  • In this paper, the quantity of dot gain in off-set printing is estimated by using the method of UCR(under color removal) and GCR(gray component replacement) and the degree of dot gain is researched through measurement of dot coverage of each color patch at the output film that is variously applied to discretionary quantity of dot gain each line in screen in the printing for the process of color separation and at the offset printing. Also, the best appropriate quantity of dot gain treatment is examined by printing each line in screen for reproduction of colors.

  • This paper proposes the four directional line segmentation method to transform the size of dot patterns such as character dot patterns, line drawings and so on, while maintaining the quality of original pattern. At the first, this method extracts three kinds of line segmentm, namely horizontal, vertical line and slant line, and then transforms dot patterns using the each rules which are appricable to each kind of extracted line segments. Our experimental results show that transformation of dot patterns can be succeed in good quality without implementing some kinds of smoothing processes, covering the continuous transforming ratio of 0.5 to N times.

  • The results of between resistance and optical transparency measurement in DOT-3 brake fluid contaminated moisture and particles generated from fraction of brake system was compared. Conventional resistance measurement method was known to be effaced by it's hygroscopic characteristics. However, the particle is a significant element of the contamination sources. Proposed optical transparency measurement is linear and effective than that of contamination in brake fluid.

  • Quantum dots were designed within a GRIN-SCH(Graded index - Separate confinement Heterostructure) heterostructure to create a high power InAlAs/AlGaAs laser diode. 808 nm light emission was with a quantum dot composition of In0.665Al0.335As and wetting layer composition of Al0.2Ga0.8As by LASTIP simulation software. Typical characteristics of GRIN structures such as high confinement ratios and Gaussian beam profiles were shown to still apply when quantum dots are used as the active media. With a dot density of 1.0x1011 dots/cm2, two quantum dot layers were found to be good enough for low threshold, high-power laser applications.

  • Quantum structures containing nanoparticles have attracted much attention because of their promising potential applications in electronic and optoelectronic devices operating at lower currents and higher temperatures. The quantum dot is a particle of matter so small that the addition or removal of an electron changes its properties in some useful way. The Quantum dots typically have dimensions measured in nanometers, where one nanometer is 10-9 meter or a millionth of a millimeter. The emission and absorption spectra corresponding to the energy band gap of the quantum dot is governed by quantum confinement principles in an infinite square well potential. The energy band gap increases with a decrease in size of the quantum dot. In this review paper, we will discuss the quantum dot and their application.

  • Dot-patterned carbon nanotube (CNT) emitters with excellent field emission properties were fabricated using photosensitive CNT paste. We carried out a parametric study on the compositions and the fabrication processes of the paste, in particular, by ball milling CNTs, which were optimized in terms of dot shapes and their field emission characteristics. The ball milling process improved the field emission current of the dot-patterned CNT emitters several times higher than that of the non-milled paste.

  • This paper discussed the application process of the Dot Idea program. The Dot Idea program is an incubation and open innovation program co-created by Unitec, an incubator at Tecnosinos Tech Park, and an SAP innovation team. The main objective of this study was to cover an existing gap in the literature regarding the practical application of an open innovation methodology. Many companies seek interaction with external parties to enable advancement toward identified innovation opportunities. Technology clusters, parks, and incubators have played an important role in promoting connections and interaction. Consequently, the Dot Idea program emerged as a result of a joint effort to create a program using a design science research methodology aiming to foster new businesses and strengthen Brazil and Latin America as a hub to develop new solutions for traditional organizations. In regards to lessons learned, the Dot.health trial had some success but also experienced difficulties; these related to the relationships between startups and a hospital's internal teams, and startups' needs to be funded from the beginning in order to be fully dedicated to a project.

  • This paper proposes a new method for the number recognition on dot matrix LED display. The proposed method uses morphological processing that dilates dots of numbers and connects the dots into strokes. The size of numbers is normalized using horizontal projection because the gaps of dots are different according to the size of numbers. The numbers are segmented by connected component analysis and finally, template matching method recognizes the segmented numbers. The proposed method is implemented using C language in Raspberry Pi system with a camera module for a real-time image processing. Experiments were conducted by using various dot matrix LED displays. The results show that the proposed method is successful for the number recognition on dot matrix LED display.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of dot pattern size(0.8, 1.8, 2.5, 5, 8), color combination (BG/R, Y/B), value tone(lt/dk, p/g), area-ratio on image information. Sets of stimulus and response scales(7 point semantic) were used as experimental materials. The stimuli were 20 color pictures manipulated with the combination of dot pattern size, color combination, value tone and area-ratio using computer simulation. The subjects were 240 female undergraduates living in Gyeongsangnam-do. Image factor of the stimulus was composed of 4 different components, visibility, chastity.feminity, cuteness and attractiveness. In the visibility, color combination, value tone, area-ratio, dot pattern size showed independent effect. In the chastity feminity, color combination, value tone, showed independent effect. In the cuteness, value tone, area-ratio, dot pattern size showed independent effect. Significant interaction effects of color and area-ratio combination on visibility and cuteness were found. Interaction efforts of color and value tone combination, value tone and area-ratio was significant on cuteness. For visibility image, BG/R combination of color and yellow background/blue dots were effective. For cuteness image, pale/grayish tone and background/dots area-ratio were effective.

  • In this paper we study the cardinality of the dot product set generated by two subsets of vector spaces over finite fields. We notice that the results on the dot product problems for one set can be simply extended to two sets. Let E and F be subsets of the d-dimensional vector space $\mathbb{F}^d_q$ over a finite field $\mathbb{F}_q$ with q elements. As a new result, we prove that if E and F are subsets of the paraboloid and ${\mid}E{\parallel}F{\mid}{\geq}Cq^d$ for some large C > 1, then ${\mid}{\Pi}(E,F){\mid}{\geq}cq$ for some 0 < c < 1. In particular, we find a connection between the size of the dot product set and the number of lines through both the origin and a nonzero point in the given set E. As an application of this observation, we obtain more sharpened results on the generalized dot product set problems. The discrete Fourier analysis and geometrical observation play a crucial role in proving our results.
