The effect of rectangular and T-shaped stiffeners on the seismic performance of CFDT columns

  • Due to the many advantages of concrete-filled double steel tube (CFDT) columns, they are highly recommended for use in heavy-load structures such as bridges, subway stations, and high-rise buildings. This study was carried out with the aim of numerically investigating and comparing the performance of CFDT columns under cyclic and seismic loads and providing innovative strengthening methods for CFDT columns. Hollow circular steel sections have been used for internal and external tubes. To make the circular CFDT columns stronger against seismic loads, stiffeners with different shapes (rectangular and T-shaped sheets) have been welded to the outside and inside tubes. The validated finite element (FE) model of the ABAQUS program is used to look into the behavior of CFDT columns numerically. Two frames of 10 and 20 floors with strengthened CFDT columns were modeled. The results showed that the use of stiffeners in the CFDT column has a significant effect on seismic performance, so that the maximum lateral load of the column is increased up to 32.74% under the effect of cyclic load. Also, the results revealed that the use of stiffeners in the columns of moderate and high-rise building frames causes a significant increase in the shear of the base and consequently the stiffness. Among the other important results that followed, it reduced the drift of floors and increased energy absorption.

Effects of Bromelain and Double Emulsion on the Physicochemical Properties of Pork Loin

  • Our aim was to investigate the effects of bromelain embedded in double emulsion (DE) on physicochemical properties of pork loin. We evaluated DE characteristics such as size, zeta potential, and microscopy after fabrication. We marinated meat with distilled water (DW), 1% (w/v) bromelain solution, blank DE, and 1% (w/v) bromelain loaded in double emulsion (DE E) for 0, 24, 48, and 72 h at 4℃, and prepared raw meat for control. The marinated samples were assessed for color, water holding capacity, cooking loss, moisture content, pH, protein solubility, Warner-Bratzler shear force (WBSF) and gel electrophoresis. The droplet size of 1% (w/v) bromelain embedded in DE was increased compared with blank DE (p<0.05) and values of zeta potential decreased. The increase in lightness and color difference range of the DE-treated group was lower than that of the DW-treated group (p<0.05). Moreover, treatment by immersion in 1% (w/v) DE E resulted in the highest water holding capacity values (p<0.05) and lower cooking loss values than water base treatment (p<0.05). Results for myofibrillar protein solubility and WBSF showed a similar trend. 1% (w/v) DE E showed degradation of myosin heavy chain after 48 h in sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Thus, bromelain-loaded DE is useful for controlling and handling enzyme activity in food industry.

강판과 콘크리트 접착계면의 파괴거동 및 박리특성 (Failure Behavior and Separation Criterion for Strengthened Concrete Members with Steel Plates)

  • 기존 철근콘크리트 구조물에 대한 보강 방법으로서 강판접착공법은 강판의 박리나 rip-off 등 조기 파괴의 문제점을 안고 있음에도 불구하고 가장 널리 이용되고 있다. 그러나, 아직까지도 이러한 조기 파괴 문제점은 강판 단부의 접착계면 주위의 국부적인 파괴메커니즘 관점에서 파악되지 않고 있다. 그러므로, 이 연구에서는 보강판의 파괴 메카니즘을 구명하고 접착계면에서의 박리기준을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 이러한 목적으로 두 가지 방법에 의한 광범위한 실험이 수행되었는데, 그 하나가 순수 전단력이 작용하는 상태를 고려한 double lap pull-out test이고, 또 다른 하나는 휨과 전단이 동시에 작용하는 상태를 고려한 half beam test이다. 주요 실험변수로 강판의 두께, 접착제의 두께, 부착길이, 그리고 단부 처리방법 등을 채택하였으며, 이를 토대로 하여 각 변수에 의한 영향을 다각도에서 분석하였다. 강판의 길이방향으로의 변형률을 측정하여 그로부터 접착계면에서의 전단응력을 계산하였으며, 콘크리트와 강판의 상대 변위를 측정하여, 접착계면의 전단계수를 얻고자 하였다. 이러한 실험 결과를 이용하여 비선형 유한요소 해석결과와 비교를 통하여 실험의 검증 및 강판의 단부 접착계면에 발생하는 전단응력 및 법선응력을 도출하였다. 해석결과 최대 하중뿐만 아니라 균열패턴 등도 실험결과와 잘 부합되는 것으로 나타났다. 최종적으로, 해석으로부터 얻은 최대 전단응력과 법선응력의 관계를 이용하여 접착계면의 박리가 발생하는 기준치를 제시하였다. 이러한 연구 결과는 강판 보강된 콘크리트 휨부재에 대하여 보다 현 실적인 설계 및 해석을 가능케 할 것으로 사료된다.mitted) = 369.4$_{A}$V sub p/ - l237.8 <기중양생>lpha$), head separation factor($\beta$), tail separation factor((equation omitted))값이 증가하였다.C$였다.$였다.X>였다..X>였다.할 것으로 생각되었으며, 향후 더 많은 환자들을 대상으로 장기간에 걸친 임상적인 연구가 필요할 것으로 생각되었다.ang with P. japonica Powder had the least sweet taste. 도재파절 양상에 따른 수종의 도재 수복용 레진의 결합력에 관한 실험적 연구 (A comparison of the shear bond strength between porcelain repair systems and fractured surface of porcelain-fused-to-metal restorations)

