop probability profile. Through simulation, we show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm comparing with the drop-tail and the original RED algorithm.

  • The importance of cost reduction has grown bigger to ensure the competetive power of products in the electric home appliances industry. Thus, it is necessary to assess the reliability due to drop-impact happenning in process of distribution of microwave ovens with the panel and cavity of thinner thickness for cost reduction. In the present study, the drop/impact simulation using the explicit code LS-DYNA3D has been carried out for improving the impact resistance of a microwave oven. This CAE-based design approach can be successfully applied to enhance the deteriorated dynamic behavior under the impact conditions of dropping height 70cm according to ISTA procedure 2A.

  • This thesis is simulated a aircraft nose landing gear drop-test. flow rate-to-pressure difference characteristics of damping orifices for a nose landing gear is investigated by CFD analyses. Orifice is kind of poppet valve type. it is simulated pressure drop with variable orifice area. it is simulated landing gear model by using ADAMS with CFD result. It's performance evaluated landing gear drop-test and analyzed the results.

  • We present a direct numerical simulation technique and some preliminary results of the capillary spreading of a droplet containing particles on the solid substrate. We used the level-set method with the continuous surface stress for description of droplet spreading with interfacial tension and employed the discontinuous Galerkin method for the stabilization of the interface advection equation. The distributed Lagrangian-multipliers method has been combined for the implicit treatment of rigid particles. We investigated the droplet spreading by the capillary force and discussed effects of the presence of particles on the spreading behavior. It has been observed that a particulate drop spreads less than the pure liquid drop. The amount of spread of a particulate drop has been found smaller than that of the liquid with effectively the same viscosity as the particulate drop.

  • The instantaneous voltage drop is occurred when the fault is happened on the nearby feeders. The instantaneous voltage drop is continued during relatively short period. But, the effect of it can be very severe to some sensitive devices. That is, it can be the reason of restart or malfunction of some devices. And these phenomenons can cause the enormous economical damage and shorten the lifetime of the devices. In this paper, the device which can compensate the instantaneous voltage drop, is studied. Through the computer simulation using PSCAD/EMTDC, the validity of the control algorithm using peak detection method is verified. And the Dynamic Voltage Restorer(DVR) prototype is designed and constructed. Through the experiment, the function and performance of the DVR prototype is verified.

  • Since the Internet-based real-time Global Positioning System(GPS) synchronized widearea power system frequency monitoring network (FNET) was proposed in 2001, it has been monitoring the power system frequency in interconnected United States power systems and numerous interesting behaviors have been observed, including frequency excursion propagation. We address the consistency of a frequency excursion detection order of frequency disturbance recorders in FNET in relation to the same generation trip, as well as the ability to recreate by power systems dynamic simulation. We also propose a new method, as an application of FNET measurement, to locate a tripped generator using power systems dynamic simulation and wide-area frequency measurement. The simulation database of all the possible trips of generators in the interconnected power systems is created using the off-line power systems dynamic simulation. When FNET detects a sudden drop in the monitoring frequency, which is most likely due to a generation trip in power systems, the proposed algorithm locates a tripped generator by finding the best matching case of the measured frequency excursion in the simulation database in terms of the frequency drop detection order and the time of monitoring points.

  • The objective of this paper is to provide design data of fin-tube heat exchanger which have a large diameter oval tube for dryer application. In this study, the heat transfer and pressure drop performance characteristics of the fin-tube heat exchanger were compared with Dittus-Boelter and a new correlation equation using Wilson plot method. The simulation results based on section by section method were compared with experimental results. These results showed that a new correlation equation using Wilson plot method provided better prediction, about 3 to 12%, than the Dittus-Boelter equation, from the experiment comparison. Also, the pressure drop of simulation results showed much more deviation with the experimental results.
