Characteristics of Municipal Solid Wastes Generation in a Small City -For Donghae City- (소규모 도시의 생활폐기물 발생특성 -동해시를 중심으로-)

  • This research was performed to investigate the generation and physico-chemical characteristics of municipal solid wastes. The results were as follows: i) The generation rate and bulk density were 0.157 kg/cap/d and 147.8 g/L in residential zone, respectively. In non-residential zone, the generation and bulk density were 1.71 kg/cap/d and 85.6 g/L, respectively. Consequently, bulk density of non-residential zone was lower than that of residential zone. ii) The wastes consisted of 90% of combustibles and 10% of incombustibles in residential zone. And the wastes from non-residential zone was composed 85% of combustibles and 15% of incombustibles. iii) Water content was estimated at 47~50% in residential zone and restaurants. In non-residential zone, except restaurants, water content was in the range of 10~30%. Ash content was nearly 10% in overall zone.

  • The purpose of this study is to estimate a landslide using the SLOPILE program from the slope reinforced by slope stability systems such as soil nailing and pile. To do this, cutting slope located at Donghae-Highway in Kwangwon-Do was considered. The behavior of slope was monitored for a long term by using instrumentation according to the reinforcement stages. The sequence of reinforcement stages was followed as pile installation, boring, soil nailing installation, anchoring and embankment. The result from this case study shows that the safety factor of slope depends on the reinforcement stage more or less.

  • In odor to set high saturation magnetization and coercivity, it had need to orient axis of easy magnetization of CoCr-based thin film perpendicular direction(c-axis) to the substrate plane. It was known that crystalline orientation of CoCr-based thin film was improved by introducing underlayer like Ti, Ge. We prepared singlelayer and double layer with Si underlayer by Facing Targets Sputtering System. As a result, intensity and c-axis dispersion angle ${\Delta}{\theta}_{50}$ of singlelayer were improved with increasing film thickness. Also, it was found that CoCr/Si and CoCrTa/Si double layer showed good c-axis dispersion angle due to introducing Si.

Intrinsic Priors for Testing Two Lognormal Populations with the Fractional Bayes Factor

  • The Bayes factors with improper noninformative priors are defined only up to arbitrary constants. So, it is known that Bayes factors are not well defined due to this arbitrariness in Bayesian hypothesis testing and model selections. The intrinsic Bayes factor by Berger and Pericchi (1996) and the fractional Bayes factor by O'Hagan (1995) have been used to overcome this problems. This paper suggests intrinsic priors for testing the equality of two lognormal means, whose Bayes factors are asymptotically equivalent to the corresponding fractional Bayes factors. Using proposed intrinsic priors, we demonstrate our results with real example and a simulated dataset.

  • The fertility rate of Korea has rapidly decreased to the lowest in the World. The fertility rate below replacement fertility level might result in many social problems. First, this study investigated the cause of low fertility rate. Second, the theories of the relationship between fertility rate and women's employment were reviewed. The previous studies suggested that the fertility rate was not always related to women's employment negatively and there was mediating factors between them. Third, the various factors that mediated the negative relationship between fertility rate and women's employment were described in personal, family and social levels. Finally, this study suggested the policies and strategies to solve the low fertility rate problem in Korea.

  • The high power factor converters are classified step-up, step-up-down and step-down converter, The power conversion system must be increased switching frequency in order to achieve a small size, a light weight and a low noise. And the power system brings on a high efficiency and high power factor. When a switch of the step down converter is operated with a commercial frequency(60Hz), a reactor using the converter is gone with a great number of harmonics waveforms of low grade. As results of this, the converter is decreased input power factor and is increased system size. To improved these, this paper proposes a PSM(Pulse Size Modulation) control strategy operated with high power factor.

  • ZnO:Al thin film for application to FBAR's bottom electrode using ZnO piezoelectric thin film were prepared by FTS, in order to improve the crystallographic properties of ZnO thin films because the ZnO:Al thin film and ZnO thin films structure is equal each other.   • One of the most frequent sources of the accident is metal contaminant in GIS. This paper deals with the characteristics of breakdown voltage of metallic particles using electrodes of various epoxy coating thickness. As experimental results, breakdown voltage of the thickly coated electrode is higher than that of thinly coated electrode. It is considered that resistance of the epoxy coating impedes the development of pre-discharges in the gas.

  • The Samhwa iron ore deposit, which is of typical magnetite skarn type, is located in the Samhwadong area of Donghae city, Kangwon-do, Korea. Skarn minerals are mainly composed of garnet, clinopyroxene, vesuvianite, wollastonite and small amounts of epidote and quartz. The garnets are isotropic $(Ad_{92.82{\sim}98.37})$ or anisotropic andradite $(Ad_{45.30{\sim}75.85})$ and grossular $(Gr_{86.26{\sim}24.47})$, the clinopyroxenes are ferrosalite and salite, Homogenization temperature of gas rich two phase inclusions in garnet are $368{\sim}593^{\circ}C$, and salnities of polyphase inclusions in garnet have 33.9~68.4 equ. NaCl wt. %. Garnet grain often shows composional variation from its core to rim. In other words, Fe and Al contents in garnet vary inversely, which suggest that the variation depends upon $f_{o2}$ during skarn formation.