  • Although dental porcelain demonstrates lasting esthetic results, it suffers from inherent brittle fractures. Various techniques and materials for intraoral porcelain repair has been suggested. This study investigated the in vitro shear strength of three porcelain repair systems according to aspects of the porcelain fractures. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the shear bond strength of three porcelain repair systems(All-bond, Clearfil, Scotchprime) according to fractured surface of porcelain - fused - to - metal restorations. For this study specimens were divided into five groups : group 1 represented fracture occurred at body porcelain layer, group 2 represented fracture occurred at opaque porcelain layer, group 3 represented fracture including 1/3 of metal exposure, group 4 represented fracture including 2/3 of metal exposure, and group 5 represented all metal surface was exposed. Specimens were stored in double deionized water(24Hr, $37^{\circ}C$) and thermocycling was performed(24Hr, 1080cycles), and subjected to a shear force parallel to the repair resin and porcelain interface by use of an University Testing Machine. The results of this study were obtained as follows : 1. In group 1 and 2, bond strength was relatively high, and bond strength showing reducing tendency as exposure of metal was increased. 2. In group 1, bond strength was relatively high, and no significant differences in porcelain repair system. 3. In group 2, 3 and 4, All-bond and Clearfil provided significantly higher bond strength than scotchprime. 4. In group 5, bond strength was the lowest among all groups and especially in case if Scotchprime. 5. Cohesive failure was observed in group 1 and 2, adhesive failure was observed in group 5, and cohesive / adhesive failures were observed in group 3 and 4.

열수노화 조건에서 레저선박용 탄소섬유강화플라스틱의 강도변화에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Hygrothermal Ageing Effect to the Strength of CFRP Materials for Marine Leisure Boat)

  • This paper deals with the experimental study on the hygrothermal ageing effect to the strength of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics (CFRP) materials for marine leisure boat manufactured by vacuum assisted resin infusion method. The experiments performed consist of tensile, flexural and shear tests according to American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and Korean Industrial Standards (KS) test methods. Test coupons are varied from uni-directional(UD, $0^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$), Bi-Directional (BD), and Double-Bias (DB) carbon fiber fabrics in conjunction with epoxy resin. The results of tensile test show that tensile strength reduces significantly while not the same degree of reduction is observed for elasticity modulus with respect to the existence of hygrothermal ageing effect. This implies that the tensile strain induced from external load holds steady values but ultimate strength values change widely under hygrothermal ageing effect. In case of the flexural test, $0^{\circ}$ UD shows more strength reduction than $90^{\circ}$ UD while BD has reduced values in both flexural strength and elasticity modulus under hygrothermal ageing effect. It is learned that the bending strain induced from external load and ultimate strength values are reduced with respect to hygrothermal ageing effect. Shear test performed only on DB materials, and the results show marginal reduction in ultimate strength and moderate reduction in elasticity modulus. This means that the shear strain varies more than ultimate shear strength with respect to hygrothermal ageing effect. The experiment conducted in this paper clearly demonstrates the differences in material properties of the CFRP for the consideration of hygrothermal ageing effect. Findings obtained from this experimental study can serve as a fundamental input data for the realistic structural responses of marine leisure boat built in CFRP materials.

  • 본 연구에서는 건조 고결층이 형성된 준설 매립 지반의 지반 개량 및 보강을 위한 시공 초기 단계에서 지반의 안정성과 장비의 주행성 평가 시 고려되는 지지력 산정과 관련하여 다양한 실내 및 현장 시험을 수행하였다. 지반조사를 통해 기본물성 특성을 파악하였고 현장 베인 시험 및 일축압축 직접전단시험을 통하여 지반의 깊이별 강도분포와 고결층의 강도 특성 및 응력-변형률 거동을 살펴보았다. 또한 지반의 지지력 평가와 하중-침하 곡선 및 파괴형태를 파악하기 위하여 평판재하시험을 수행하였다. 기존의 2층 지반 지지력 산정 기법을 이용하여 지지력을 산정하였으며 이를 평판재하시험 결과와 비교하여 지지력 산정 기법의 적용 방법에 대하여 논의해 보았다.

