A Convergence Study through Durability Analysis due to the Shaft Length of Automotive Constant Velocity Joint (자동차 등속 조인트 샤프트 길이에 따른 내구성 해석을 통한 융합연구)

  • The driving methods of car are front wheel drive, rear wheel drive and four wheel drive. At driving methods, constant velocity joint is the most important part at carrying out two functions for converting to the direction which the driver wants and transferring the power to wheels. At driving on the road, the impact can be applied to the parts transmitting power according to the state of road surface. In this study, each models of three constant velocity joints whose shaft length are different respectively were modelled with CATIA and the structural and fatigue analyses were carried out by using ANSYS. This study result is thought to be the useful material at designing the constant velocity joint with the durability against impact. And it is possible to be grafted onto the convergence technique at the design of constant velocity joint and show the esthetic sense.

  • In order to prevent a router machine feed drive system from transient operational vibration, this paper presents vibration analysis of a rack and pinion typed feed drive system for a router machine. The feed drive system was mathematically idealized as a 5-degree-of-freedom lumped parameter model. Stiffness parameters of motor-shaft, rack and pinion gears, and machine structure were appropriately considered in the modeling. Computational experiment was carried out to obtain vibrations of the feed drive system during its transient speed operation.

  • Switched Reluctance Motors have an inexpensive, intrinsic simplicity and low cost that makes them well suited to home appliance and office applications. However the motor suffering with necessity of shaft position sensor, lead to non-linearity of operations. Further, the involvement of static converters deteriorates the operational power factor. Implementation of a sensorless algorithm, can remove the need of position sensors. Also, the drive includes a compact power factor control in the input stage by implementing Zero Current Switching Quasi-Resonant Boost Technology. This paper presented, aims at optimized low line current distortion, high power factor, low cost and a shaft position sensorless Switched Reluctance Motor drive.

  • The purpose of this study is to reduce the vibration noise of differential gear by reducing torque fluctuation of drive pinion shaft which causes vibration noise of differential gear in rear wheel drive vehicles. For this we developed multi-degree of freedom analysis model in which mass moment of inertia and torsional spring combined, the validity of the simulation model was checked by the field test and we examined the influence of torsional vibration of driveline elements by performing forced vibration analysis of engine excitation torque. We studied the methods for reducing torsional vibration of driveline according to the design factor of propeller shaft and examined the effects reducing vibration differential gear by applying flexible coupling.

  • Presently, rapidly changing and unstable global economic environments demand engineers. Products should be designed to increase profits by lowering costs and provide distinguished performance compared with competitors. This study aims to optimize the design of the power-transmission drive shaft. The mass is reduced as an objective function, and the stress is constrained under a constant value. To reduce the number of experiments, CCD (central composite design) and D-Optimal are used for the experimental design. RSM (response surface methodology) is employed to construct a regression model for the objective functions and constraint function. In this problem, there is only one objective function for the mass. The other objective function gives 1; thus, NSGA-II is used.

  • Cold Forging has advantage in high accuracy and short working time. However large-skzed and complicated parts are difficult to process with cold forging. Thus large-sized and complicated parts have been processed with two pieces, or combind forging that is hot forging in addition to cold sizing. Recently, large-sized and complicated parts can be manufactured with cold forging alone by advanced cold forging technology using the long-stroke press. In this paper, cold forging technology of large-sized and complicated parts are investigated, including tripod slide housing for constant velocity joint and drive shaft for starter.

Development of Ridger and Vinyl Mulcher for Power Tiller (경운기 부착 휴립, 비닐 피복 동시작업기 개발)

  • Ridger and vinyl mulcher for 8-10 PS power tiller which were distributed at the rate of one out of 2.3 farm households in Korea, was developed to ease the labor shortage of tobacco production. Devices wheel shaft extension by 30cm at both sides improved the stability of straight drive and enabled to save required labor hours by 50% for ridging at sloping field. Screw type blades were attached on center drive rotavator shaft, gear set was deviled to reverse the rotavator, and it was good at need to adjust the width and height for ridge. As the results, required labor hours for ridging and vinyl mulching could be saved by 90% as compared to conventional manual method after cattle plowing, and by 50% as compared to conventional power tiller method.

  • Induction hardening process of tubular drive shaft for automobile is simulated by combining the thermal, mechanical, electro-magnetic and metallurgical analysis models. Various material properties for each analysis model are obtained in a consistent way via material properties calculation software, JMatPro®. To consider the scanning process of induction heating, boundary element method is adopted for electro-magnetic field calculation. The distribution of temperature, stress and phase volume fraction are tracked out through the whole process and the effect of scanning velocity is reviewed. The analysis result shows that the critical principal stress is developed at the phase boundary where martensite is formed.

  • Idle NVH characteristics are one of the most important aspects among the vehicle performances. Vehicle developers are devoted to improve vehicle interior noise and steering wheel and seat vibrations. In order to improve the idle quality, noise and vibration transfer path should be carefully evaluated. Also, effects of various components related to the idle performance should be confirmed. A general procedure for improving the idle qualify is described in detail. The relationship among cylinder pressure characteristics, crankshaft rotational speed variation, and vehicle vibrations is also investigated. Influences of drive shaft, torque converter, air conditioning system, vehicle structure including engine mount system, and idle control parameters on the vehicle idle quality are studied. Weak points of typical vehicles on the idle qualify are identified. Some of improvement measures are proposed and verified.
