  • In this study, a controller design method is proposed for controlling the discrete-time chaotic systems efficiently. The proposed control method is based on Generalized Predictive Control and uses NARMAX models as controlled models. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed method, a proposed controller is applied to discrete-time chaotic systems, and then the control performance and initial sensitivity of the proposed controller are compared with those of the conventional model-based controler through computer simulations. Through simulations results, it is shown that the control performance of the proposed controller is superior to that of the conventional model-based controller and shown that the peorposed controller is less sensitive to initial values of discrete-time chaotic systems in comparison with the conventional model-based controller.

  • This paper investigates the dynamics and stability of steady states in a continuous and discrete-time single-mode laser system. By using an explicit criteria we explored the Neimark-Sacker bifurcation of the single mode continuous and discrete-time laser model at its positive equilibrium points. Moreover, we discussed the parametric conditions for the existence of period-doubling bifurcations at their positive steady states for the discrete time system. Both types of bifurcations are verified by the Lyapunov exponents, while the maximum Lyapunov ensures chaotic and complex behaviour. Furthermore, in a three-dimensional discrete-time laser model, we used a hybrid control method to control period-doubling and Neimark-Sacker bifurcation. To validate our theoretical discussion, we provide some numerical simulations.

  • Incorrections between model and plant are parameter, system order uncertainties and modeling error due to disturbance like friction. Therefore to achieve a good tracking performance, adaptive discrete time sliding mode tracking controller is used under time-varying desired position. Based on the diophantine equation, a new discrete time sliding function is defined and utilized for the control law. Robustness is increased by using both a recursive least-square method and a sliding function-based nonlinear feedback. The effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm is proved by the results of simulation and experiment.

  • This paper presents the state feedback control design for discrete time nonlinear systems where there exists a time delay in input. It is shown that under some boundedness condition, the time delay nonlinear systems can be transformed into the time delay linear systems with time varying parameters. Sufficient conditions for existence of stabilizing state feedback controller are characterized by linear matrix inequalities. Finally, an illustrative example is given in order to show the effectiveness of our design method.

  • In this paper, a fuzzy tuning discrete-time repetitive control is suggested for a robot manipulator. Real-time implementation of this type of repetitive controller is also performed for a 2 link direct drive robot by using a real-time control system which consists of a real-time OS(Spectra), a single board computer, a communication board and an analog input/output board. First, it is shown that the tracking error is effectively reduced by discrete-time repetitive control. Second, the convergence performance is shown to be much improved by the suggested controller using real-time experimentations.

  • In this paper a new approach to obtain the solution of the linear-quadratic Gaussian control problem for singularly perturbed discrete-time stochastic systems is proposed. The alogorithm proposed is based on exploring the previous results that the exact solution of the global discrete algebraic Riccati equations is found in terms of the reduced-order pure-slow and pure-fast nonsymmetric continuous-time algebraic Riccati equations and, in addition, the optimal global Kalman filter is decomposed into pure-slow and pure-fast local optimal filters both driven by the system measurements and the system optimal control input. It is shown that the optimal linear-quadratic Gaussian control problem for singularly perturbed linear discrete systems takes the complete decomposition and parallelism between pure-slow and pure-fast filters and controllers.

  • A new discrete time gain-scheduled control design is proposed to improve disturbance attenuation for systems with bounded control input under known disturbance maximum norm. The state feedback gains are scheduled according to the proximity of the state of the plant to the origin. The controllers are derived in the framework of linear matrix inequality(LMI) optimization. This procedure yields a linear time varying control structure that allows higher gain and hence higher performance controllers as the state moves closer to the origin. The main results give sufficient conditions for the satisfaction of a parameter-dependent performance measure, without violating the bounded control input condition under the given disturbance maximum norm.

  • The stability robustness problem of linear discrete-time systems with delayed time-varying perturbations is considered. Compared with continuous time system, little effort has been made for the discrete time system in this area. In the previous results, the bounds were derived for the case of non-delayed perturbations. There are few results for delayed perturbation. Although the results are for the delayed perturbation, they considered only the time-invariant perturbations. In this paper, the sufficient conditions for stability can be expressed as linear matrix inequalities(LMIs). The corresponding stability bounds are determined by LMI(Linear Matrix Inequality)-based algorithms. Numerical examples are given to compare with the previous results and show the effectiveness of the proposed results.

  • In this paper we consider the variable structure control for a class of discrete-time uncertain multivariable systems where the nominal system is linear. Discrete-time switching dynamics are introduced so that a new type of state trajectories called sliding mode may exist on the sliding surface by state feedback. The quantitative analysis for the matched uncertainties will show that every response of the system with the proposed switching dynamics is bounded within small neighborhoods of the state-space origin. Also, by the similarity transformation it will be shown that the eigenvalues of the closed-loop systems are composed of those of the subsystems which govern the range-space dynamics and null-space dynamics. It will be also shown that ideal sliding mode can be obtained in the absence of uncertainties due to one-step attraction to the sliding surface regardless of initial position of states.