필로티 구조를 가진 저층 철근콘크리트 전단벽식 건물의 요구내력 스펙트럼 (Required Strength Spectrum of Low-Rise Reinforced Concrete Shear Wall Buildings with Pilotis)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 하부층에 필로티 구조, 상부층에 전단벽식구조를 가진 저층 철근콘크리트 건물의 내진설계 및 내진성능 평가를 위한 기본적인 자료를 제공하는 것으로서, 비선형 지진응답해석을 실시하여 각 층의 내력과 연성율 사이의 상관관계를 파악하여, 이것들의 비율이 건물 전체의 내진성능에 어떻게 영향을 미치는가를 검토하였다. 본 연구에서는 필로티 구조를 가진 저층 철근콘크리트 전단벽식 건물의 특성을 2질점계로 치환하였으며, 하부층인 필로티 구조는 휨파괴형으로 상부층인 전단벽식 구조는 전단파괴형 시스템으로 각각 모델링하였다. 또한 각층의 복원력 특성으로는 필로티 구조는 Degrading Trilinear Model(휨파괴형), 상부층은 Origin Oriented Model(전단파괴형)을 선정하였다. 상기 복원력 특성은 각 층의 보유내력에 의하여 변화를 하며, 지진응답해석용 입력지진파로는 8개의 피해지진의 가속도 성분을 선정하여 이들 가속도 성분의 최대가속도를 0.1g, 0.2g, 0.3g로 표준화 하였다. 각각 지진강도수준에 따라 지진 응답해석을 실시하여 하부층 필로티 구조와 상부층 전단벽식 구조의 내력비와 응답 연성율 사이의 상관관계를 파악하였다. 최종적으로 특정 연성율을 위한 필로티 구조를 가진 저층 철근콘크리트 전단벽식 건물의 요구내력을 산정하여 요구내력 스펙트럼(Required Strength Spectrum)을 제안하였다. 본 연구에서 제안한 요구내력스펙트럼은 특정 지역에서 요구하는 지진수준에 대하여 지진발생시 특정 연성율 이내로 머물게 하는 하한내력의 범위를 파악할 수 있는 등, 연구결과는 필로티 구조를 가진 철근콘크리트 전단벽식 건물의 내진성능평가 및 내진설계의 기본적인 자료로서 활용 가능하다고 사료된다.

패널존과 점성감쇠기를 고려한 강골조 구조물의 내진 설계 모델 (Seismic Design of Steel Frame Model Considering the Panel Zone and Viscous Dampers)

  • The present study is aimed to calculate the optimal damping according to the seismic load on the structure with a non-seismic design to perform structure analysis considering the deformation of structural joint connection and panel zone; to develop design program equipped with structural stability of the steel frame structures reinforced with the panel zone and viscous dampers, using the results of the analysis, in order to systematically integrate the seismic reinforcement of the non-seismic structures and the analysis and design of steel frame structures. The study results are as follows: When considering the deformation of the panel zone, the deformation has been reduced up to thickness of the panel double plate below twice the flange thickness, which indicates the effect of the double plate thickness on the panel zone, but the deformation showed uniform convergence when the ration is more than twice. The SMRPF system that was applied to this study determines the damping force and displacement by considering the panel zone to the joint connection and calculating the shear each floor for the seismic load at the same time. The result indicates that the competence of the damper is predictable that can secure seismic performance for the structures with non-seismic design without changing the cross-section of the members.

반 잠수식 복수부선의 진수설계 (Development of float off Operation Design for Mdlti Semi-submersible Barges with Symmetrical Stability Casings)

  • This paper presents the design concept and operation results of float-off for FSO (340,000 DWT Class, ELF AMENAM KPONO Project) built on the ground, without dry dock facilities. It was the first attempt to build FSO, completely, on the ground and launch it using DBU (Double Barge Unit, which was connected by rigid frame structure.) The major characteristics of FSO, which are similar to general VLCC type hull, including topside structure, weigh 51,000 metric ton. In order to have sufficient stability during the deck immersion of DBU, while passing through a minimum water plane area zone, proper trim control was completed with LMC (Load Master Computer). The major features of the monitoring system include calculation for transverse bending moment, shear force, local strength check of each connector, based on component stress, and deformation check during the load-out and float-off. Another major concern during the operation was to avoid damages at the bottom and sides of FSO, due to motion & movement after free-floating; therefore, adequate clearances between DBU and FSO were to be provided, and guide posts were installed to prevent side damage of the DBU casings. This paper also presents various measures that indecate the connector bending moment, damage stability analysis, and mooring of DBU during float off.

  • KRISO 300K VLCC 이중모형선 주위의 유동특성을 풍동실험을 통해 연구하였다. 선체 선미 주위유동과 후류유동의 평균속도 성분, 난류강도, 레이놀즈 전단응력 및 난류 운동에너지 분포를 열선풍속계를 이용하여 측정하였다. 실험은 선미와 후류의 횡단면에서 수행하였으며, 선체 표면에서의 유동 패턴을 정성적으로 조사하기 위하여 유막법을 이용한 유동가시화도 수행하였다. 선미와 근접 후류영역은 매우 복잡한 3차원의 유동특성을 가지고 있으며, 특히 종방향 와류영역에서 고리 모양의 후류 구조를 볼 수 있었다. 그리고 중앙평행부에서의 얇은 경계층은 선미 영역을 지나며 점차 두꺼워지고 복잡한 3차원 난류후류로 발전하였다.
